Thats the point I am here: 3 praised comments was the old rule. I have 5. So why am I supposed to be affected by the new rule?

I could see someone being a purist, who believes that no poetry ought to be judged or ranked.... but then they would just stay away from the contest altogether.

Karla, it seems like you still want to be involved in the contest process, so I guess that's where my confusion is. Do you think that we have the right to judge and give points to poetry, but you're taking issue with slightly raising one of the possible qualifications for nominating poems to that contest? Help me out here. I'm just honestly confused about how requiring more praised comments on one of the ways to be a senior member causes harm to poetry, when it's really just a slight extension of what we've always done, and (in my mind) minor compared to the fact that we're literally judging poems every week.

But it's not a right. You have the right to earn senior member status, yes, but not to automatically have it.

Now, in order to earn it, members have to have 10 praises instead of 3, OR have 100 poems, OR have 20 or so people have you on their faves list.

There is literally no known physical way that we could apply this only to new members.

All I want is my status back.

And you have the right and ability to get it back, but we can't just give it to you. Not "we won't give it to you," it's just not in our power.

You have to sigh a lot bcause as far as I can see you haven't understood my point. If you think praised comments will change anything...you're gonna sit and wait for Godot. I want my status back.I have been here since 2009.Deleted my account for personal problems and came back in a few weeks later. So suddenly because of a new rule I lose my status. It is a disrespect.

Karla is angry and hurt, so I don't see why those who do not have answers to her questions and queries, keep on replying her with irony that's only making the situation here more dramatic, if not worse. Ofcourse none of my business, but it's not positive to be ironic with someone who's defending their right! Even if you consider it as silly..or not necessary, why don't those who think her posts are out of topic, reply to the "main" topic, rather than pushing her further!

And no, I ain't taking sides, just observing how contradicting some opinions are, when compared with their reactions.

If I were affected, the way you have been, I know I would have had some fire stirring inside of me, knowing that I woke up to a change, that shouldn't have affected me.

VERY true, I agree, tottaly, maybe I can't feel the exact way, but I really do understand and agree with you. Problem is, we are talking here about a computer system, we invent it...in other words, the system cannot recognize new and old members, so it doesn't have the needed intelligence to eliminate old members from the new change...and hence it swept off with it all those who do not have the "new" needed number of praised comments to be senior.
Not developed that much to be able to do so, else Janis would have found a way to do it, although it would be a huge mess, since there are many old members, though we did not hear from them.

So the only solution left here, is to adapt with this change, it may not make a difference as you said, but it also might...As larry said, there are many who play favoritism over here, but there are also some who don't..you ? for example!

Everyone is responsible mostly toward his own conscious, and I know you are a decent woman who would speak her mind as long as she holds a truth, and I honestly respect what your trying to stand for, and I know new rules affecting those who accept to join this website regarding older rules wouldn't appreciate being affect by it..a deal is a deal. BUT it's really out of control, and this new change is essential for future references...

I sent Janis a pm, asking if some older senior members could be eliminated from the new applied rules, if not, then I believe once you re-think of all this, you'd accept this change, then adapt with it, because we need you like we need others around here. I know you won't stay here to bother all the time, it's your anger speaking, you are a teacher and I am sure your ethics won't allow you. Maybe some posts drove you to say some things but please reconsider everything ..especially that has been said by Larry.

Sometimes if we can't control the things we dislike and the change that occurs in our life...we have nothing else to do but to move on with it. And that, doesn't mean to leave it behind..but we have to do what we have to do.

If everything does go crazy, or if nothing seems to happen, I would bet that we'd either revoke the idea or boost the number higher. This is mostly going to be just a trial run. We're pretty open to seeing if we can change it again, but let's give it a few months to see if we can spot any changes before we make a decision on it.

Just so you know Karla, there are five judges for the weekly contest.... Not three.

I know Karla is right... so 100% right... and I'm talking here from the eye of a neutral spectator.

NOT from the eye of one united club that stands up with each other and tries to annoy others with their silliness and dumbness,,,, and they are the ones that are 'bitching' around....

I said before I wanted 15 praised comments, and I'm still clutching at that,,,, so if I don't like what Karla wants then why should I set fire to the fire?

One thing I should add here, there are many comments that go un-praised knowing they are 100% praiseworthy, and this is a big problem... yeah, if he/she is not in your club you look away.

and i know... Karla... there are various members that lost their seniority (well, let's just say 'nominator power'), and they are fine with commenting again to reach the 10.
