Age is nothing but a number?

Age is nothing but a number? ... is it?

If it really is the case then what's the difference between sex, paedophilia, and statutory rape?

    My view:

I see this posted so much on this forum and honestly I think it's a bunch of horse crap.

Age is nothing but a number my arse.

The only time age becomes nothing but a number is when you turn 18 and become a legal adult. There's a good reason there are laws in place. I understand that different countries have different laws, Canada being a prime example of staggered ages of consent, but that doesn't detract from the fact that all kids are still growing physically, mentally and emotionally.

    Thoughts? (Serious thoughts that is.)

When you reach 25 you'll understand just fine, trust me.

In general I agree with you, Bret.

    There are considerations.

I am seeing an older guy and I am under age. We realize the law and therefor have never done anything physically. That is a responsible choice that we have made, however I am incredably mature and well adjusted for my age and I would NOT support any other 16 year old that I know doing what I am doing.

So I agree, but I am a bad example.

What is the law concerning the age of consent in the US (does it go on a state by state basis?)

I think its 18 everywhere, but I am not 100% sure.

I would just like to stick up for the silver spooned spoiled brats for one second and say that I am one and I am much more mature than any other teenager I have ever met, and most adults.

It is personality, I know many kids who have been through hard times and cannot rise to the occasion because they are not mature enough to do so, when I would be able to handle it hands down.

However your generalization could be correct... in general.

Conversley, Kaitlin, you're not running around shagging everything with a dangly set and a pulse, are you?

Well statutory rape only counts if there is sexual lewdness or contact.

I dont think love necessarily has an age limit because love between two people is a connection, it does depend on maturity level hands down, but age is not always a correct indicator of what the person is like, not at all.

I wouldnt be with an older man if I didnt love him, but im not going to do anything stupid and get him thrown in jail either.

If we love each other enough we can wait.

Although I understand you completely this is totally removed from love, this is just about the link between age and behaviour.

When it comes to stautory rape:

On this site alone I've seen numerous 13 year olds talking about doing stuff with 20 year olds 14 an 18 and so on and so forth.

Being blunt, that is my angle.
