It's been a long time! I have a tendency to be lax and sort of let things fall apart, so that's what happened. Here's the deal: I'm gonna start posting words again, but it's not going to be daily (maybe a couple of times a week) and as such I will have to rename it.

Also, if anyone has any suggestions for words, you're more than welcome to PM them to me and I promise they'll be put up within a reasonable amount of time.

    Cool? Cool.

So yes! Here's a word for all
    my word loving internet pals:

    Prosody
    -noun

    Pronunciation:
    PROS-uh-dee

    Definition:
    1. the science or study of poetic meters and versification.

    2. a particular or distinctive system of metrics and versification: Milton's prosody.

    3. Linguistics . the stress and intonation patterns of an utterance.

    Etymology:
mid-15c., from L. prosodia, from Gk. prosoidia "song sung to music," also "accent, modulation," from pros "to" + oide "song, poem" (see ode).

    Quote with the word:
"Today we were studying prosody in class. Linguists use poetic terms like 'trochee', 'iamb', and 'feet' to describe stress patterns in words. It brought me closer to poetry in a way."
