    Lap 1 Round 3 - Water

    The Front Line

    There is nothing
    beautiful
    about the ocean.

    It is merely
    reflections - colours
    of the sky,
    the mountains,
    and fishing boats.

    The lines are thrown
    and the haul is

    rasping scales,
    haunting eyes,
    a stench,
    and the knife.

    There is nothing beautiful
    about baited hooks,
    oil spills,
    and lives taken
    on the home
    courts. The colour
    of the sea-sky
    should be red.

    Lap 1 Round 4 - Free verse

    Cubicle, Pedestal

I would like to be something
that you would take your children to see
and take photographs of. I would stand
    in my splendor, for minutes,
    and be a great attraction,
    and be something your children
    might tell their children about.

At the moment I sit, in a crowded
    almost murky cubicle. A person
behind my tries to stiffle a cough, a rustle
of a book annoys me. The tension
rings in my head. I will write myself out
    far from here.

I will surely one day get the chance
to chance standing on a pedestal
    made with my own hands.

    Prompt5 - include microscope

    The End

    Under the microscope,
    your deception cannot hide
I see it searing holes in your soul
And know by morning you'll be dead

    Lost
To everything you swore you weren't
    Drowning
    In your watered down emotions

    Lap 1
    Round 6 Wildcard (Water..round 3)

Two parts 'Heart' and one part 'Obsession'

As I drink the wild air,
it contains the breath I take,
it could take my life unawares,
putting me in a state of deep sleep,
    that stretches across eternity

I wish I could swim the ocean,
but the strength of the wind is seen,
as it rolled the ocean like a carpet,
sending it back with so much speed,
that could tear down a house.

I love to live in the sunshine,
when the sun casts its light on the ocean,
and its beauty appears so clearly,
bringing out the bright blue color,
    that fascinates humanity.

As the ocean and sea roars,
pain and terror swept over me,
the rivers could drown or swallow me,
but the water refreshes me instead,
when I could limit its movement in a cup.

    I would bathe with you,
    and also cook with you;
    I could wash with you,
and also make drinks with you,
because no one is enemies with you.

You cannot get enough of it,
because it is a friend to all.
    It is two parts 'Heart',
    and one part 'Obsession',
as it is in the formula 'H2O'

    Sanguine Folds

Soft as silk, her lips are.

    (though solid are her eyes

    Salaciously scandalous-
    Sanguine folds;

    Round 1 - Lap 12 - Halloween

The allure of the dark road ahead,
although familiar, was always greater when
you were fanged, and when around
any corner you could find a band
    of pirates, ghouls or zombies,
    with possibly macabre results.
    This soup of fearful excitement
    climaxed when tip-toeing along
Sinnotts lane, toward the old rectory
and past Crockeen graveyard, where the ghost
of Lady Francis was said to lament.

Now, nights do not seem as dark. Walking
toward the old rectory is not only a challenge
    for the bravest of vampires.
I do have company; Lady Francis, sometimes,
watches on from a distance. And I look closely

and see that she has your eyes,
and that more than anything, chills

    Lap 2 - round 3 - water

    Tsunami

    There's no man alive

that doesn't drown in your watery gown
or sail across your unruly chest

    doors burst open like mouths
when you tumble over our thresholds

and screams are jarred by your arms
when you press them against your belly

as if sounds can slip through your navel
and roll off your tongue again

The air is naked now - walls have caved in
and the widowed windows spit out your aftertaste

the world has become the wild womb
    where waves and voices collide

as you spew the fishnets landwards
    to catch more slippery sailors

    there's no man alive

    Lap 2 - Round 4 - Free verse

    Sunsets Lock Me into Life

Today, I wake up with a migraine.

    Last night was a blur,
and so were the streetlights at 5:30 a.m.
That badly repaired stretch of pavement
didn't help either, as I groaned and leaned
    against my hallway wall.

Wrapped with a shrinking closeness from the air,
and a chilling touch of truth behind my door
I wandered through my front yard
where the sunbeams shine and warm
    cruising in solemn silence, recklessly.

Consumed by the kiss of a passing breeze
I hastened my steps in hopes to find him there,
upon the moss green ground, laid he
with eyes like deep wells, of adoring tears
flowing fast down his then sullen cheeks.

Another night that I made my way through

    ...without him

Lap 2, Round 5 - Use the word 'microscope'

    Case Study #12

    I live in
    disease. We

    are

    more than carbon and
    chemicals,
    but

    you

    are merely protons,
    chromatins and
    a lack
    of white blood cells.

    If I could
    put you under
    the microscope,
    cross-examine
    your faults,
    I could
    pinpoint the
    disease of
    you.

    The doctors could
    tell me
    how to part
    myself from

    you.

    I live in
    disease, and
    you are the cause.

    Lap 2 - Round 9
    Poem about another P&Q member

    Leader, Scrouge

I wish I could shake his hand, vigourously,
and squeeze it tight like a clamp to
let him know I mean business.

    Or be his family councillor
(he has a rather large family)
to help him remember his duties. Im sure
he could be a great man, attending
to the needs of his flock -
    making changes, giving presents
with a virtual ribbon on top.

But I cannot shake the hand of a phantom.
I can only hope, as he flits in hidden dens and
amongst shadows of the European night, that he
could be Scrouge, a Prodigal Father,
    and save this Tiny Tim.

    Jack's got a secret
    on this most frightful night,
    looking for children to scare.

    He's rabid and wild
    and laiden with fright -
to add haunts to the midnight air.

    Jack's got a smile
as he stalks through the streets,
a twisted grin that makes them scream.

    He saunters down alleys,
    through windows and heads,
spicing fear to the childrens' sweet dreams.

    Jack's got a knife

How many bodies have you filled
to promise us a life in watercolour?

Our faces fade into a drop of desire
and we've become caverns and ripples
by the slightest wave of cerulean.

We are maidens that breathe like fountains
and you keep tossing paint and myths
across our chests, longing to shape
myriad muses that lift their gown
by the slightest wave of cerulean.

Your hands are gods above the horizon
