    Happy Halloween!

Our three winners this week were pretty highly scored. Congratulations to the following!

    ******************************

Miss King is Fat, by abracadabra

"Completely thick with evocative imagery, this poem is a sensitive, funny, and sad portrait. It succeeds artistically, even with somewhat delicate subject matter. While I don't know if it's about a person who is literally real, Miss King becomes real in every sense of the word that matters. At the risk of sounding like a rabid fan, I have to say that abby has an eye and a style that most of us would love to possess. This poem will go straight onto my favorites list." (10)
    ...
"Third week in a row that I feel like poet deserves the front page. All three poems have had a bit of spice, controversy, story, imagery..the list goes on. Abby finds a way to take poetry to another level. I love the idea behind this poem, the idea I got from reading it, and the feel of it. Some people did not like this poem, however I feel they took it as face value. I do not feel this is a poem mocking someone. I feel this has much more back story and intent behind it with a strong message. Brilliant!" (10)

""Being fat is one of my fears, and I'm sure it's the worst nightmare anyone could ever have, I always starve myself in order to keep fit, when I put on weight, a little bit, I begin to be less confident about myself, and I began to be depressed, tempered and worried, the worry, te hopelessness within this piece is perfect, at least, to me, for I can relate to it 100%. Definitely deserved my vote." (4)

    Sleep, by Narphangu

"I thought this poem was fun and effective experiment with format. It feels like the writing is organic, and did not experience much editing. Fortunately, this author has the chops to get away with this, most of the time. I thought the poem was fresh, and it actually kind of succeeded in making me sleepy. In this case, I think that's a good thing." (7)

    ------
"This poetess is perfection, her writes always hit to the core, her original thoughts always are the peak of perfection, I don't think I have much to say about this piece, only that I adored everything about it" (7)

    *****************************************************************************

    Monkey Woman by Silvershoes

    Vote without comment (4)
    ---
"Strange poem that made me feel strange.. almost like I was on drugs watching something and tripping out, to be honest. The images were odd and I felt all over the place. Someone may wonder why I voted for this poem, and simply put, it's freakin' fantastic. It's weird, it's odd, it's like nothing I've read before, and it's purely great poetry. It brings something new to the table that we don't see. This is the abstract art of poetry." (7)
    ---
"This is an example of a poem that starts off fairly simply, but that is taken to another level by the grace of its ending. The animal images are fun, but the "head shaking" is both fun and exquisite." (4)

    Honorable Mentions:

Mother, Mother in the Grave by the Poetess
    Vote without comment (7)

With so much rawness and pure sadness, the poetess can make your heart swell with her amazing images and her casual tone of bitterness and growing weary. What I like the most in here are the questions. They just entices you like magnet! And between 'grave' and 'stave' is a journey of breathlessness, heartaches, and eternal tears. I cannot tell you more about that... MY words would be meaningless if I analyze what is intended in the poem. Just great.. great.. (7)

The Poem Of All Poems, by Lebanese Phoenix

"The writer has penned his funny piece, perfectly, it's the first time I read a funny poem on here and laughed from my heart, haha!! I could comprehend what he wanted to say by putting some titles into it, for sure it still has not that much of emotions, yet a different thing to read" (10)

    ***************************************************************************
On A Raft Made of Yesterdays by Hellon aka Miss Take

"This is one of the softest pieces I have ever read. It's so just, beautiful. I can't begin to explain the feeling it gave me. I've read this a few times and just feel wistful. Gorgeous write." (4)
    ---
This read is spun with flawless metaphorical scenes and immense nostalgic emotions. What caught my eyes at first is its title, so my thoughts were provoked: a raft made of yesterdays? What images I can picture from those words! (the smell of old rain lingers
I drift...) - In the opening stanza I was mesmerized by what the author had to offer. Though reading this verse alone would sound cliche, especially because of the use of 'rain lingers', to me, it wasn't. It had some creativity in it... Also, the repetition of the word 'dreaming' prompt you to dream... maybe close your eyes and wander in never land. 'As the moon slept upon a hammock' - I really like this verse. It's simple, but creative, as a crescent appears that it's(he's) taking a nap upon a hammock. How smooth and mystic that is! Also, 'indigo' has this bold tone because of the 3 stressed syllables, and its color, of course.
    'Tawny skin glistened
    in wilting humid air
    as liquid knees dissolved
    upon a bed of jasmine.'
^ Definitely my favorite descriptive stanza. This remembers me of the intro of 'If I Die Young - The Band Perry' - it holds so much originality and colorful images. The last stanza is definitely epic, for it shows the time difference between the same world. A night in here, can be light over there: between tomorrow and yesterday!! Brilliant, and definitely worth a front page. (10)

Dry your eyes, girl. by Tara Kay

"A poem of undisputed sadness. I can tell you that this poem in not 100% tightly structured, but I was overwhelmed with the content, regardless of other factors. The content reminds me of a song 'Breathless' by Taylor Swift. It was sung for Haiiti. With the same tone and tenderness in the simple words, I was dragged into the atmosphere instantly. It's just about lending a hand to others... maybe with lending a hand to others, you'd be lending a hand to life, 'the greatest gift of all'. I was really amazed by some stanzas.. really amazed. Wonderful write of pure emotions." (4)

-I kind of put this up in a hurry, so let me know if there is anything missing!

Thanks very much for the win, I wasn't expecting it since Monkey Woman was at a 3.3 the other day. That's the lowest overall score I've ever received. But yeah, thank you, I love all the comments I've gotten. Comments rule!

Excellent work judges, I know your job ain't easy. Thanks for posting up the results, mod. Was it Sib? I guess I should read the whole post.
    Congratulations winners and honorable mentions!

Narph is an M&M! I'll be the first to admit that. There's a core group that 'really' belongs to TC. You can tell who they are because they don't leave lol. Plus, I've noticed Narph's poetry turning M&M!
    Hey Narph :)

    "Plus, I've noticed Narph's poetry turning M&M!"

hahahahaha. I didn't know MM had a specific way... so I went back and read. I see the change lol.

Hahaha, I like the custody battle over Narph. Yeah, there are a few old fogeys in the Club who haven't left, but I kind of feel like if you've spent a good amount of time there, you're always counted as an official member.

Of course, if you're winning all these contests of course we'll try to claim you ; )

Yeehah. Thanks judges. Thanks, Miss King. I never knew how much of an impact she made on my life.

I feel doubly honoured this week with Jane's Monkey Woman winning. Very flattering. I think. Oo oo oo.

And triply honoured to be on the board with Narphy as well. Hello, old dude. 'Tween you and me, thy style hasn't changed much 'neath it all, 'pon my honour, 'tis -true-. Much affection to you and all M&Ms!

And I love MM for it. I love that you can laugh at yourselves even more, especially considering how obviously smart and poetically sensitive many of you are.

Wow, I just noticed that the winners this week have certainly been downvoted a fair bit. Poor Miss King has received a couple of brutal bruises from defensive poets. Loving it.
