    Lap 4 Round 1. 21 Syllables

    We are like
    great,
    giant dragons
    spitting, hot, the fire
    of our poetic
    musings

    Round 2

    Tanka

    Your healthy beauty
    bedazzles the wicked men,
    the twirling motion
    of your skirt entices all,
we all succumb to your will.

    Lap 4
    Round 3
    Water

    In breath,
    where I feel it puff
    on peaching face, fuzzed follicles,
    clings and coats, collects and
    meanders down the shaft
to pore, to plop a soundless
    heat against my skin.
    The water in your voice
    makes me ache.

    Lap 4
    Round 4
    free verse

    I whispered to her;
    'You are beautiful'
    when all I really meant
    to say was that,
    not even the sight
    of the niagara falls
    was as elegant
    as her hair cascading
    down her spine..

    I meant to say that,
    not even the feeling
    of an infant kicking ribs
    from the inside,
was as magical as her lips
    upon mine..

    that there was no sunset,
    as gorgeous as her mind
    nor a cloud,
    as soft as her skin.

    she said;
    'You're cliche,darling'
    and I responded,
    'no,I'm just in love'

    Round 5
    Microscope

    I see you,
    within my heart's microscope.
    Nothing more than a germ
    resting upon a dirty spoon.
    Nearly absent from my life,
    as you should be.
    Like a virus,
    you have been eradicated,
    for good.

    Wild Card - Five Line

    The air is appetizing when
ginger spice swirls 'round the room
    scented with October -
like cinnamon nestled in a roll,
the taste lingers on your tongue.

    Lap 4
    Round 7
    Cats

    Poetry on cats
is not something I can manage,
    the heartache one gives me
    with scratching and hissing --
    a devil in the disguise
of a soft, lofty animal -
    Despicable mistresses.

My puppy is small and yellow

    All I that I am,
    sometimes gets caught up
    in those futile attempts
    to reach her soul..

    I often find that she,
    like lemons hanging in
    an apple tree,
    is lost..

    still,
I believe in all she is..
    for the honesty she
    gives birth to in our
    conversations..

    for the sole tone
    of the voice I am
    a stranger to..

    I know that she,
    like her name..

    Is a,
    courageous dreamer..

    Alliterative Verse

    Soothing sentances spread
    across alabaster parchment. Pleasing
    words wiggle wonderously
    through thoughts of ongoing
    madness. Masterful morpheme
    come clinging, bright, bold.
    Endlessly enchanting ears.

    Round 12
    Halloween

    Treats are handed out
    regardless of age,
    interesting costumes, or
    creative gestures -
    kicked off on Halloween.

    Oh, how this holiday
    reminds me of my childhood.

    Tricks are tossed out
    regardless of terror
each adult looks for ways to taunt
    any and all ages during
    this time of year.

    The Drop Zone

    Many times you saw me
    with my hair astray and
    tears sparkling in my eyes,
yet you always kept our secret.

    You were always there
    to lean on
    when I needed you most
    and always listened as
I cussed and swore that I
    would NEVER do this again.
And not once did you lecture me
when yet again ... I lied to you.

    You never complained when
    I spilled that margarita
    on your lap, nor fussed
    when I left my last
    jello shooter on your seat.

Oh we had many good times
    my friend,
though sadly you have only seen
    the worst parts of me.

    Yet like a true friend
    you kept our secrets
    in "the little girls room"
    to yourself, never lectured
    nor complained,
and flushed away every bit of
evidence of our wild crazy nights
with a flick of the finger.

    My dear porcelain buddy
even though I am all grown up now
I will never forget those days
    we spent together ...

    hugging

    Leaves In Autumn

    Crisp and ornately colored
they fall to the ground with a

    they

    Groovy orange tabby,
    always laying around.
Resting all day and all night,

    lasagna off the table, and

She wanted to cozy up next to her pillow,

    Round 9
    PnQ Member

    In the future
    maybe
    I'll see the tell-tale
    red swish, whirling
    across your other knee,
    the hip shift that bends
    spoons, and the strange
    glowing dribble,
    that pools beneath
    marmalade feet.
    These days, I start
    to wonder, apprehensive
    of your attitude of motion,
    charged, eerily undefined.
    But I reckon
    there are cobwebs
    'tween your legs, lounging
    lazy 'midst the tanned
    spokes, suspended by
    the flash, frozen mid spin.

    In the future
    maybe
    you could change
    your picture.
    In the future
    maybe
    I'll see your face.

    By now everyone must know,
    Abby's awesomeness always radiates

    Lap 5
    Round 12
    Halloween

    Payback's a Bitch

    Skeleton
    in my closet hangs
    by the collar
    ready for the next
    adventure,
    come Hallows eve.

    It tickles my mind
    to think of the faces
    of all the dear children
    as their tiny knuckles
    rap upon my door.
    I delight in the image
    of the children's screams
as I tell them the story
    of how I got these
    prize possessions,
    as I rattle the bones
    that hang around my neck.

    Oh Halloween I love you!
For today pay back is indeed
    a bitch -
    dressed in a skeleton costume

    Ready to scare all the
    little boys and girls
    who joyfully dressed my house
    in a white fluffy mess
    last year.

    I hope they enjoy
    their treats too ...

    for I did indeed save
    the toilet paper also

    Lap 6
    Round 3
    Water

    I have
    always feared the warm
    beads of water trickling
    down my stomach to a
    swamp of bubble bath.

    The way my rubber ducky
    was lured by Nix
    curved my spine and
    I've never peered
    into a drain for
    kraken tentacles
    linger like poison ivy.

    I am a water sign,
    who carries gillyweed
    in her pocket and
    only drinks pepsi max
    from a tightly sealed can.

    Round 4
    Free verse

    1920 Something

    Wrinkles tell the tale
    of a million steps
    in beaten shoes.

    Each line painting a portrait
    of uphill climbs and hardships
    in a time when television
    was only for the wealthy
and a picture show cost a dime.

    I can almost imagine you
    dancing the charleston,
your arms swaying and your feet
    skipping.
Oh how beautiful you must have
    been.

    And I see the sadness
in the droop of your eyes
    as you touch a finger
    to your lips once smooth
    as silk.

    Yet there is beauty
    in the way your words
    caress your lips
    and your cheeks flutter
    with nervous laughter
    when I tell you,
    you are still beautiful -

    Grandma.

    Lap 6
    Round 5
    use the word "microscope"

    I swore to god,
    that she was beautiful.
    a piece of art composed
    with the finest of details..

    I could stare into her
    eyes for infinite seconds,
    and find perfection
    each and every time..

    they all said,
    I was wrong about her..
for I saw her through eyes
    drunk with love.

    so I placed her,
    beneath a microscope..

    and,
    their jaw dropped...

    when they too,
    finally saw..
    her dazzling beauty.

    Through the Seasons

    She is a flower
burnt by the suns of summer,
stung by the winds of fall,
beaten by the storms of spring
and bitten by the frost of winter

    yet through every season
she rises, her head held high,
    her arms held wide
    and her love dashing
    across the world to greet
    every person she meets
    with a word of kindness.

She is Cindy ... an inspiration
