I still don't think its about a woman and her rotundness. I definitely got more out of it than that.

I think it could definitely be on the front page, and I don't really care if its offensive. I'm overweight myself and it tapped into the mindset of my own - sometimes you have a loss of sense or a feeling of low self esteem. Fat, skinny, tall, short, red, blue, whatever, everyone has those moments of self doubt.

As for reading it from a child's perspective, it definitely makes sense. Kids don't have filters, its why I love them so much. They tell it like it is without worrying about being PC.

    Abbyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

I LOVED your poem for two reasons:

First of all, I have some kind of phobia, I fear being fat so I starve myself, I went to the hospitals MORE than 5 times just because of a diet I have seen online and started to follow, sometimes I spend days without eating anything, just water and vitamines, and I know that this is wrong, it is not about my shape, it is about (and as my Bri has said) low self-esteem, and I am struggling to get over this, my boyfriend always complains that I'm too skinny and that he doesn't like me like that but I don't know, somehow when I look at myself in the mirror I see a fat woman, lol, I am soooo afraid of being fat in the future and that everyone will pout when they see me, again, I have to agree what something that Britt has stated everyone has those moments of self doubt, and your poem represents me 100%
Sometimes, feeling unsatisfied with yourself is not about your shape/eyes-color or the way you dress, or the people you talk to, or the places you are used to sit in and drink a teacup or whatever. It is about the self-esteem, and ONLY the self-esteem.

    The second reason:
Your poetical abilities...Abby you have a way with words that makes me sometimes...like I cannot even imagine myself to write in your way. So touching, so poetical, so direct, yet keeps me interested, and...in this poem, your wording was so darn sad.

So, definitely worth a front page win.

EDITED: Omggggg, Abby, they will be 3 wins in a raw!!! I'm jealous! Lol.

Poetess, sorry to hear about your eating disorder. I'm not sure reading my poem would do you any favours there. Please take care.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be just as fat as Miss King as soon as I hit 30. She was the first obese person I had ever seen. I had seen many starving people on the streets, but never one so marvellously fat. She was my first teacher in Australia and the nicest one I ever had.

...so no one here thinks this poem is slightly upsetting or controversial? How disappointing.

I was talking about my self-esteem, not about me being fat, although it is one of my fears. Got me?

This poem isn't controversial, at all, why would you want it to be like this, lol?

The poem itself is well written I believe. The way a child sees things. The way we probably saw things when we were younger as well.

Being a bigger girl myself I can also see her side of things and how heartbreaking it can be when someone sees you that way. Children can't help it but there are some adults who judge and think the way the children do (but worse)

I do not find this poem offensive

I find it sad but again, well written
