    Things I do not have
    By Silvershoes

What I must say here is that the wording was so perfectly done that even I who knows perfection doesn't exist finds myself unable to find a fault with the piece. Its flow was smooth and transitional, it was original and unique and the wording subtly romantic, calm and breathed love in each stanza.

    ----

Simply beautiful, very melancholic, descriptive and a well balanced verse. One stanza stood out n particular, for its beauty:

    The bridge over the river basks;
    wild flowers bloom,
    kissing blue still waters
    and dragonflies are stirring
    against cool wet grass;
    new dandelions aplenty,
but we dare not blow them,
for wishes are for fools in love.

I got a strong sense of resignation and sadness as I read and reread the poem. One needs to read this a couple of time to truly feel the author. A wonderful tribute to a love lost.

    ----

One of my favorite aspects of Janes poetry is the way she gets into the nitty gritty details as though she is rolling up her sleeves to paint the most beautiful picture her mind possibly can. Her words flow out in love so easily with such beauty, it's hard to put to words how the poems make me feel. I get so lost in the imagery and descriptive nature that I often feel as though I'm right there with her. The message behind it makes me feel 2 things - those who refuse to have a commitment and just bask in the love of one another, and those who tip toe in an affair - while their love and promise is to another, the passion is elsewhere. The poem is too beautiful to make me feel like it's about a sex fling, there is so much more. Beautiful words

The message in this poem is one I love: to not bow down to mediocrity, but instead use the ones who dare to stand tall and proud as a role model. Although this poem was rather lengthy, it was superb in its analysis and well thought out and a joy to read from start to finish. The reference to 9/11 was confronting and no doubt meant to hold a mirror in front of us, readers. A winner in my book!

    Tie Breaker's Comment:

This poem embodies the progressive energy that gave rise to modern skyscrapers both in the early and later parts of the 20th century. It could have been written by the builders, incorporating their aspirations, or the tenants, reflecting the pride of position. However, it shifts mid-way to expose the areas of difficulty, such as the impersonal nature, the inability to escape human negative emotions. Yet, in balance, the work reflects that despite standing alone in its height, the building is the work of many and would not be existent without the support of many.

Between Dusk and Dawn by Maple Tree

I am in awe. I have read this numerous times trying to decipher the meaning but I am still at a loss. One moment I think it means on thing, then my opinion changes but that is what I love about this poem! It had many interpretations because you leave enough room for the reader to explore rather then you revealing the meaning right off the bat. I loved the mysterious allure this poem contained although it was painted with such vivid imagery. I like that the beginning and ending were tied in together with a similar image because it brought the poem to a satisfying close. I loved how you said you owned your own destiny for that is so true! Although sometimes things happen to us that are out of our control but how we deal with these situations is what paves our destiny. I will keep reading this poem to find more meanings...you did a wonderful job!

    ----

The second stanza made it all for me. I haven't read a poem with such imagery in quite a while. I have fallen in love with the "old" feel here, bringing it back to another time, definitely not a modernized poem. I do love the metaphors here for a lovers' quarrel, though! I thought this was very creative. Typically we see poetry about people fighting but it's more specific to human, but using crickets was so interesting to me. It's like their song is typically sweet, soothing, comforting so when you have angry words and name calling, it hurts that much more. This was amazing!

    It Will Fly
    by Ms Happiness 4 points

Great inner strength is what I felt reading this poem. I love the metaphor of the kite, and how it symbolizes the resilience some people posses, the ones that know how to conquer every obstacle in life. This is a beautiful inspirational poem, well done!

    ----

First off I want to say, that simple and straight from the heart is a very powerful and explosive style and when implemented within a poem it takes on a life of its own...Very pretty poem!

The title made me think from the start and ask questions... as I started to read the word "It" becomes very powerful. I feel like the author is expressing her will to take on life by the tail of a kite and soar beyond the clouds.

Taking life's challenges and running with it, in a positive way. She's telling the world her dream is not small and she will overcome her obstacles and it just left me standing and applauding her positive outlook within this poem.

Letting it flow and rhyme--I love her word usage here. The author is taking words along with her message and making a positive and wonderful statement here..

I was speechless at the end and I had to highlight this poem! Well Done Ms Happiness

    Escape Artists
    by Britt

What a breathtaking and unique love poem! The title is very fun and lively!! Love it!

The author of this elegant and romantic poem takes us to another dimension within a love poem. A time when a couple just wants to escape and relish within their love and at a time, when they need privacy the most.

I really felt the need to highlight this poem because of its simplistic elegance and just fun a romantic nature. My heart smiled as the author describes her love as her Best friend- Very touching, and it just made me smile. This poem is a feel good, romantic gem. I could vision the couple sitting in nature, alone, just holding hands and just being at peace with each other and enjoying the silence and calmness. Just a beautiful, beautiful, poem.

The visionary display is wonderful! It's a touch on the sad side that they need to escape and yet it's so romantic that it touched a part of me, and I understand at the same time. Sometimes the stressor's of live can make a couple feel the need to escape, and so therefore, this poem just touched me, in so many ways. It deserves to be highlighted! Well Done Britt

    Broken By The Poetess

This poem, made me feel very sad as soon as I read it, and the meaning behind it I know is one of love, and confusion, of being so completely in love but of being terrified of rejection. The wording was really simple but I felt that Noura really bled her emotion into it, so well that the simpleness became so complex.

Lace you lips with mine By Lioness

The sweetness of this amidst the romance was smartly similar...yet so very unusual, the words used made me feel warm and as if I could feel everything written. The title was more than captivating and I loved the flow here.

    Skyscrapers (Acrostic)
    by Lebanese Phoenix

I love acrostics that flow, and this poem is so elegant-
Skyscrapers are tall buildings with such a mind boggling sight to the eye, and the author took this title and ran with it...

I love it now that we can center align our poems, and placing this acrostic within the shape of a skyscraper was just the perfect touch to an awesome poem!
"Soaking up the nightfall" --- to start this poem off with such a rich and in depth word usage grabbed me at the start. Elegant nature tones, and the way the author describes the stars is so darn creative!!

Bitterness= Caramelized --Very creative.... Awesome way to describe bitterness.... At this point of the poem I'm melting- I felt that the author is comparing himself to the skyscraper, in regards to the way he feels... and that made me teary..

I love poems that grab me emotionally and at the same time causes my mouth to drop! Love it!
The ending leaves me speechless, because even though there is sorrow, there is optimism, and its inspirational as well.

"Still I dream. Still I will" ------powerful ending, it made me feel like he will overcome his sadness...
I really love this creative piece, Well Done Lebanese Phoenix

A Lost Soul ( Nonet- Acrostic) by Everlasting

First of all, my hats off to you for using two forms within your poem without one getting in the way of the other. I love short pieces that pack so much power and this is one of those poems that leaves a lingering feeling long after you finish reading it. What I got from this poem are the difficulties one faces in life and how they are faced with lanes in which they don't know what to take but end up being tested regardless which can cause for one to lose their soul. I would love a follow up piece to this poem that explores what happens once a soul is lost and is it ever possible to regain it all back or will it forever be missing. This poem raises so many philosophical questions in me that I can go on forever with them but I will say that this poem was brilliant and I really enjoyed the journey you took my mind on.

    Sweetheart You Are Remembered
    by Poetess

"Such an emotional poem with references to the September 11th attacks.. my goodness. I like how rather than using New York she used an apple, and how you'll always remember September. What a beautiful inspiration, the movie Remember Me. One of my favorite movies I could watch over and over, with such a surprising and gut-punch ending. This poem has a beautiful, soft effect with such a strong and sad undertone. I can't even begin to explain the emotional twinge I feel while reading this. One of my favorites from this poetess!"

    Frozen by GIrL aka Meme

AHH this poem let me wanting more! I really wish it was longer...I liked the opening stanza because of how creatively it linked a lifeless winter and one leaving. We have all gone through a moment in our lives where someone important has left us and of course it was unbearable at times and caused some tears to fall, we pick ourselves back up and move on with our lives. I liked the conflict in your line "go away but stay with me." That is how it feels sometimes, we wish to be free of them but can't imagine them gone. Although we might say we don't miss them, sometimes just to get ourselves to believe it...there will always be a part of us that will long for their presence to fill the vacancy they left. Wonderfully written!

Well Done, keep the great talent!
