There currently is no way to send a PM to all members of the site or of an individual club. The manager and assistants could use the ability to send one PM to all club members to notify them of changes to the site and or their club.

OK, so you going to tell me the correct name for it & the circumstances?

  • Britt

I think this is/was on the "to do" list for Janis, but there is a bigger idea to it now..

When people praise a comment left on your poem, it doesn't show up as a new comment. Shouldn't it be up to the author if they want the comment praised...? Or have it so the comment doesn't even show up until the author views it. I'm still running into an issue where comments on my poems are being missed because someone praised them before I got the chance to read, and that really sucks.

Actually, it's not a blue vest.

It's a striped black and white scarf which is an icon of the Palestinian soceity , originally called "Kofiya" ..

circumstances? -- I was on the school theater in our last year's school production: The HunchBack of NotreDame, and I was a gypsy -.- ... Lights are reflected on clothes, that's why they appear blue!

"Or have it so the comment doesn't even show up until the author views it."

    Good idea.

    Another request:

Add an additional field on praised comments that show the name of the moderator that approved it.

^ Sylvia, we came up with that idea just a few days ago! It looks like we're leaning toward doing it.

    Really, Britt? Really?

Why do you make a fuss about that? It's not an issue if someone praised a praiseworthy comment on your poem. IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII praised one or two I guess, knowing that YOU READ THEM... because you already PRAISED comments after the comment I praised on the same poem.

    EVIDENCE:

Tara Kay commented on your poem 1st. So, I praised it. YOU didn't.

then BLISSFUL commented after Tara. YOU praised it before I praised Tara's.

sooooo... You read Tara's and you didn't praised it.

    --

And I've been praising a lot of comments,, not just comments on one of your poems....

just to keep it fair, eh?

  • Britt

I'm sorry LP, take a breather. I did not praise Tara Kay's comment because I did not feel it was praiseworthy. She copy and pasted my poem and then left a line or so per stanza stating what she liked. In my opinion, that wasn't praise worthy. I have nothing against her, I have praised plenty of other comments by her. That wasn't what I was talking about.

My problem is when someone does praise a comment, if the author hasn't logged in and been able to take the time to read said comment, it disappears. I don't care who praised it - I just think it's silly that comments show as "read" when the author of the poem hasn't gotten the chance to see the comment yet.

I don't praise all the comments I receive. You can look at the comments on my poem Mosaic - yes I did Bliss' because I felt she went into it. I did not praise Yaki's because, while long, I did not feel it was praiseworthy.

I didn't realize that was happening, Britt. I have noticed comments that seem to show up magically, so maybe that's what has been going on this whole time. Ha.

  • Decayed

I'm not saying you have anything against anyone, I just meant that such comments are yes, praiseworthy, so they shouldn't go not praised.

  • sibyllene

A lot of that is subjective, LP. If you think something is praiseworthy that Britt doesn't, you're free to praise it. Maybe a mod will agree with you and it will be approved.

  • Decayed

    Um, wrong..
If what I said was subjective, then why did a mod approve my praising?

  • Britt

Because while I don't feel it's praiseworthy, it doesn't mean someone else, including a mod, thinks the same way. I have praised comments that weren't praised before because I felt they were praiseworthy, while the author probably did not.

Again, I just want my comments to show up, thats my only issue. :(

  • silvershoes

    Subjective. Adj
-Based on or influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions

Whether a poem is praise-worthy or not is subjective. Britt may think a comment isn't. LP may think it is. I may think a comment isn't. Mel may think it is.

It really isn't up for debate, that's just how it is.

    ----

I, like Sibs, didn't know this was an issue until Britt brought it up. It will get fixed.

So I have a suggestion: if a poet thinks that the comment made isn't praiseworthy, state why and support your point of view.Lets us be honest, some poems allow long in-depth comments, some others such a thing is impossible. We all have the right to praise or not a poem as long as it is said the reason why that specific comment is not good because if the criteria is like/dislike, it is devoided of meaning.

I'm sorry to bring this back up ^^^further up the page I asked about this but...it hasn't been addressed and...as it's happened again I'll bring it back to the table. It appears that...when you are using the new correspondence feature other pm's go straight into your mail box and do not show up as new...therefore they can get missed. I've only noticed this because of the contest where I'm bringing up correspondence between Larry and myself to refresh my memory...twice members have pm'd me when I'm using this feature and twice I've missed their pms.

  • Decayed

Jane I think I know what subjective means.. so thanks anyway, good for you

  • Melpomene

Hellon, sorry your issue hadn't been addressed earlier. So when you are using the new correspondence feature and you receive a new PM you aren't being alerted of this on your account info page? Is this only happening when you're reading the correspondence of the particular person who sent you the PM or are all PM alerts being affected?

  • Hellon

I'm not sure Mel...as I said..I've only noticed it recently. The first time was when I was offering my first bonus points for the contest..I had opened up the correspondence between Larry and myself and I almost missed the last person to pm me claiming their points.

The second time...I'm not sure exactly when it happened but..a member had showed interest previously and..I pm'd them today...apparently they pm'd me asking for details..but I was again in correspondence with Larry at the time and it didn't show as new so...I totally missed this one.

    *Edit

I don't mean that I was necessarly speaking with him at the time (that seldom happens because of the time zones)..I go on to update all correspondence and that seems to be when the problem comes up.

  • Melpomene

The correspondence window is part of the PM system so I am assuming that when open the site might be "thinking" that you're viewing your inbox. I'll leave a note in the mod room and Janis will be able to check this issue out. Thanks for letting us know.

  • Kevin

The mods are too hot and it's not fair. It makes me want to be bad so they will chastise me.

    *note* not the wrongers.

  • sibyllene

Adding on to Mel's answer, I know this happens to me only when I'm already "in" the PM system. Like, if I'm reading a message from Britt, and Jane messages me while I'm reading, Jane's won't show up as new. Like Mel says, I think the site just assumes you can see it since you're in PM, even if you haven't viewed the individual new message.

Kevin, you should see the picture I made melding Mel, Jane, and my avatars together. We're pretty collectively attractive. Just waiting for Larry to add his mustache.
