New Janis Updates

Yup! It seems that Janis does not like IE 8 anymore! His new feature that he introduced 2 days ago will work in Google chrome, and I bet in IE 9 and perhaps in safari and other browsers...will check it out. If true, he should put a warning on the front page that this site requires IE 9, etc for full functionality, or make his new changes compatible with IE8.

Nothing to do with operating system it seems...I have win XP and 7, as well as ipad (OS6).

So, it seems Janis decided not to support older versions of IE (inadvertently) or maybe he wants some of us not to be able to answer :\wink (selective blocking...haha....wonder how Hellon, my dear friend is doing on this?)

Yes, apparently it does not work for older IE versions.
I'm sure he wouldn't have done it except by omission. Some coding that IE8 needs isn't there, most likely.

    He has been notified.

Here is a conspiracy theory Larry (have a good laugh at it) :)

IE 9 does not work with win XP, but only Vista & Win 7. Microsoft "purposely" decided not to extend the compatibility of IE 9 to Win XP , in the hope that subscribers who are hooked on to IE will be forced to upgrade their Win XP computers to Win 7 when the new coding changes require the upgrades. But, in the process of building upon their monopoly (Bill Gates style...who figured out how to bypass the anti-trust laws for his products and make other software companies sell their products virtually for free, ruling the World with Windows products until recently!) they overlooked Google and Apple...2 companies who now are beating it at its own game....so now we have smart users switching to smarter products (google chrome, iphone/ipad browsers), when they see this old style of doing business.

I have utmost respect for Bill Gates now, for his philanthropy (he has committed 95% of their wealth to charity...a big thing for the 2nd wealthiest man in the world), but those days, he was no different than what Apple is today....monopolizing on its product.

That's no conspiracy theory. It's pure robber Barron capitalist beaten by upcoming entrepreneurs.

I too am having the same problem so it was suggested to me that I download google chrome which I've now done. At the moment I have a little welcome page which asks me for my email address and password. When I type in the password it comes up as invalid. I'm totally lost now and need some major help....anyone???

It appears that Janis forgot to put IE codings in the reply button altogether, as you are unable to use messages even using your IE9 browser...I have not tested it yet...but until then just use Google. I just pm'd you.

I've answered you back LS but....can we talk here...it's so much easier that constantly having to click on your profile to reply by pm?

Suggest you ignore the initial set up asking you to sign in to your Google account to personalize your browser, as you may not have a google account.

Then use this training manual for the chrome browser as it is different than IE:

    http://www.trainingcourseonline.net/chrome/index/

Got to run home. Will check back later. Good Luck.

No...I don't have a google account and I don't really want one either haha!!!!

I have tried the skip option on this welcome page and it takes me to a page with 5 symbols...Google web store...google Drive...some other stuff but it also says.... not signed in to chrome so you miss out....sign in now!

Geez.....I'm over it all for now...my head's thumping haha!!!!

Everything you need to know is in the training manual link, but I have also sent you easy to understand instructions by pm.

    -------------------------------------
Late addendum: Just noticed that this "pm block" is indeed selective...I was unable to pm 2 members (Hellon included) the same old IE8 or even Google chrome in Win XP, but had no problem replying to a mod, a moment later on the same sign in using IE8 ...ahhhm. Also, the same weird stuff even in Chrome of my XP computer...a pm will go one moment and not go another time a few secs later when using the new reply button.

Now, Janis has me thinking.....he seems to have a new power tool to disable conspiracies to be hatched. He is messing with me, this time (grrrrrrr...) haha!

There's no catch in having a Google account & it opens up the ability to store shortcuts. I have mine set to a high privacy level.

I know Janis hasn't been signed in since he 'messed around'with the pm system but....guess what? Mines is working! I'm still using Windows 7 and IE so.....is there an explanation for this or....is it magic haha!!!

Wonder if the other members who were affected have had the magic wand waved in their direction???

Thanks to LS and Larry for talking me through downloading chrome which....as you both know I decided to dumb.
