    You'll often find her
    with an apron tied around
    her pencil waist, smudged with
    a nights' work.

    Tanka

    She spreads 'tween fingers
    like Australian wildfire
    print-making 'pon skin.
    Sometimes more pain than pleasure.
    She is creativity.

    Lap 10
    Round 3
    Water..

    Free Like water,
    I crave to be.

    the way its so infinite,
    either in a river or
    in the ocean..

so the sun could take me within
    his arms..and placed me
    in the clouds..

    and as soon as,
    me and my siblings
    get too much too handle..

    we fall back to earth,
    and they call us

    Rain

    Round 4 Free verse

    You always say you'll take
    two big marshmallows,
and request a handful of small ones
yet you never drink the cocoa
    I never force upon you.
But once I ask for your opinion,
    you shove away the mug
as though it's full of poison.
Maybe one day, your taste buds
will decide to make smarter choices.

    Lap 10
    Round 5
    Microscope

    I looked at the heart
    with a microscope eye,
    pored over the tenuous
    planes of heaving muscle,
    and sat studying the pull
    and push, the squeezing
    rhythm that keeps
    a body in motion.
I saw no moment, no pause,
    no skipping candied heels
    flung high above the head,
    nor a crackling line
    dividing atriums.
    Vena cava stayed vena cava,
    no names inscribed, oceans
    crossed or territory marked.
    Just the rhythmic stumblings
    unperturbed and plodding
    the same mystified beat
    as everyone else.

    Lap 10
    Round 7
    Cats

    Simba

    I found you
    shaking beneath
    the old elm tree,
    your fur a matted tangle
    of burrs and twigs.
    A beautiful blend
    of orange and white swirled
    through your tail
    and your eyes reflected
the sun in the most amazing
    collage of hues.

    You snarled and growled
    and for a quick moment
    your eyes lifted in
    hesitation, as if to say,
    please love me.

    Yaki,

    Somedays like a fortune teller
I read your poems as palmistry,

    a heart line - wounded,
    growing daisies
    that were too lazy
    to lift her chin

    and yet...

    ..she'd still
    find beauty in the
    stragest of places.

    With May,
    you spoke to me -
    a pen of inspiration.

    Writing of
    an artists sacrafices
    while knitting my
    pencil a jumper and

    it was then I realized,
    our thoughts were two
    plums 'pon an apricot tree.

    pim and pam
    were picking pumpkins

    the sun set came sooner

to do dirty dutties in the dark..

I watch as excitement tingles within,

    Lap 10
    Round 12
    Halloween

I spy yellow horns of corn...
    nibbled specks of candy
    torn from stocks
    unheard of, mystery
    farms, oh, if my arms
    could just detect
    corny locations I'd
    locomotive and select
    as many kernels as I
    chose, and all the
    tricksters treating whose
    misleading costumes
    begged for corn
    would be met with
    most haughty scorn,
for I, not they would be
    the lord, the goddess of
    the candy corn.

    Free Verse

    Shoulder me
    along your back
    and carry sighs
    inside your pack
    of wandering thoughts
    I told to you
    the hills are wide
    and full of stones
    but hold my weight
    I'll carry yours
    inside my heart
    where desperate
    pleas will cradle
    all your tears.

    Round 5
    Include the word "microscope"

    Lying beneath the moonlight
    your hand in mine,
    kissing your tender lips
    as sweet as cherry wine

    The stars a cozy blanket,
the grass an island of our own
    the moon keeping secrets
as he sits upon his thrown

    Time is hushed silent
    as romance burns so bright
    making love on our island
    beneath a starry moonlight night

    We don't need a microscope
    to see our hearts belong
    together

    She was telling everyone
    she wanted to dress
    as a beauty queen
    for halloween..

    and she did,
    she did look stunning too..
    I admit..
    But deep inside,
    she too knew..

    forehead..

    was the 'b'
    of bitch.

for taking care of your problems -
yet he can be a pain your ass

for taking it to the potty with you,
    now he's you're worst enemy.

    Water

    Sometimes I wish
    to peer through the eyes
    of a yellow tang -
    I'd marry a starfish
    and show opposites attract
for we'd be yin & yang
    only canary and colbalt.

    I'd nestle myself on
    the tentacle of an octopus
    and ride the waves,
    bubbles brushing scales
    as I ignored sharks
    charming teeth while
    plucking my star
    seaweed and coral.

    Round 4
    Free verse

    Free verse

    Every night after work,
I walk home in the dark..

    I enjoy it,
    the way my thoughts
    align along with the
    clouds in the sky..

    there is something
    so beautiful,
    in the breeze
    at this hour..

    I feel pure,
    and serene...

    I find myself
    constantly..
    in twenty-minute-old
    walk.

    but,
    some people
    can't control their animals.

    and he grabbed my leg,
as if I was the most delicious meal ever..

    no,
    he didn't pierce my flesh.
    the owner was there.

    but,
It will never be the same..
    my peaceful night-walk
    has turned into fear.

    Mel

    Allow me to be cliche,
to stand in line with all those
    who have written about her...

    add me to the list,
    of those who tried
    using metaphors
    and symbolism
    except,
    that I won't do that...

    I'm not here to praise
    her verses,
    not to compliment
    her eyes...

    why get difficult
    and describe her
    as the meaning of the
    word pulchritudinous...

when she is a simplistic beauty
    that is content
    with being called
    'Beautiful'
