    Round 8
    Aabab Rhyme

I wandered in the front door,
and as you greeted me, you made my heart soar,
    slobbering my arm with love,
needless to say I wanted more -
yet later you'll nestle next to me like a dove.

    Your face brightens every post.
Always eager to throw a happy word.
Kindness must be in your water.
    I think you're pretty swell.

    Lap 16
    Round 10
    Alliterative verse

    Sunny Saturdays sitting
    sipping sunshine, swallowing silver
    spoonfuls of speckled rays
oh how so many silly thoughts
    run through a sleepy mind
    slipping into 12:09 AM

    Lap 16
    Round 11
    5 Lines

    He lights soy candles -
Strawberries and champagne litter the air
Yet I am sick of the sweetness, the way it
    embeds itself within my lungs,
a reminder of his masked personality.

    Lap 16
    Round 12
    Halloween.

    The costumes,
    the candy..
    honestly,
    pumpkins never terrified me.

    and,
    I can"t help
    but hestitate..

    how can I possibly,
    write about something..

    I don't even celebrate.

    Lap 16
    Round 13
    Toilet!

It was a bathroom the size of a closet,
that had the most unpleasant smell ever -
seems as though some guys aimed
and missed and now the bathroom
    smells like piss.

    Beautiful country
    elms and pine, so beautiful
    high snow capped mountains,
    streams running beneath the ice

    Lap 17
    Round 3
    Water

Sometimes I fish around in you,
catching goldfish for fun and feeling
your wet beads drip down my fingertips
to my wrist where you would
always dry and leave me with warmth.

    Lap 17
    Round 7
    cats

    Upon the ledge
    he stretches like
    a yo-yo,
    nails clawing the air
    in-out-in-out

    Until a motion
    catches his eyes
    and he's off like a
    jet to snatch his prey

    Oh pretty birdy,

    fly !

It is said eyes are the window to your soul
one can see if you are not whole
or feeling pain nobody should know
though others learn outside your control
no matter what emotion you show.

    Cynnie (Mera Luna)

She is one of a kind,
    a fly agaric sleeping 'tween
    common mushrooms who
    admire her artistic dazzle
    while she nestles 'neath the
    moon in a polka-dot dress.

    Lap 17
    Round 11
    Nature

    Can you hear the crunching
    of the already changing leaves
    as they're stomped on
by the creatures of the morning?

    A later than usual sunrise
    pours in through my window,
a beautiful alarm clock set too early
but just the right time to experience
    all there is to offer.

    Lap 17
    Round 12
    Seven Lines

My eyes are of poison ivy
itching 'til I can no longer see -
for they are as dull as an
    unsharpened pencil -
    thoughts trailing like a rash
    of a thousand infected poems,
    which now hold no meaning.

    Lap 17
    Round 13
    Magic

    Many times I sat
    hands cradling a flaccid
    spine, eyes fluttering
    from flittering line to line.
    Many times I call you
    truth, and many times
    it was within your
    soft pages, that the
    ink took root in my
    mind, and pulled me
    into new existence.
    Always, I call you
    magic.

    Lap 18
    Round 1
    Grandmothers

    I remember fairy lights laid
dormant in their box last year,
We pecked your trifle like sparrows,
port jelly sliding off my plate
and onto my coffee coloured dress
    staining - like your memory
    tye died 'pon my heart.

The rosary curled within' your hands
like a homeless clutching 10 cents,
the beads designed your skin black
    and blue.

All this time I've never written
a poem for you, but Inhobbok Hafna,
and I'll find you in the mirror tomorrow.

Inhobbok Hafna = I love you in Maltese (my background)

    ROUND 5 - SQUIRREL

    Fluffy, floofy
    bouncy, flouncy

    Round 6
    Wild Card

    You're always leaving a rash

    Insect

I wish I could slap you in the face,

    you are annoying,useless
and love to hang around shit..

    Lap 18
    Round 9
    Mythological being

    You'd graze by the water
chewing on a daffodil or two -
    a show pony whos mayne
    flowed like icicles 'pon
the splintered fur of a neck,
    luring travels with beauty and
    seducing children like pedofiles.

    Cooking

    it will never work,

    Lap 18
    ROUND 11:
    Nature

Funny how the sounds of seasons
    so quickly change -
in my mind fall can only be associated with
    crunching twigs and leaves
and the sound of rolling pumpkins.

  • Narphangu

    Lap 18
    Round 12
    Seven lines

    Room's a gaping mess
    of cereal boxes left
    to the flies, and clothes
    that would rather stamp their
    cotton feet in tantrum
    then go quietly off
    to a wardrobe bed.

  • Melpomene

    Lap 18
    Round 13
    Magic

I was tattooed by a magic wand,
patterns like scrap book paper were
    inked 'pon my cheeks and
I began to ponder if I was cursed
    with zig-zags trailing my spine,
tea leaves tangled within my hair
or was I blessed with a
    uniqueness of my own.

    Lap 19
    Round 1
    Grand mothers

    what is there,
    to say about someone
    who passed away..
    when I was a three-month-old

how can I put into poetry,
    the spirit of someone
    who's soul is said to
be the one of a fighter..

    battled cancer
    for ten whole years,
    and didn't get the chance
    to me see me grow.

    Aabab

    Aabab

In the midst of foggy skies,
there swarms a different group that flies
known well to those who gawk at birds,
the whizzing specks known as "horseflies"
They'll come at you in endless heards.

  • Melpomene

    Lap 19
    Round 4
    Free

    We stumble -
    Like this pen.
    Unaware that with autumn
    comes winter
and fading ink will no longer bleed
    but rather -vanish-
into the nothingness you call "air"

    They wonder 'bout sunken moons;
    Perch 'gainst twisting trees.
And why I write of ladybeetles 'pon your arms
    Sheltering I from sharpened breeze.

    Though midnight speaks of
    Twisted tongues
    With shards of glass
    'neath her knees.

While warmth burns for the umpteenth time
as he echo's "sleep" to my dreams.

With wind chimes tangled 'pon his breath
    And sheltered lullaby -
    Twas moonlight theft

    Lap 19
    ROUND 5 - SQUIRREL

    I once witnessed
    a squirrel
run away with a golf ball
    that I hit, obviously terribly.
I chucked my club at the tree
and my golf ball was returned -
    two bite marks now symbolize
    how terrible I am
    at clubbed sports.
