    Lap 15
    Round 11
    Five Lines

    My palms are sweaty,
blisters forming, a fizzed mind -
yet I will not give up,
for the rest of the teams are in sight,
    we will win this fight!

    Lap 15
    Round 12
    Halloween

    Smarties smothered with dust
    makes my mouth water,
    more tears than drool
    a tongue devastated, wishing
    parents didn't restrict Halloween
    candy consumption.

    Lap 15
    Round 13
    Toilet

    Flush, flush - bubble,bubble
oh my God I am in such trouble
the toilet blocked, what to do
    oh the smell, pee-ewww

    grab the plunger,splish -splash
holy shit, look at all the trash
    tampon wrappers, what the hell
seat floods over like an oil well

Pump it quicker, please go down
Oh my God here comes something brown
hands are sweaty knees are weak
damn thing flowing like Samson's creek

    Gurgle, Gurgle, going down
    adjective followed by another noun
now left to clean the all this crap
    then I think I'll need a nap

    Lap 16
    Round 1
    21 Syllables

    Pastels sleep between the
    clutter of paper curving
    around spines -
    abandoned drawings.

    Lap 16
    Round 2
    Tanka

    It doesn't matter
how hard I try, these damn things
    chase me, what the hell
    these annoying little wimps
gonna make me want to cry

    Lap 16
    Round 3
    Water

    I exhaled, shooting
    bubbles into the air
    that floated aimlessly
    'til popping upon
    my skin unexpectedly
    like a watered down kiss.

    Lap 16
    Round 4
    Free Verse

    Friday nights
    freedom imagined,
    rather I'll stay home,
    drenched in poetry,
    dripping endless
    turns of phrases...
    It's almost like being
    drunk.

    Lap 16
    Round 5
    Include the word "microscope"

    My eyes as shiny
as dew drops on morning petals.
    Yet I press onward, fighting
    the fatigue.

    Another lap, another round,
    another poem to complete.

    Perhaps a cigarette will revive
    the lazy metaphors sleeping
in the back of my mind or
    a cool drink of rum
will get the blood pumping again.

10 more minutes and I fear
    I will need a microscope
to see these words I type ...

as they grow more and more
    hazy by the minute.

    Lap 16
    Round 6
    Wild Card - 5 lines

Ice cubes are chattering and I am
jealous of the way they drift freely in a pool
of Antarctic water. They mocking me
with their sleek bikini bodies and I find
myself wishing a polar bear would gobble them up.

    Lap 16
    Round 7
    Cats

    My cat sure was unique..
she was gray, but had an orange paw
curious,loving.. she chased all she saw..

But I left her outside one day..
    for mom,Inside..wouldn't let her stay

I will never forget how I found her..
    the day she slipped away,

    I should have known better
not to leave my cat astray.
