His version which he says at the end that this poem was sent to him by a fan. Do we have more than one plagiarist working in this small network?

I just wonder while everyone watches the deeds of plunder of a master heistman with amazement, and complacency, and the google blogsite does nothing, what about contacting the people he has approved to post to his blogsite, letting them know of his doings and letting them follow up with another comment that the poems that they praised are stolen. Is that possible, since they have been approved by him?

  • Tara Kay

^^This wouldnt work, as he has to approve each individual post...therefore, a comment like that he wouldnt accept

  • Decayed

I think Tara, what David meant is to contact his friends on the blog, like that lady who commented on my poem he stole

but we could try to contact them.. is there an email for the comments, I don't think...

Hey all - he just posted a poem around 45 mins ago and it was not from this site by the looks of it

    http://gooftastic.blogspot.com.au/#!/2012/03/some-evergreen-cliches.html

    http://allpoetry.com/column/7517829-Some_Evergreen_Cliches_-by-The_Phoenix_Returns

He even copied the part where the person wrote "I just wrote these four lines..."

    OMG Guys check this out!!!

We're not the only ones he is stealing from. By the looks of things he's making money out of it???

    Check out this blog...

    and another one...

for an easier read... search for "gooftastic" and items will come up.

He is being smart A@# about it as well - saying to leave a comment on his blogspot when he already knows that you can't leave a comment unless he approves it.

People like him make my skin crawl...
I know we all post with the risk of plagarism, but he is going far and beyond to make it look like his own work...

That is the most redicolous thing I've ever read by a person such as him:

We shouldn't have to stop posting our poems because of the chance that they going to be taken from us like that - We have the right to fight for our work. I think the mods on this site are doing an awesome job but the ones on Bloggers - I really hope they do something about this idiot

  • Lioness

Did you see the links? Crazy

  • A lonely soul

Here is a link for action, if the mods want to do it. There is apparently an internet crime reporting center (should only to be used when the ISP or website is not heeding the complaint) to the govt.

    http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

The mods of this website could also be pro-active and report "intellectual property thefts" by a serial master heistman/conartist (killer in gentle poetic words) and hope that this division of the FBI looks into it and alerts the people concerned (website or the governments). It may very well be worth a try.

  • Xionide

Well, I'm not posting anymore poems until this blows over or gets sorted out, he already has enough of my work. it goes for everyone he's stolen from, your on his "visit" list now.

  • Lioness

I just hope that google does something about it on his blogspot.

It would be nice to let his "followers" know though

  • Daisy if you do

    Okay I finally understand it....

He is making money because when visit his blog and make a scene out of it for every hit he gets he is making money. So in essence he is making money off of the very people he is stealing work from. What a sorry sack of scrap crap. Sorry I retract my thoughts that this is bullying. This creep is taunting folks to do something about it. He is definitely not some meek little child and he definitely is an ass.

  • Lioness

What I hate about that blog thing is when you look at when he posts poems it doesn't say a specific time and date - it just says 20 ours ago or 20 days ago...

    That's seriously crazy

  • Daisy if you do

Yeah and isn't it ironic that when you Google the name Gooftastic it tries to autocorrect it and say Egotastic. Which is exactly what he is.

  • sibyllene

In light of his ad profits, my suggestion would be for everyone to stop going to his page, except for maybe mods, or some member in charge of bringing this against him.

No, we're not going to report him to the FBI - I think they have more pressing issues. What we are trying first is going through the official channels, by contacting the blog site. Since they are a site centering around writing, I expect they would take plagiarism seriously.

I definitely understand the frustration, but we need to be professional about this. What people want to do about this on their time isn't up to me, but as a site, I think we need to rise above this guy and make sure we're not stooping to his level. Let's wait and see if we hear anything. If we don't, we'll consider the next step.

  • Lioness

I think that's a smart idea. I just hope that Google does something about it soon.

The ONLY way the idea of staying off of his blog will work is if the moderators on this site keep the members totally informed re: what they are doing and what is working.

    FAT CHANCE, SAILOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey,

The mods have been letting us know what they've been doing.

Sibs let us know when she received a reply from Google - it is up to them now.

    Sibs/Mods/anyone:

^In light of his ad profits....

Are you saying that he personally is making profit out of the number of hits on his blog? Clarify please, as I am not familiar with this.
If he is, I hope everyone gets his crooked scheme:

He is not out there to just plagiarize ....in fact may have no real interest in it. So, maybe then his real purpose is to purposely and visibly plagiarize a website with a large following to attract attention back to his blog/ad ? to make money. Did he not actually announce it to Larry himself of what he is upto a few weeks ago when the intial alert of club infiltration came out?

He is then a scam artist, certified....and perhaps such cybercrimes are reportable only to the FBI. The sooner you do, the less money he makes before the websites shut him out. Indeed devious the way he deviced his scam.... almost like a pyramid scheme. I am amazed as this unwinds further. Good Luck in shutting him down.

Edit: Thanks for the clarification Sibs (see below).

I found a page where you can report copyright infringement (on Blogger) to Google. It might work best if each person who had poems stolen wanted to fill out a form for themselves. It looks... legally significant, so don't fill out anything if you don't feel comfortable doing so. The link is below, so check it out for yourself and see what you think. Maybe our legal counsel, aka Larry, would have some advice ; )

    http://support.google.com/bin/request.py?&product=blogger&contact_type=lr_dmca

I haven't heard anything else from Blogger. If I don't hear back from them tomorrow, I'll send a follow-up message.

David - many sites (including this one) are set up to receive money per hits. They sell ad space, and it's the advertisers who pay them. Most sites, you have to actually click on the ad for the person to get paid, others might count for every page view. I think most also have to be unique visitors, so we might not be doing much damage. Last I saw, our guy's page only had like 150 views, so he probably made like 50 cents, over the past view months, if anything at all.

  • Lioness

    Thanks heaps for that!

I did that yesterday actually and I am waiting for a reply...

I have filled that form out before.

I guess they must be having more than usual number of people complaining!

I notified that YouSayToo website about Gooftastic and gave them a lot of examples of the poems that he ripped off (I think this is the site he was making the money from)

This is the reply I received from them last night

    "Hello Elizabeth,

Thank you for the links to the infringing and original content. It light of such widespread infringement we've decided to close the user's account. All content what the user published has been removed.

    Best regards,
    YouSayToo team"

Now all we need to do is wait for Google to do something. I filled out a form on google's website about the issue with my poems and I know the mods have issued one for the whole group and I believe that James and Andrea did. I did this on Monday and it's now Thursday. I haven't received a reply from them which is unusual considering they don't normally take this long. Did you guys hear anything back?

Anyways it's a start. At least the site where he's making the money from has cancelled his Account.

I haven't heard anything else, either. Maybe another message is in order. I doubt the site has moderators like we're accustomed to, as in... people who are actually there a lot and would respond with a personal message. It might be too big for that. We could have just gotten a form letter. But maybe if enough complaints get filed, it would light a fire under someone. I don't know! But thanks for the help on all of this, guys.

  • Lioness

Well I think another one may be in order as well, unless there's a huge back log because people are complaining. I've noticed the comments left on the poems on his blog and it's so funny that they are saying awesome, awesome and he is not even saying anything about the poems not being his. At least the other account has been closed so I don't think he is making the money anymore.

  • Tara Kay

    That's a start I guess Liz.

I filled in a form to google too but didnt recieve any replies...

the comments seem to have been removed from the poems...

This is something I found on another website which may explain why it is taking time to resolve the complaints.

"The DMCA complaint can take up to 2 or 3 weeks to be processed by Google, so be patient."
