I've tried taking out all commas, apostrophes, semi colons; any punctuations, but nothing is working. :S

    1) The issue below has been fixed this morning, per pm from JANIS. Thanks again, wonderful Janis. No more "kick off" of the nomination lists. Hip hip hooray!

"Nominated poems bounce off the nomination page when the page is full, particularly those that have only 1 nomination. "

    2) Are comments still disappearing, after being posted and being visible on the poem. I know mine did today, after it successfully posted last night on this poem. I no longer have a copy unfortunately.
    http://www.best-love-poems.com/poems.php?id=1181524

    3) At least 1 person (above) is unable to post or edit her poems any more, despite a different browser, clearing the cache, removing special characters, ...just the title shows and the body says the poem is deleted. Does anyone else has this issue? Could this issue have anything to do with inadvertent Moderator restriction on the account? as she states that she cannot post anything to a new account either (assuming thast the 2 accounts share the same E-mail in her personal profile).

Mods and ex-mods please illuminate on #2 & 3. Thank you.

I'm still not sure about number 2. I'll see if Janis has checked in today.

On 3, I am not aware of any moderator actions that would restrict the posting of a poem. We can delete an existing poem, but can't just not allow someone to post. Again with that one, she (and everyone) will be notified as soon as we have an answer.

    Hooray for nominations!

There are no restrictions at all pertaining to posting a poem, besides the site limitations (won't allow you to post a poem containing certain words) for posting explicit poems and such.

I've just had a reply from Janis regarding a suggestion I made about having a centre feature for our poems and he said it was on his to do list.

While, we both agree that it will be way down at the bottom of his 'honey do's'list he says it should appear in a month or two!

Yeah, for a poetry site, that ought to be a given! Poor E. E. Cummings never would have made it here.

I know there is a program (called True Type, or something similar) where what you type into the box will be exactly what you see when it's posted. That would be nice.

Sibs, I've been experimenting with different fonts & find that my problems posting are with the TrueType fonts. Both Word & Wordperfect use them, for example with Times New Roman, Ariel & Courier. In these fonts the apostrophe is assigned the code "(4, 29)" whereas the apostrophe from ASCII, & txt has NO code assigned.

PS, not to be picky, but: e. e. cummings ;-)

Ah, I misnamed it then. There IS a program (or something) but I can't remember the name. My boyfriend was talking about it. I must have got the "True Type" from you, though.

P.S. I'm unsure about Mr. e. e. I had heard that he never wished for his name to be written like that - that it was actually a move by his publisher to make him more edgy. Time for a new episode of Poetic Mysteries!

Please be sure to read the rules and guidelines ( link on top ) as well as terms of use (link on bottom of page) since we have made a few changes.

    Thanks...

Lol.. some of the pages have our copyright of 2009-2011... but some pages (like the discussion board page) shows the 2001-2007.

  • sibyllene

I think they are slowly getting updated...

  • Britt

I assumed it would be one thing to change for the whole site. I see every page he's done work on has the updated C date now. I just thought I was going crazy..!

  • Jad

Do we know how much Janis is going to do or is he just doing whatever he sees fit?

  • Britt

I think I read he was going to do most everything on the mod's to-do list.

  • Jad

He'll be around on here for years then XD

  • Britt

LOL that's what he gets for abandoning us! :)

  • Jad

Well, better late then never I guess. I hope to see a lot of changes as I have already seen.

  • sibyllene

I keep getting afraid that we're going to scare him off by pestering him so much. He's gonna go "forget this! I don't need an 89 point long to-do list!" Though, like Britt implied, that's a to-do list that's accumulated over the last three years. Ha.

  • Jad

I agree with what she said as well, but is there really 89 things on that list??

  • PnQ Mod Account

Ha, no. But there are probably 40, and I bet we could think of another 49 ; )

  • Jad

Oh, okay and yes I'm sure we could. There are always things that would be really neat to have. :]

Shiny gadgets! Definitely. Just take a gander at the recommendations forums. Now that some of our big things have been taken care of, maybe we can start dreaming of fun ideas for once the current bugs are worked out.

  • Jad

That's true, Sibs. And yes I have gone through the listing of many different ideas in that forum. I'd be nice if maybe one mod or so could have some coding ability.

  • Lostlove1

It sure is nice to see Janis working so hard to update things.

    Thank you Janis!

    More updates:

    1) There was a problem with the second page of comments on poetry not showing up. This problem has been fixed - all comments should appear. If the actual comment count and the count listed in parentheses by the poem are not matching, don't worry. This is automatically corrected at the end of every week.

    2) There is no longer a limit to the number of authors you have on your Favorite list. Go nuts!

    3) You can now access who has you listed as a Favorite Author!

Janis has made some changes that should make the "Keep me signed in" box work.
Please let us know if you get logged off along with the following information:
    How long you were on before being dropped;
    which section you were in at the time you were dropped;
what action you were engaged in.

Thanks, and as always, be sure you copy whatever you attempt to post.

  • Britt

There is no 'keep me signed it' box, and also the option to register when you are logged out is not available.

  • Larry Chamberlin

Try again. I just logged out & both were there for me. if you do not see them, try hitting 'F5' to refresh. If they're still not there let me know.

  • Britt

Just tried - the box is there, but there was no option to register.

  • Britt

I see it now... very strange.

  • Lofallenve

I am able to post poems now. :)
Just in a funky. I have to send the poem in a message to another profile I made, copy the poem from the sent message and post it here. Lol

  • Britt

That is a really strange loophole. Janis is online the last I checked (about 5 seconds ago), you should try PMing him about it. I don't know if it's happening to anyone else so may be something specific with your account he can check into?

  • sibyllene

Janis is back in town, and doing lots of work with the mod tools and stuff. So, you guys might not see the changes, but they will sure make things run more smoothly behind the scenes! Which means, more time doing fun site things, less time doing petty work.

Lonely soul, you can see Larry's post on special characters above. Right now, the only problematic symbols I can think of are things like accents. Like ´, ˜, etc. Think of any other symbols you would be likely to use in a poem, and we'll test them out.

  • Decayed

^ mainly french symbols (accent d'eguille and others...)

Ive just noticed Threads in clubs can be stickied and locked, which is a great addition,
    Thanks Janis!

  • silvershoes

Yes, club managers have been given powers over their clubs. Managers may now sticky, lock, and delete their club's threads.

Moderators are now able to delete inactive clubs to decongest the active clubs page. If your club does not have a manager or assistant, it is considered inactive and will be deleted.
Clubs listed as closed have been deleted.

We are trying to figure out a way for clubs to not "die" when their managers quit or become inactive. Maybe giving managers the power to make other club members into managers?

Club member count should be accurate. It was inaccurate before.

  • sibyllene

Loving these sweet, sweet changes. Those club issues have been really annoying in the past. Yay yay yay yay!

  • Sylvia

Janis added move, delete, lock, sticky for managers and assistants to use in clubs. I used Sticky on a thread and it does not remain at the top of the topics. I posted an additional comment on a thread below it and that thread moved ahead of the sticky one.

EDIT: After I left the Club Discussion and then returned the sticky item had returned to the top as intended.

Please make it possible for a club to change managers when the current one is sick or has to leave the site.
