What do you mean? Your parents don't decide your curfew? There is a LAW about it?

yer here in Uk some area have curfew like in Camdon its under 16s arnt alowed to be out (unless accompanied by an adult, parent) before 10pm and at Cumbria Town its before 9pm. And i think in the west end too..any one out after these times could be given a criminal record.

its part of the governments anit-social behaviour act. Cutting down on juvenile crime, minor offences and protecting them from other crimes or being victims etc.

in my town our curfew is 10 on week nights and 12 on weekends. ppl break it, but a lot of them also get arrested for it too.

I don't think the government should control people's lives like that.

WOW I can't believe they've really instated discriminative curfews in the states!
Im from Australia and luckily we don't have such "curfews" at home. I think is sad, I also think its discriminative because I know that personally, at age 15 I was living out of home in my own apartment studying full time, working and afternoon and night shift job to just to support myself. Just thinking if a curfew was instated here those many years ago for me, I couldn't have survived finicially and who is anybody to take away my right to earn a living and survive based on my age. Just curious cause I really don't know the specifics...if that was me and they had the curfews like where you guys live then would there be an allowance for someone in my situation?

    wow...so many views! lol
"Once again we see the Government treat the symptoms rather than the illness…rather than confining under sixteen’s to their homes to prevent crime, why not find out why so many youths are causing crimes"

yep i've gota say thats a good point, n i do agree on that.

it is a waste of money... i suppose.. but it could help on certain matter, for example instead of just arresting men who commit rape (which takes ages to investigate) why not protect the helpless victims too? preventing them from being out late reduces their chances of something horrible happening to them. i mean arnt most horrid cimes usually during night?

It could also help decrease the number of kids involving in crimes such as drugs or pimps. so anyone out at that time would be suspected and therefore, matters would be looked into before arrest. It would also make it clearer and easier to investigate why these kids are staying out so late, and therefore give any support or help if needed.

besides i dont see any logical reasons to why any kid should be out after 9/10pm? Most dont even work, they just hang around in big gangs causing nuisance.

I think it should be enforced with batons, riot shields and tear gas.

"anyone under 16 should be in the West End of London unaccompanied after 9pm does not seem a good idea," he said. "I don't think any responsible parent would like their 15-year-old wandering about at night."

Sir Ian said residents welcomed the plan. One elderly man in Camden said he had been able to sleep properly for the first time in 10 years.

lol that was in the gaurdian
