Did any one else (on the East Coast) get hit with the blizzard? Over 800,000 people here in Connecticut were out of power (currently it's at 600,000 people with out power). |

No blizzards here, but the wind is picking up today. Wouldn't be surprised if some trees have split in half. |

Haha Sibs, nice or not so nice memory. In some locations of CT we got over 23 inches of snow. Personally where I live, I got approximately 18 inches. |

I agree Nano, I'm thankful that where I live we don't have to worry too much about natural disasters like earthquakes or tsunamis to worry about, I can't imagine what that would be like. Although, we do get blizzards most often, the odd tornadoes, are suitable to both drought and flood, which we had this year thanks to all the rain. |

My friend is over east working for FEMA, he said it was friggin' nuts. It's 37* and sunny as can be here. I don't usually get snow where I'm at.. maybe for one day a year on a normal year. Stay safe! |

Well, we used to have 4 seasons.. and winter was so generous... raining over hours per day (for 3.5..maximum 4 months)... this was like before 2008. |

You get snow? I guess I don't know a thing about Syria or it's land/weather etc.. lol. We have a Lebanon in Oregon, and their weather was on the news last night, I started crackin' up thinkin' about this. |

Well, a week off would be so nice, but I don't think the government is generous enough to give us something like that. At least, us the students. x) |

Haha, I was wondering when this would show up. My college got about a foot overnight. The next day there were trees and branches down absolutely everywhere.... needless to say, the whole valley was out of power, ANND then the generator died. |

Well, people are still out of power here. Currently the number without power is 300,000. |

Does that mean something good or bad? lol |

Bad...originally the number of people here in Connecticut that lost power was 800,000 and that was over a week ago. Now having been over a week that the storm has hit there are still over 300,000 people that have no power. That means 38% of the people who originally lost power still don't have power. Meaning they have no lights, heat, hot water, etc. In all honesty for the northeast (being that we deal with this kind of weather all the time) this is unacceptable. Power should've been on for everyone with in a few days not weeks. |

I remember during the 2006 war on Lebanon, electricity and water were off for like 4 days under bombs and ghost-like planes.. and if they came, they would come for like 3 hours/day. |

That sounds so terrible. The government must do something, because 38% is such a big, big number. I hope you are all alright there, Joe, keep us updated, okay? |

Unfortunately the government can only fund it. The power companies have to do the work putting in new power lines and connections. When Hurricane Ike came through Houston back three years ago our north side was without power, lights & phones for 5 weeks. They had crews come in from two states away working on it. Over 400,000 powerless. |
