Pain

What is the purpose of pain? Emotional, psychological, spiritual, etc. physical is pretty self explanitory.

Can we learn without pain? Do we have to experiance it to not make mistakes?

Discuss what place pain has in the human situation:

Pain is the most useful tool the body has.

As a learning moderator pain teaches us more than anything else.

That's why I'm all for corporal, capital and general punishment.

Think about this.. if we didnt have Physcial pain, we would die within a year. Pain and hurting shows us DANGER. EX. you touch the stove with your finger, you feel pain and you know to stay away from the stove. If we didnt have pain we wouldnt feel anything, and if it were something more dangerous, we would end up killing ourselfs and not even knowing..

    Kinda confusing.. sorry

Physical pain is self explanitory. I mean what is the USE of emotional, mental, spiritual, and any other kind of pain that you can think of, and no this is not for a school project. I have been out of school for a year now.

    Just seeing what people think.

I think that the USE of pain, why it is helpful on an emotional, mental, and spiritual level is that it drives us to strive for goodness and health. If something "hurts" and doesnt feel "comftorable" it is associated with being WRONG. Nature in itself (unmessed with and pure) is always in a constant state of balance and restructuring, hence it has a natural process of perfection. This is why when we are feeling healthy there is no deterioration or break down in the system. This goes for any other kind of pain as well, not just physical. Pain is an indicator something is going wrong.

All of life is running from pain like a mouse in a maze. The only thing that drives us and keeps us afloat is the constant chase of pain behind us.

So why do you think some people would like pain? Or WANT to be depressed? Dig deep, guys.

And Bret, and anyone who agrees with him, being for corporal punishment do you think spanking your kids is ok to teach them something? Or hitting your girlfriend for cheating on you, or even torchering wrongdoers and crimincals? What about the self inflicted corporal punishment that some religious sects demonstrate, do you think that pain is a gateway into euphoria or even Heaven and evolvement?

Spanking kids is a big yes. I got whacked plenty and I think I've come though just fine.

I do not now and never have condoned hitting women (for any reason). The only time my gloves came off is when she struck first, even then I only slapped once.. and that was more an impetuous sexual alpha male drive thing than anger, too.

Prisoners? Torture? No. Punishment? Yes. HARD labour, solitary and lashings for disobediance inside. Prison is soft, something to be proud of these days. If I was in charge there wouldn't be crime becuause no one would want to go MY jail.

I'd also incorporate the death penalty for dealing, drug money launderers and smugglers. That would stamp out almost the entire drug trade and cut crime drastically.

I'd be HARSH but fair. Murder? Death. Rape? Death. Paeds.. DEATH.

I'd need 100% proof first, no waiting about after either, save the tax payers some money and crucify them straight away.. line the streets.

I know it's a hard line, but we need some discipline and proper respect in this world and right now we haven't got a tenth of what we had before WW2.

Pain is a primal instinct, I'd use it to the maximum effect.

I think that the sick and twisted thing is that I agree with Bret.

100% proof is the only problem

I think that hitting kids is relative to their personalities, really. And I obvoiusly dont condone battery of kids, but I would spank my kids if they were out of line I suppose.

Pain is the only teacher that leaves a lasting impression. Its the electric fence psychology trick. Any experiance that leaves you in pain puts an "electric fence," invisible if subconscious and out in the open if it is a memory, around the person, circumstance, or situation that the pain was encountered in or with. Just like a dog.

    lol.

"Its life" is my phrase to get out of anything that I dont want to have to find the answer too.

I suggest that you look beyond "life" and look deeper into the reality that defines it.

This could be a very deep topic, but people dont seem to be biting.

when you get used to seomthing you just live with it and learn to adapt to its idea when in actual reality the pain hurts you in the long run but just a thought

I kind of disagree that not everything has a reason.

Everything in existance has a purpose, it evolves that way.

And what does self inflicted pain or depression mean if people NEVER enjoy pain? Even sexual pain, people think its kinky, emotional pain, people will put themselves in one bad relationship after the other, battery, people will not leave battered relationships, etc.
