    Lap 27
    Round 4
    Free

    Time gathers in my hair
    and scurries around my waist
a few wrinkles around the eyes
    and the soothing comfort of
    Rub A5-35 on rainy nights

    Lap 27
    Round 5
    Squirrel

    I love to watch you,
    sneaking around the parks,
stuffing your cheeks full of nuts
and seeds, to only go burrow
them deep in the ground that
    sprout beautiful trees -
    you create nature.

    Lap 27
    Round 6
    Wild Card - nature

    The texture of your spine
brushes my fingertips and I am
    caught somewhere 'tween
the knot in your shoulder blades
the hole in your chest and
    brush of your rough hair
    skimming my forehead.

    Lap 27

    Insect

    Creepy crawler on the wall

    Lap 27

    Yeah, she may talk

    Lap 27
    Round 9
    Superhero

    Captain America

I've always wondered if Captain America
would take the hand of an Australia girl -
sweep her away with his guns and
protect her with his blue and red shield.
I'd tattoo the US flag on my heart
if I knew he'd tattoo my cheeks with his lips.

    Lap 27
    Round 10
    Cooking

    BBQ hamburgers on the grill
all that fat, enough to kill

Pie and tarts, sweet cream pie
so much sugar, I'll surely die

    Momma always said
    a good wife can
    throw together a great
feast in a matter of minutes

    little did she know
how much my man can eat

    [Haiku]

    She has orange wings
    dotted around the edges -

    Lap 27
    Round 12
    7 lines

My fingers are worn with the
    unfinished concepts of an artist,
    nail dirtied with charcoal and
paint sprawling up my wrist in
    unforgiving shapes -
Sometimes I sketch my thoughts on
my palms and let them wash away.

    Lap 27
    Round 13
    Magic

    Every moment,
    another breath born
    yet another breath lost

    we are all just
    floating images
    that haven't become
    a part of -
    the past yet

    And like magic
    we'll all someday disappear

    Lap 28
    Round 1
    Grandmothers

I'd find you in the kitchen
    dressed in your nightgown
    every morning with sleepy eyes,
    listening to the kettle hissing
upon the burner as the sun
    peeked through the window.

    You'd watch the birds
    nibbling on bread crumbs
    'til your toast was finished,
pour yourself a cup of coffee,
and sit down to read the
    daily newspaper.

    Lap 28
    Round 3
    aabba rhyme

    Half past midnight going insane
my hands asleep from all the pain
as the marathon end draws near
I think I will wipe a final tear
    Abby's challenges rock, ain't she a dear

    Lap 28
    Round 4
    Free Verse

    We become snapping turtles
    at times with vile words
    upon our tongues,
    yet forced to live together
for we are connected in blood.

    Lap 28
    Round 5
    Squirrels

    Somewhere at a
    black jack table they're
    gambling with their nuts -
    acorns spread 'cross
    green grassed felt
    and lady chipmunks
    squealing at their side.

    I am starting to think
    men are like squirrels.

    Lap 28
    Round 6
    Wild card (17 syllable)

    Dancing in the cold rain
    soaking wet
    but who cares

  • Courageous Dreamer

    Lap 28
    Round 7
    Insect

    She landed next to me,
yet stood as still as a statue
freezing my thoughts like ice cubes,
    teaching me patience
    and offering peace,
    never moving 'til her heart
    connected with her mind.

    Lap 28
    Round 8
    Acrostic

    Just because you're the eldest
of four doesn't mean we wont kick your ass!
Steven will pull on your curls while i'll
Eventually manage to hide all your golf balls..
Perhaps Kevin will glue your shorts to a chair again?
How we love you, our kangaroo Joey!

    Lap 28
    Round 9
Superhero OR mythological being OR movie star -

He swoops at the speed of light
    snatching evil by the collar,
    more powerful than a locomotive
crushing vehicles with his bare hands
with the strength of a hundred men

He is superman - the greatest superhero
    of my time

  • Courageous Dreamer

    Lap 28
    Round 10
    Cooking

I'm always dusted with flour head to toe,
    ingredients scattered everywhere,
and somehow, at the end of the night
everything is plastered to my arms.

  • Melpomene

    Lap 28
    Round 11
    Nature

    Sometimes she creeps
    within my window - shadows
    stalking, friend or foe?
    she is the phantom that
    falls from mother nature,
    performing me a
    midnight picture show.

    Lap 28
    Round 12
    Seven lines

    The end is drawing near
    as moments tick on by
there is a part of me
    that silently wishes
for another day to this marathon
yet I dare not speak -
for the M&Ms will have my head

    Lap 28
    Round 13
    Magic

she tossed a picture of him
    into a burning vanilla flame,
while kissing the heart shaped locket
around her neck, 'til ashes formed -
    dissolving him from her life.
