Lovely song by the way, sad and optimistic at the same time, it talks of the beauty of love and describes how love is a wonderful experience, even with loss.
"Come on skinny love just last the year
Pour a little salt we were never here
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Staring at the sink of blood and crushed veneer"
This part I think means that the writer knows that their relationship will end, but hopes that it will continue despite the problems facing it and despite the pain it is causing. Salt when poured on a wound stops the blood from gushing, but it stings, and I think this is what the writer means. That love although it causing pain (metaphoric bleeding), it also stings to stop it and end the relationship.
"I tell my love to wreck it all
Cut out all the ropes and let me fall
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Right in the moment this order's tall"
I think here the person is expressing the tendency to end the relationship, and commit suicide (the love commits suicide) to get rid of the pain.
"I told you to be patient
I told you to be fine
I told you to be balanced
I told you to be kind
In the morning I'll be with you
But it will be a different "kind"
I'll be holding all the tickets
And you'll be owning all the fines"
This part is about how the writer wished himself to be a better lover, where he is sort of blaming himself for giving up and wanting love to "commit suicide", because he will still see his lover, and remember that they were once together and now it will be awkward because they're not, but they still bump into each other.
"Come on skinny love what happened here
Suckle on the hope in lite brassiere
My, my, my, my, my, my, my, my
Sullen load is full; so slow on the split"
Over here the writer is still asking himself to keep hoping, maybe this love still stands a chance.
"Now all your love is wasted?
Then who the hell was I?
Now I'm breaking at the britches
And at the end of all your lines"
Here the writer describes how he feels after he lost his love and says that maybe he didn't deserve it.
"Who will love you?
Who will fight?
Who will fall far behind?"
Here the writer regrets losing hope because he feels lonely without a lover.
