    Toilet

    You always were dirty,
no matter how often I washed
    your mouth out with soap,
wipe your face like a snotty
    nose kid and bleached
    your off-white shirt -

    you always talked shit.

    frostbitten grass spoke of winter,
then heat flared like bright autumn leaves -
    Indian summer.

    Cascading river
cold as the ice it came from
    dropping to abyss
    over boulders of granite
    transparent, like perfect glass

    water

    Whilst,
    laying within your arms
    you traced a finger across
    my lips,
    that were dry.
    like leaves in September.

    "I'll get you some water"
    you said...

    I closed my eyes
    in disappointment..

    for I realized
    that you didn't understand,

    that water wouldn't
quench the thirst I had for love

    A faltering daisy chain settles
on her frail and fragile head,
    tiptoes and giggling laughter
    is the only sound heard
    through these hallways.

    Her innocence begs to be
    straightened, remain intact,
while all our broken world does
    is rake away her magic
    bit by bit,
    until she is shattered,
just like a broken daisy chain.

    Tequila Sunrise

    As August flew by
on the wings of a raven,
    I kissed summer good-bye
    with naked lips and fell
into the arms of a tequila sunrise.

    I swallowed your lies
    with a pinch of salt
    and a squeeze of lemon
but it was far too late to kill
    the bitter after taste
    of deceit.

    A dash of grenadine swirled
    upon orange silk, flirting
    delightfully upon my tongue.
    A dispirited image of how
    we once blended.

    And as winter approached
    I found me -
    locking eyes with a gentleman
above a glass of virgin sunrise
    sharing a maraschino cherry.

    And I found you -
    eyes bleeding tears of regret
    beneath a bare evergreen,
    a dying mistletoe in hand.

    And even with a microscope
I still can not find that part
    of my heart that says

    I give a damn !

    Falalala - lalala - ha !

    Wild Card [21 syllables]

    Cat

    Of course you'd stutter-
    cats played with your tongue,
    clawing your taste buds and
    purring with pleasure.
    Like a jazz musician you
    lure felines with rhythm
    swaying 'til your pelvic's content.

    ababb

    Resting upon my sturdy couch
beer in hand, game on television
laying back in a comfortable slouch
yelling at the ref, for a bad decision
    and cursing a player's indecision.

Majestic words flutter off her fingertips
enveloping me like a comforting blanket,
linking my heart with her connected words -
perhaps she has witnessed my dreams
    or absorbed my dark nightmares,
marking her territory in my brain
    ending her drought, inspiration flows
near crumpled paper, her block once again
evening itself out, more majestic words shall come.

    Alliterative verse

    Silky Sunshine

The silky silhouette of sun-rays slip
between the trees, tempting my taste buds
    and casting colorful candescent creations
surprisingly like sipping sunshine from a silver spoon

    Lap 7
    Round 11
    Five Line

    I've been dizzy in thought
speaking of drizzling sunshine into a toilet's mouth

now all that is left are cobwebs
and a kink in my writing.

    Round 12
    Halloween

    As the alien's jaws
    contracted, out jumped
    the crackled candy,
    claimed the ground and
    covered in dirt,
    disguised as gross,
    who cares? It's still
    delicious.

    toilet

    you know I sat
    there,
    my cheeks red
    like a cherry

    my hair sweaty,
    sticky, stuck to my forehead...

    three whole hours,
    and I was left
    with nothing
    but your lines on
    my ever so round bum..

    I pressed,
    and you gargled
    clean water...

    and I left,
    exhausted
    and broken hearted.

    you expected me to shit
    but I just farted.

    Water

    Rather than a gentle mist
    that could've crawled through
    window screen, to softly
    moisturize my face,
it clattered 'cross the pleated pane,
assaulted sheets and soaked my bed.
    Demented drops, my morning's
    now deranged.

    Round 5
    Use word microscope

    How many times
    must we backpedal in life
    before we realize
people will continuously peer at us
    through their shattered microscope?

    How many times
must we fall and fail in love
    before we realize
people will never build us up
    like our own expectations do?

    Lap 8
    Round 6
    (wildcard) Include the word "microscope"

Isn't Life Just Full of Oxymoron

    Feeling alone in a crowd
has always hung upon my sleeve
and bad luck seemed to always
    follow me around tugging
at the hem of my long shorts

    I've always been known
as the girl who is awfully pretty
with the better than new clothes
    from the big town,
yet most times I find myself
    to be pretty ugly
    with my mean smile and
    nasty politeness

People simply turn a blind eye
    to the numb feeling that
    partially destroys the
round edges of my open heart.
    And it is sadly funny
and a sure guess that they
    silently whisper true lies
    about the poor rich kid
    they think I am.

    Yet beneath a microscope
I simply see myself as -
    insanely normal

Such a tragic comedy life can
    be sometimes, eh !.

    Lap 8
    Round 7
    Cats

Lush and loathing in the sun
and deadly as a dormant gun
my slinker slinks and slyly winks
his languid brows and then meows.
There's nothing that's quite so entrancing
(though perhaps here I'm just romancing)
the quiet quality of a cat...
    the oddly graceful little prat.

    Lap 8
    Round 10
    Alliterative

HOLY CRAP I LOVE ALLITERATION POEMS.

    Irate I'd be, if indeed
    'twere so, that thinking
    thoughts to twine together
    such scintillating syllables
    in smashing fashion,
    was wickedly wiped out.
    If situations should arise
I'd wield my words with wondrous woe,
    clawing with consonants, collecting cringes,
    and lastly lassoing
    an assonance lance to poke
    and prance prettily 'pon
    the perpetrator's pouting personage.

    Halloween

    Tonight I will sit
    and carve,
    most create fantasies
with smiley faces and crooked eyebrows,
and others assemble the scariest faces
    I think I've ever seen.
Once or twice I've seen a scene -
a scary house with cobwebs and spiders
    looming around the moldy pieces.

But tonight, I will carve a simple scowl
    because once again,
I have to write a Halloween poem
    for this darn contest.

    Toilet

    The twirl that swirls
    furls to the right,
    it sweeps the turds
    unheard to tubes
    under the ground
    where smells abound.
    I watch the rush
    and feel a flush
    on cheeks alight.
    I'm watching water
    swelling right,
    you watch it pulling left,
    and this is how our
    hemispheres connect.

    Water

    Angel's tears cascade
    upon highways of
    raging water
    weaving through boulders
    down peaks of snow
    past towering Evergreens
    to salt filled seas
    only to be lifted
    by sun's rays,
    resting in Heaven
    until Angels cry again.

    Round 4
    free verse

    Your tone
    blisters my lips
    as you draw the drapery
    to blind my senses
    to the outside world

    I am but soil
    beneath your feet
    without a star to wish
    upon, nor a moonbeam
    to caress my fingertips.

    Kicked and crushed,
    spat upon with filthy words
    until I crumble.

    And with a twist
of your wrist, you sweep me
    under the mat
    like yesterday's dirt

Out of sight, out of mind

    Round 6
    Wildcard (free verse)

    Lofty sighs are heard
    upon lovers' lips
    and promises are made
    in eachothers' eyes -
    we mustn't lose our heads
    by the passion engulfed
    in our fiery throats.

    It's in the simplicity
    of romantic encounters
    that we begin to feel
    the heat rise, the urgency
    truly begin to pull.
Only then can we fasten ourselves
    for turbulence.

Sometimes when I'm down, you always

sunshine of my life - the brightest shade of yellow

I saw a woodchuck wallowing, weeping,
upchucking chucked wood. I wondered if
    perhaps his parabolic
    rollercoaster riding rambunctiousness
counted as correlative to his downchucked
upchucking, so I checked the charts,
did math, and counted his convulsions.
