How can I know that somebody is commenting my poem to be a nominator? Have you thought about that? The risks involved. Anybody can be a nominator faster now.

I am speaking on my behalf.If the others are comfortable with the new decision is not of my concern.

But I mean those who use their nominations each week. LOTS of people dont even nominate anyway

So it is what you all do when somebody comes here to complain: leave the site. What about being fair for just once. Have you thought about how many people are not satisfied? They don't come here because they are afraid of exposing themselves. People complain behind the curtains all the time.

Karla the mods have already said they cant find a way to differentiate between old members who have new accounts and new members, the rules apply to everybody. Isnt it great that we are able to change things now after years of stagnation, and that we are able to vote on these things?

Poetry isnt a science but writing praiseworthy comments is the best and only measureable way for somebody to show they have a level of knowledge required to nominate poems. The quality of somebodies poems has nothing to do with it. If people are knowledgeable in any way about poetry it wont be hard to write ten praiseworthy comments.

Regarding people behind the scenes who are frustrated. The forum is here for everybody to use in the last few months there have been some good discussions on it. If people dont take part in them or in votes and then complain afterwords about fairness etc, I dont see that as very constructive. The idea of mods being able to send out mass pms could be looked into it sounds like a good idea.

This issue has gotten out of hand, 250+ posts, people are angry but I dont think this bickering is getting anywhere.

I am giving crap every single day of my life for being a latina, and labeled as one of the people
who came here and "destroyed" the Arubian culture just for being a Latina..Latino's are not wanted here,
we are discriminated and accused of all the wrong that goes on, on this little island..

I have another questions: what do you really want: good poetry or in-depth comments? Because one is independent from the other.

Pre-nominators are still provided with the means to earn the nomination tool, only the first method has been affected:
-writing at least 10 insightful or constructive comments that are praised,
- being chosen as favorite by at least 20 people and having at least ten poems,
- writing 100 poems while maintaining at least a 4.2 rating.

In colleges, once you enter you have the option to graduate under the catalog in effect when you entered. In many situations the existing status of a person is grandfathered in. I wholly understand your problem, Karla. In the US, the constitution prohibits the States & the Federal government from creating any post hoc penal statutes (laws that retroactively criminalize acts). On the other hand, post hoc civil action is taken all the time, especially in the area of taxation. The problem here is that there is no way to apply this new rule selectively.

I sympathize with you, Karla, but this is the way it is. Yes, I know you voted no, but that does not change how the rule is implemented.

I hope you continue here, because I disagree with you: this IS a fellowship of poets, member directed, inclusive and progressive.

Yes, there is favoritism, there are clicks, Clubs tend to focus their members on each other's poems, new members are often overlooked, silent members are often overlooked. With over 5,000 members, less than a half percent contribute to the forum. All these problems abound.

On the other hand, let those who practice favoritism do so, let the clicks isolate their members, let the clubs focus on their own members. Freedom means letting people make choices we do not agree with, within the rules. There are enough people like you who do look at new members, who find the hidden gems to bring them to light.

Please do take part as an equal, use your talent to comment on these rare gems & bring them to light.

Let's look at it this way. A while ago, mods made the rule that all profile pictures had to be appropriate for all ages, because they could be easily viewed by all ages. Would it have been fair for those mods to only apply the rule to new members, but allow older ones to have drug references and nudity in their pictures? It wasn't a rule when the old members joined, so they shouldn't be restricted by it, right?

Noooope. Rules change often, and they are meant to be applied equally to all members. If there was a way to keep profile information when people delete their accounts, that would be another story, but we haven't found a way to do that.

I'll say again, nobody needs to change their reading and commenting habits. If you got 5 comments praised with the desire to be a senior member, you can do five more with that same goal. If you got 5 comments praised without ever even thinking about being a senior member, then you definitely still don't have to change what you do.

Comment what you want to comment, and nothing else. Don't even worry about making every single comment deep or in-depth... other people will worry about that.

This is not a fellowship of poets. I came here to complain I was called silly and told to leave the site many times. I retributed the insults. Is it inclusive?No it isnt. If I say: yes mam you are right. It is inclusive.If I disagree i am insulted. First poetry is not supposed to be written for contests. Thats not the aim.But I am not judging this fact. If you think praised comments will change anything, you all are wrong. Those who reached nominator status won't move.Besides poetry is not about comments.I won't write any comment anymore from now on.Poetry is not a game: write a comment and get a prize. And yes, I will stay here to bother all the time.It is going to be my pleasure.

It is easy to get more 5 praised comments but I will never do it because it is against what I believe. You guys don't really love Poetry. You are disrespecting what Poetry is and I am sorry for you all.

The requirement to have praised comments was already there. Any argument you have against it does not target the change that we made.

I am glad you will continue, although I do not see you as a bother. You can be my gadfly to slap down my errors anytime - God knows I need that.

As for the insults and caps-lock stuff, put it behind us. Families squabble, and the mere fact that you are passionate enough to speak up is the best thing this site should be appreciated for: "Be ye hot or be ye cold, but the lukewarm He shall spew out of His mouth."
