That was a lot to read through.

Mods having the ability to send mass PMs is a great idea, something I think would be worthwhile implementing. It is strange that we don't have such ability as of yet but I think we should bring it up to Janis.

As for Spammers, I too was under the impression that it was a bot/computer programmed to send multiple messages to different users.

OK, I'm afraid disclosure is needed. I now realize the Micks have taken over the site. Jane & Sibs outed themselves, my turn now. My mother came over from Ireland when she was sixteen. Until I left for college I never realized that guilt & Catholic were not synonymous.

You guys should lighten out a bit, If you really want to be able to nominate a poem, and you still can't, Just comment on some poetry for a while, 10 is still a relatively very low number, a couple of hours @ most, and 2 days if you're slacking

  • Melpomene

Robert, I do wish you'd stay on the site. I've watched you on the main boards for years and your opinion has always been valued.

My mother is Roman Catholic. Mother, catholic and guilt all go hand in hand.

    Carla Turk is Dominican (Scrubs)

  • Nevi

Haha. I love how this became a total culture fest.

As for the upping of praised comments, I wasn't a fan of the idea. But I don't think ten is really asking for too much, to be honest. I don't comment as frequently as I probably should, and that's okay with me. I lived four years without senior status, and I'm sure I can live without it now. I came here to read poetry, not argue over votes.

As for the familial lines. I got a pretty boring set of things going on. My mother is black with a little native american thrown in there. and my dad comes from an english and german background. My last name being "Silvers" from the german "Silverstein".

    booorrring.

  • Blissful

Karla, you could have taken that time you were complainig and rather left some praise worthy comments on poems.

  • abracadabra

I wonder what makes certain ethinicities more boring than others.

    I'm guessing accents.

10 praised comments is fine as a compromise. I hope it's the ONLY way to reach nominator status. (I'm glad the misleading 'senior' status is out of the picture.) The raised comments won't make much difference to the number or quality of nominations in the long run, but that's fine. Give judges a shortlisting tool and they can personally modify the list as it forms.

Also, when you leave the site, you forfeit everything. Your awards, your poems, your status. It's a decision you made. I don't think anyone here has any obligation to somehow preserve your previous status in limbo mode, unless you choose to leave in a limbo mode (keep your profile). So if you leave, that's it. If you come back, it is to a blank slate except people might still remember you. You can still do anything here that anyone else can.

All you have to do is write 10 good comments and get over yourself.

  • Nevi

Haha. Abby, accents are definitely fun. I think it's probably just how we think that other people's backgrounds are more exotic. It's that foreign appeal

  • abracadabra

Ha. Well. I don't think of any backgrounds as particularly exotic, but I understand I'm in the minority there.

Tell me you're from Europa and things might change.
