    Lap 6 Round 12 - Halloween

When I was a child, mother
    never
    let me out
    into the night.
    On the thirty first,
    I would sit, and

    wait

    by the door,
    for anyone
    to knock.

    I thought

    my mother would open it
    and I could sneak off

    into the night

    and make friends
    with the ghosts.

    Nobody ever came.

    Lap 6 - Round 13 - Toilet

    Bus-stop, pee-stop

The driver mercifully stopped the bus
    and, alcohol-fuelled, we shuffled out
    across a nearby maize-field
like a scattered bag of marbles.

I had located semi-privacy and was
about to stop and answer nature's call when,
as if trying impersonating the maize that circled it,
    I spotted a toothpaste-clean toilet, with
a fluffy pink seat, lurking invitingly.

I looked at that toilet and contemplated it's possibility,
and decided to sprinkle the crop where I stood anyway.

    Lap 7- Round 1 - 21 syllables

    OPRAH

I caught a sight of you,
    last night on TV
    not much has changed
    You're still the queen,
    of talk.

    Lap 7 - round 2 - tanka

    faceless flames align
    along sleep wanderer's road -
    footsteps fade away
    when will-o'-the-wisps awake
the lake that swallows our souls

    Lap 7~Round 3~Water

    Drip
    Drip
    Drip
    It echoed in the silence
    Filling the darkness

    I imagined myself
    A struggling drop of water
    Fighting to hold on
But finally lost to the unknown

    I wander through dark tunnels
    Filled with forgotten dreams
Dampened with unseen pain and regret
Wondering if I will ever find my way home

    Lap 7 Round 4 - Free Verse

    There is something about
    the way the wind moves
    in this city.

    It is not a breeze,
    it is a howl, a

    roar,

    telling us to run.
    It was never a city
    that was safe.

    Lap 7 - Round 5 - Microscope

    Biology

Lying next to you, I feel I have been given
a microscope to your skin. I can point it at any
of your cells, identify the tiny nucleus
    where DNA swirls.
But I am no scientist, and hard as I look,
I have no key to unlock your Biology.

    Lap 7 - round 7 - cats

    Today I walked past
    the mod house,
    ears nonchalantly
    wriggling, as if they're sensors
    just to hear
    an intermezzo
    of purrs and hairballs

    I thought
    it must be Sibs-Jerry
    slaughtering Jane-Tom
    on the play-station

    just to find
    a kitten-size lion
    scratching the windows
as if he could draw a circle
    that looks like those in espionage-movies;
    eyes desperate
    to live his kitten live
    on the streets
    with other kitten gangs
    and half-breathing birds

    Then a
    *poof*
    and the
    *tring*
    of the mod's oven

    And I realised
    that the women
    of this house
    must be spinsters,
    witches,

    for no meow
    was longer heard
    at the window, only
    Larry's tummy
    rumbling
    and squeezed
    against breaking glass.

    Lap 7~Round 8~AABAB rhyme scheme

She rose in the fading evening light
Her beauty shaded by the night
Her lovers left upon the moon
Her heart would twinge, if only slight
Morning could not come too soon

    Lap 7 Round 9 - PnQ Member

    Makalah is my
    Tangible Heartache. We once
    rolled on the floor laughing
    at silly words
    and tootsie rolls. But
    three years later
    is a long time when you're 12,
    and we haven't laughed
    for years.

    Lap 7 - Round 10 - Alliterative verse

    P poem

    Procratinating poetry poses problems,
    personal poetry provides procratination,
people's private pains permeating public places:
parks, playschools, pubs, pizza parlours -
    permanently pleading 'Please, provide publication!
Please put "Personal Poet Pain" prominantly,
    providing paychecks post plentifully.'
Pointedly, person penning "Personal Poet Pains"
    ponces proudly, persistantly...
    Pointlessly.

    Lap 7 - Round 11 - Five Lines

I am so hopeless, that I could cry
    scattered Fragments of Poetry,
    were unkempt and lost
    between the shelves
    of blocked poets' anthologies.

    Lap 7 - round 12 - Halloween

    Halloween has left me
    traumatized
    of candies -
    the way they drill holes
    into your perfect white teeth,
    and make them yellow
    like newspapers of a time
    that your parents still ate candy;
    or yellow
    like a coffee-drenched
    parent's mouth
    at breakfast.

So, this year, I will dress
    like mother nature.

    Children may chew
    on my hair,
    for they look just like
    un-rolled liquorice wheels,
    or nibble at my eye
    for its structure is just
    like bubblegum

    if you believe so.

    I will frighten those candy-hunters
    so their masks peel off
    on their own
    like their parent's skin,
    and enjoy the silence
    of un-ringed bells
    at every
    Halloween,

    as I sip my coffee
    and read in the newspaper
    that the toothfairy
    hasn't visited
    since we've grown up.

    Lap 7~Round 13~Toilet

    Steamy
    Warm
    Relaxing
Water cascading over my tired body

I longed for this moment all day
    Silence
    Calm
    Relief

    Flush
    Damn it
    Scalding, burning
I forgot to lock the door
Someone always always flushes the toilet

    Melting Point

    Polar creatures sweat
    beneath invisible plumes,
    icecaps flirt dangerously
    with a heated sea,
    awaiting their deathly fall.

    Lap 8 - Round 3 - Water

    Why would any lady
    enjoy the sprinkles
    of Gucci and Chanel?

    Those mixed potions
    stick to our skins
    and seep through our veins,
    trying to dazzle us
    with fake fruits
    and other sweets.

    No, I rather enjoy
    the perfume of the rain.

    Lap 8 - round 4 - free verse

    She hails from the lands
    down under,
    where coffins unearth
    on their own
    and forests flare
    with a flicker
    of her fingernails.

    Midnights are a canopy
    of cosmic days
    when she clepes
    blood to ascend
    from corpse cannibals,

    for she was born
    below the horizon;
    storms settle
    in her palm
    like Pandora's Box

    and the graves
    are a place for her
    to clepe
    home.

    Your pain was hidden
    So you thought
But I could see specks of it inside your smiling eyes
    Secrets buried
    just below the surface
Do not need a microscope to be found
