    ROUND TWO:

Remember RULE NUMBER ONE: Do not advertise you are in the contest!
Rule number two: Do not post your poems to your account until the contest is over.

Send entries to me, Larry, by PM not later than Tuesday 7 February 11:59 pm (23:59) PnQ time.

Form Selections: - Cascade; - Limerick; - Nove Otto; - Triolet

Choose any one of these four forms and write a poem. There is still no restriction as to subject or style; that is, it can be about anything & can be serious, humourous, philosophical or whatever. I have given two examples by PnQ members for each form. These are only examples of the form and are not meant to suggest any subject or style. Good Luck & HAVE FUN!

    Cascade:
    See: [http://www.poems-and-quotes.com/sad/poems.php?id=1163079]
    And See: [http://www.poems-and-quotes.com/nature/poems.php?id=1147135]
Cascade, a form created by Udit Bhatia, is all about receptiveness, but in a smooth cascading way like a waterfall. The poem does not have any rhyme scheme; therefore, the layout is simple. Say the first verse has three lines. Line one of verse one becomes the last line of verse two. To follow in suit, the second line of verse one becomes the last line of verse three. The third line of verse one now becomes the last line of verse four, the last stanza of the poem. See the structure example below:
    a/b/c, d/e/A, f/g/B, h/i/C
To make the Cascade an even longer poem, use more lines in verse one. For example, if verse one has 6 lines, the poem must have seven stanzas so that each line of verse one is reused as a refrain in each following stanza (a cascading effect).

    Limerick:
    See: [http://www.poems-and-quotes.com/funny/poems.php?id=1182605]
    And See: [http://www.poems-and-quotes.com/funny/poems.php?id=1171205]
Usually humorous or silly poem of five lines, with rhyme scheme a-a-b-b-a

    Nove Otto:
    See: [http://www.best-love-poems.com/poems.php?id=1151050]
    And See: [http://www.best-love-poems.com/poems.php?id=1118754]
The Nove Otto poetry form was created by Scott J. Alcorn. It is a nine-lined poem with 8 syllables per line (isosyllabic*). The rhyme scheme is as follows: aacbbcddc.
EDIT: [*isosyllabic: a verse in which each line has a fixed number of syllables]

    Triolet:
    See: [http://www.poems-and-quotes.com/misc/poems.php?id=1127263]
    And See: [http://www.poems-and-quotes.com/life/poems.php?id=1170404]
A Triolet is a poetic form consisting of only 8 lines. Within a Triolet, the 1st, 4th, and 7th lines repeat, and the 2nd and 8th lines do as well. The rhyme scheme is simple: ABaAabAB, capital letters representing the repeated lines.

I have four poems in already & I'm hitting the sack.

For those of you who cannot make up your mind, repeating this advice I gave one contestant:

write one of each & turn in the best.

    GOODNIGHT Hellon wherever you are!

Thats seriously great advice Larry because I think a lot of people haven't heard of these forms before and how do you know which one to pick unless you try them all?

    Good luck people!
