Is the "Visited Poems" thing new? I don't think I've seen that before.

It's been around for maybe a month or two.

What would you guys say are the top priorities to bring up with Janis at this point?
Although he's back, he is also under the weather, so we have the rest of this week to kick around the needs/wish list, &
If you want to, send him a get-well-soon PM

    Pretty exciting Janis is back!

If anyone PM's Janis tell him to drink honey and Lemon. Larry advises him of Jack Daniels but I'm sure my recipe is a killer cure and Jack is just a killer. I went away for uni to an island and a guy fell down two flights of stairs holding his Jack bottle in hand, (he didn't drop it mind you, what dedication) if that doesn't prove my point I don't know what does haha.

We might need to take a look at our honey-do list hey Larry, update it a bit. I think he may of crossed a couple of things off before he left.

On visited poems it shows the oldest that you have viewed, not the most recent, it would be nice to have most recent at top.
Also more than one page on account news, too many times someone will comment on a poem that I am interested in reading but I can't find it again on account news because there is only one page of most recent.

I know these are simple requests, I will leave the hard ones up to everyone else, unless I can think of some.

What's left on the honey do list?

Fixing the spell check would.be nice, last time I tried it still said test.

For one thing, if you hit 'correspondence' with another member, it will show both sides of your conversation only so far & then it eliminates your side of the PMs.

  • Britt

It eliminates it after you've deleted their PMs from your inbox - it will keep the sent PMs because we can't delete those.

  • Larry Chamberlin

Except I've never deleted any PMs. And it is my sent PMs that don't show up.

  • Decayed

    Yup, Larry is right.
    Not all correspondence is shown!

  • Britt

I mean when the other person deletes it - it then doesn't show up.. lol. I delete my PMs all the time, and Temps was telling me as soon as I delete them they disappear for her.

  • Larry Chamberlin

That makes more sense, although I wonder why it doesn't just take it from my own 'sent' folder?

  • Britt

I knew I had it backwards, lol. I don't know why it wouldn't - but it would be nice if we could delete both the sent and inbox, but it still stay in the correspondence thread.

There are 3 things at the moment which I think should be top priority, and they are...

    1) Security - Obviously needs updating.

    2) The (c) 2001-2007 by Poems & Quotes needs to be updated at the bottom of this page.

    3) Search feature for pms [with ability for an advanced search, including more than one search term and/or field. E.G. by keyword or even by name].

My top priority is to be able to comment on someone's comment, instead of having to PM each person individually to thank them for commenting or to respond in some other way to their comment.

Each individual comment would be its own thread, and a person would be notified when someone has commented on their comment.

If you copy this link into your browser, you will see what I am talking about:

EVERYONE should be able to at least see the list of nominated poems even if they can't participate in the nominating. I've never understood why the list has to be so secret.

  • Larry Chamberlin

    Who cannot see the nominations?

  • Anna Stephens

I can't see them since I became a non-senior member so I presume the list can't be seen by anyone except senior members.

Very true, I did not know that the contest nominations existed for almost 4-5 months, until I became senior. None of the newbies are able to see them unless someone provides them this URL:
    http://www.poems-and-quotes.com/contest_poems.html

Kiko's idea is also great, but I have seen people use the same comment button on the poem to answer/respond or appreciate or explain your own poem right below the visitor's comment. Seems to serve the same pupose without the fancy color scheme of the other website, which may or may not be challenging for Janis to incorporate.

Do the rules & guidelines tab which shows the older version of the rules need to be updated with this one? from link posted in another thread?

    http://www.poems-and-quotes.com/discussion/topic.html?topic_id=130009

I would like to suggest that one should have a button on the right panel for "your comments" to look at all the comments you have ever made on anyone's poems, not just praised one's...so one can go back find the poem and the comment made easily to edit/revise/add. Similar to the "correspondence button.

Good ideas folks. I like the ideas that everyone should see the nomination's, an advanced search, and an "all comments" link. I think K's idea is that when you have multiple comments you could append your own response to a specific comment. The color scheme is irrelevant. That's a good idea, too.

Re security, I have a few ideas on that score. Joe, can you elaborate on specifics, please. Certainly we would like better control on plagiarists if you have ideas on that topic.

And spammers! I thought it would be better with the addition of a captcha, but I have to say, I haven't seen much of a difference. It would be neat if the site could detect whether a person was sending the exact same PM to, say, more than 20 people, and would put a freeze on their account until we checked into it.

I've also asked for a more advanced search. That's when we got the "correspondence" link. Janis has said that something more advanced was too complicated for the time being, but we will continue to push for it! I think it's kind of a priority.

I'm about to leave for work right now, so when I get home, I'll write something up more specific for you (Larry) and the rest.
