Except nobody thinks Americans are exotic. Curse you, globalized pop culture!

For reals. Being American is so unexciting

Personally, I think even 10 praised comments are not near enough, though good for a start. Being a nominator, or having the ability to nominate, does not affect your ability to read, write, comment, vote or enjoy poetry - it just gives you the privilege of nominating (and by that the ability to engage in one of the process of the weekly contest), it is not by any means a ''right''.

I don't think the decision was unfair by any means. what I think would have been unfair is having it apply to some (newbies) and not others or voting with approval thinking it's OK since it wouldn't affect you. That's unfair. I don't also think that a member should be weighted with the time he/she spends here but rather the amount and quality of their participation. Some people have in a very short time left more impression than others did in years combined.

I do have a suggestion though that perhaps would be some a sort of middle ground. Why not let members who aren't seniors have a ''suggest for nomination'' button that is just like the nomination button for seniors, but in their case poems wouldn't go to the nomination list directly, instead the poem will show on the news feed of senior members where they can decline (remove from their news feed) or nominate.

    Edit:
I need from those of you that are with lots of guilt on their hands to lend me some. It would do my character good.

Haha, feel free to take some of mine! A little more balance would be pleasant.

I think your suggestion is really interesting... It would take some coding and organizing, but that's logistical stuff. I haven't thought about it too deeply yet, but something like that could be a nice way of involving all the active and eager new members. Even if there was a dedicated thread for it or something, that might have a similar effect.

Deal. I'll send you my address then.

We've had a thread before, I think Larry had it posted. It was another of my failed suggestions, it didn't get much participation if any when it came to nominating the poems suggested or even checking them. So, I thought perhaps if things were more direct and under one's nose, like having to press directly to go to a poem that is already on your news feed (than to go to a thread, shift through the links and whatnot) it will be more efficient. But, yeah, we could try having a thread again if it's the only way.

I like the idea of having a separate suggestions page or list. Sometimes I don't know who or what to.nominate because I on my own couldn't find gems, but that doesn't mean other people don't. Just means I'm not looking in the right spot

    Humanity

    High status means nothing
    when Falcons strike lofty Pigeions.
    Were all food for gain.

Being all liars, cheaters, thieves and beggars,
wanton, lustful, ungrateful creatures we are
all other Entity's, of humanity's making,
when deciding. We all are biased!
    our making

    Good to see you, Nor!

^Interesting idea. It would be helpful for those senior members who don't have as much time as they like to dig through all the poems and pull out some treasures and it'd also allow members without nominator status to have a voice. You're right, we did have a thread like this in the past and it didn't get much activity and eventually became forgotten.

My only concern would be if every member (that hadn't gained nominator status) had this feature would the feed (if the poems were to appear here) become so clogged that you'd have to dig the same way you would when hunting for poems through the genre lists, again that would be my concern if we were to have a separate page or list as Britt suggested.

The only thing I can think of to stop feeds/pages becoming filled with thousands of poems would be to have a certain amount of times the member can "suggest for nomination" and only allowing the poem to be suggested for nomination once.

So the issue suddenly turned to religion:I am Wiccan and I am proud of it.

I am going to ask again:
why did I lose my senior membership IF WHEN I GOT IT THE RULES WERE OTHERS? WHY? IT IS NOT FAIR. I AM NOT QUESTIONING THE NUMBERS OF PRAISED COMMENTS WHICH IN MY OPNION WON'T CHANGE THE QUALITY OF THE NOMINATIONS. AS I STATED BEFORE SOME GOOD POEMS HERE ARE INVISIBLE BECAUSE PEOPLE TEND TO READ THOSE THEY LIKE OR WHO COMMENTED THEM AND YOU ALL KNOW THAT.BESIDES THE SAME OLD PEOPLE WILL BE THE NOMINATORS. WHAT I REALLY WANT TO KNOW IS WHY DO I HAVE TO BE AFFECTED BY THE NEW RULE IF WHEN I GOT MY NOMINATOR STATUS THE RULES WERE OTHERS? CAN ANYBODY EXPLAIN WHY?
And yes Yaki, some clubs are on the spolight all the time. Be honest in your judgement. Some people are invisible here.
AND ABOVE ALL THIS SITE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A FELLOWSHIP OF POETS AND WE KEEP ARGUING ALL THE TIME AND PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS DELETING THEIR ACcOUNTS BECAUSE WHEN THEY COME TO THE MAIN BOARDS TO COMPLAIN, YOU ALL GET TOGETHER TO KICK THE POET OUT OF THIS SITE.
What is the aim of poetry? Do we all have to write in-depth poetry all the time?Because thats going to be the sine qua non condition to have an in-depth comment. Do all of the poems are so deep? So many people post their poems in the Miscellanous thread but the person is talking about love. Do you really think that praised comments will change the merit of a poem. Some good poems here are never read. Besides you are acting like you belong to a literary canon what is deplorable in my opnion because we are in the same boat here.

Karla...why are you so angry over something that is basically irrelevant? To be a senoir member or a nominator now just means you can nominate three poems in any one week. If you look at the nominators you will find two categories (and I've mentioned this before) you have the ones who use their 3 nominations in day one and then you have those who space them out hoping to find a gem...and I've noticed you have those who...have the means to nominated but very seldom use it..so..

what have you really lost here when you look at it?

  • Karla

It is irrelevant for those who weren't affected. I never waste my vote if that is what you mean.

  • Karla

It is a pity you can't understand me. I am questioning the usage of the new rule. When I got my senior membership, there was another rule so I shouldn't be affected.

  • Karla

I have noticed you very seldom use yours too Helon.Besides who are you to say that the poems I have nominated aren't good?Because I have noticed you only chose your good friends.

  • Hellon

No..that's not what I meant at all...I still have the means to nominated but...yes I will dob myself in here..I haven't this week..so far. Normally I will nominate at least two peoms but...many member who can don't...that's what I meant.

I don't have any problem with you. My problem is the new rule. My problem isWHY DO I HAVE TO BE AFFECTED BY THE NEW RULE IF WHEN I GOT MY NOMINATOR STATUS THE RULES WHERE OTHERS:ONLY 3 PRAISED COMMENTS?

  • Yakari Gabriel

What? No. you're blowing things way out of proportion miss.

I'm just saying,I look at the nomination page often
and whenever I see a poem by someone who doesn't have awards,I check out who it was who nominated it..
and Hellon is one of those who often do so..
