Dear Members and Moderators,

Please compile all site issues that you come across due to the server switch here [and/or any suggestions/ideas you'd like to see implemented]. I will keep updating this to compile the list in this first post.

Thanks for your time and thanks for your patience with these matters. I'm sure with in due time, they will be resolved and fixed.

P.S. Mods, can you please inform me if anything on these lists have been resolved and/or if there have been any more updates, so I can change the lists. Thank you.

RELATED ISSUES DUE TO SERVER SWITCH:

1) Favorite poets being deleted after a few days

2) Poems still being seen in clubs after member leaves that club, and rejected poet's poems showing up in club despite rejection

3) Under the favorite topics button if you have more than 1 page of Favorited threads if you try to click to page 2 or any besides the main page, it automatically takes you to the "your topics" button instead.

4) The site is still not posting NON-ASCII characters.

5) Spell checker is not working.

6) When posting in a forum, it always redirects you back to the TOP of the page, instead of the bottom (like it used to).

ISSUES DUE TO CURRENT UPDATES:

1) On member profiles it shows that you are in a club even if you are in the application process.

GENERAL ISSUES [AND SUGGESTIONS] TO BE ADDRESSED:

1. The voting system - Fix or discard

2. Weekly contest -

a) Nominations page; some poems slipping off the page (only 25 or so poems can stay on the current nominations page, ones with only one nomination sometimes disappear.)

b) Altering the points distribution for each poem: There is a big difference between 10pts and 4pts for poems that may be almost equally worthy of a win in a given week.

c) If possible, it would be nice to have it as an anonymous contest: Judges don't know who wrote what poem, don't know what poems other judges voted for etc. Not sure how this would work of if it were possible.

3) Cleaning up the site: Updating the layout, etc. Including:

a) Club lists: Old unused clubs could be deleted.

b) New sorting category for poems: Being able to sort poems on your profile by genre, not having to pidgeon-hole your poem into sub-genres etc.

c) The new addition to the front page as unnecessary (adding top rated poems) as they already have their section. It only clogs up the main page with the same poems over and over. A daily featured poem would be better in this space, rotated from past weekly winners randomly if possible. It would be interesting to have a different old poem to read each day. Although that might be asking a wee bit much!

4) Security - Obviously needs updating.

5) The newsletter at the bottom of the home page doesn't work. It would be nice if it did, even a monthly or fortnightly one.

6) The nominations page: If the nominator won't appear on the nomination page under the poems name would be MUCH better, in order to make every poem get less nominations so that more poems will got nominated. Judges should be changed monthly for all to have their own chance to judge. Senior or not senior members must have the right to nominate poems. More than five judges must judge the poems.

7) No member can vote without leaving a comment that explains that vote.

8) Make it IMPOSSIBLE to hack clubs.

9) Club managers could be granted more powers over their clubs. It would be nice to be able to delete threads and a few other things.

10) The ability to change managers without having to start a new club or allow two managers at the same time in cases of illnesses and absence of the original manager.

11) Chat System? Yes/No?

12) The (c) 2001-2007 by Poems & Quotes needs to be updated at the bottom of this page.

13) Sticking threads in clubs isn't working

14) Search feature for pms [with ability for an advanced search, including more than one search term and/or field. E.G. by keyword or even by name].

15) Option to "lock" or select (like in email) what PM's we delete rather than a mass delete only.

16) Spell checker with grammar check with it (like on Word).

17) A "site-wide poll" system. Have a column and a button to vote on, with a link perhaps above your "private messages", where mods can post questions to all P&Q members to answer, with a set deadline. This would be a very effective way to get consensus on issues from as many P&Q members as possible very quickly without posting a forum, in which only a few members participate. The poll could also help resolve heavily disputed issues in the forums. Poll results then could be posted in the same area, showing how many voted for, against or were neutral (in the middle).

18) Like the new "...members who have added you to their favorites." option, there should be an option to see which poems of yours people have Favorited and how many times the poem has been Favorited. This can be done by just adding a simple counter to your poem page under the other counters (Visits, Votes, Rating).

19) Unread comments (when you log in) disappear after someone praises it (before you even get a chance to read it). Therefore, it is possible the poet may miss comments, because they weren't notified.

RESOLVED ISSUES DUE TO SERVER SWITCH:

1) The rn characters (html codes)and loss of formatting when you post or edit a poem.

2) The inability to look at "more" poems in any members account. The server gives you an error. I have posted a temp solution to it in the recent threads.

3) The difficulty loading new pictures/avatars....though they are sized right and are correct format...the server says they are not JPEG, although they are JPEG.

7) Quotation marks and hyphens can be copied from a word document into posts and poems.

9) PMs provide a link to recipient's profile

10) Weekly contest nominations should not disappear anymore.

11) There is no longer a limit to the number of authors you have on your Favorite list. Go nuts!

12) You can now access who has you listed as a Favorite Author!

13) There was a problem with the second page of comments on poetry not showing up. This problem has been fixed - all comments should appear. If the actual comment count and the count listed in parentheses by the poem are not matching, don't worry. This is automatically corrected at the end of every week.

14) You can view latest poems, quotes and comments written by your favorite authors in account news page.

15) Club managers may now sticky, lock, and delete their club's threads.

16) There is a "correspondence" button in PMs. If you click on the button, it takes you to a list of all your past conversations with that person.

JANIS IS WORKING ON THESE ISSUES:

1) Special characters like ^a^ which appear when you copy and paste stuff from a word file, in place of " or other letters.

2) Center feature for poems

I know this isn't too serious, but it might be a bit confusing.
During the time of the application being shown for club managers and assistants, it will say in the applicants profile that they belong to the club. So basicially in case the application isn't answered for a few days, it will say in the profile of the person who applied, that they are a member of the club they applied to.
I hope you understand what I mean.

Janis has told us that he should be working on club issues next. Hopefully we'll see some improvements in that area!

I don't know if this has already been adressed but why does it seem that my forum post have been cut in half on my profile page?

Janis could have deleted a bunch of old threads perhaps?

I guess. I was kinda surprised to see it drop:P I'll just have to talk more I guess.

Jad, mine was cut by 7,000 posts. Like Britt. said, it's possible he's been deleting a lot of old threads (even though that shouldn't affect your post count) and has re-coded it so that the count only records posts that are still posted and not deleted.

It would be really nice to remain logged on indefinitely on this site, instead of being automatically logged off every week or so and having to look up my login info all the time.

It would also be great too, if we could comment directly under a person's comment in the discussion forums (to whom the comment pertains), instead of always landing at the bottom of the page.

Kiko, you can already do the that (comment to someone above or under you) simply by clicking "post answer" under that persons name. Then when you go to comment, it will show that persons post instead of the last post.

From what I've noticed, you can click on different post to reply to them, and it will show that specific post above yours as you are typing it, so you can reference it and such, but your post always ends up at the bottom of the threads.

On another note, I do believe something with the spellcheck is not working correctly when you try to use it with copy and pasted poems. This is a recent issue I think because it didn't used to do this till after the server change, or after Janis started fixing things. The last couple times I've triedto use spell check with a poem I've copied and pasted into it, it pops up with the words "this is a test" in the spell check rather than actually checking the poem for spelling errors. It seems to work fine if you type the poem in however. I'm not sure if anyone else has had this issue or not, or if people just don't use spellcheck enough to notice.

It would be great if Janis could fix the comments to where if someone else praises your comment before you get online to read it, it still shows up as an unread comment. I just noticed I had a few comments that I missed because someone praised a bunch of them before I got the chance to even read them.

actually the inbox ain't updating, the number of messages increases however I only find the old messages.

Can't see the online members list either, keeps showing me the same 3 members ...

We should have the option to block the people we don't want near our poetry with their pathetic useless comments.

Yaki, normally we allow all comments on poems as long as they are related to the poem, but you can always complain on comments so we can check for things like harassment, if you think someone is targeting your poetry specifically.

Perhaps, you and Larry and others can test whether other issues with non-ASC II characters have been resolved too. If not, please post the issues with specific characters to avoid. Thanks.

David, I think Larry talked about those issues in the other Janis thread. I'll see if I can find it.

Can Janis do anything to bloke comments on poems that turn into conversations ? Eg...Loved your poem hun../glad you liked it/...I did/....I wrote it for you/...sigh/...etc...All of a sudden there are 20 comments wracked up and not one is relating to the content of the poem which...in general is not worth reading.....please Janis...isn't that why you created the pm system...?

^^I agree with Hellon on this one! There is one in peticular that has been posting and commenting like that ALOT. I dont even read (his ? their) poetry anymore...because of it.

Eh, it happens, but I don't think it hurts anything. When I see that I just scroll right on over. The only way I can think to block it would be to have every comment submitted for review. No thank you!

Two things for wish list:

1. Mass Delete for Sent Messages

2. Limit the length of the display name for accounts.

Just something I've noticed with the new correspondence thingy that's been added. If you have clicked on it and are in conversation with another member...pms from other members go straight into you pm box and do not show up as new messages.

I have had a few people mention to me that they no longer have access to nominating poems. I assume Janis did something, but did he tell you guys what he changed it to?

I've been trying to change my user picture for a few days now. It keeps saying it has been uploaded successfully (and I've tried about 4 times now), but the photo just hasn't changed. Is there anything I could be doing wrong? The size is fine and it is a jpeg file.

I see a black and white picture with you taking a pic of yourself, head kind of turned. Is that the new pic or old?

Sometimes you have to log off and log back on to see avatar changes.

I can no longer nominate poems. I thought the new rules wouldn't be applied to old members.I have been here since 2009 and I have 4 praised comments.If the new changes were made officially, I guess I shouldn't be punished because they are officially NOW. Changes made in the detriment of the old members aren't changes.THEY ARE PUNISHMENT.

If you refresh your browser the new one should appear. If not, delete the cookies and browser history and login back in.
