Poetry versus a Smile by The Poetess

This was beautiful, right from the title on. In the poem you can read much of how she thinks others perceive her. Like she is overly aware of being the centre of attention... Many passages made me smile, I understand what she is saying, how she thinks before she allows her emotions to be captured in words, she wants things to be perfect, poetry to be the perfect representation of her inner world. Excellent work.

Oh dear, this was wonderful! We all cling to poetry for different reasons and you expressed them with ease in this poem. I liked the consistency in the pattern of how you chose to form this poem. Nothing seemed redundant or out of place with everything complimenting one another.

    "I love poetry when Winter
    seems to sit cross-legged
    beside my couch
    spinning a woolen shawl
    for her shoulders, thinking
    that fleece might ever
    warm cold hearts ..."

^The imagery here was out of this world! I honestly could imagine everything you described without doubting anything you said. I just wanted to read this over and over again...You did a great job with this poem!

    by Tara Kay

A tribute to the most healing of all remedies: laughter. I love the many analogies, the wording, the upbeat tone of this peace and really enjoyed the message that the writer has tried to get across: you might as well smile..right?

    Synaesthesia by Xanthe

Whoa...this was amazing! I loved the mention of the four seasons throughout your poem and how you tied it all in nicely together. This told the tale of a love that started so sweet but left one empty in the end...well that is what I got from it. When we first fall in love with someone, their voice is the only song we want to hear and their words are the only thing we want to taste but they say the hottest love burns the fastest...I adored your word choice here...I read each word slowly just to savor it's meaning throughout the piece. Beautifully written!

    Dusty Rose by Lioness

This was so heartfelt and beautiful! I am sure all can relate to feeling invisible at least once in their lives and it is never pretty. You did a great job of describing that loneliness here and how it impacted you. I liked how instead of saying she had 6 kids you made it more creative by saying, "six kids beneath her wings." That was wonderful! I like that you left the last line by instead because it leaves the reader with a lasting impact and left me wondering what would have happened if she had listened...how would things be different? Nicely done!

    ----

This made me fall on the floor...When I read this poem; it made my heart sink... I absolutely adore the author's special elegance within her poetry...and this piece is outstanding...

The title fits perfectly... "dusty" tells me it's a part of her past, "dusty books"...and rose resembles her heart felt childhood emotions, that still are a part of her and always will be a part of her...

My interpretation of this title, it sums up the poem to a tee in my opinion. Each stanza tells me the feelings of loneliness, the pain felt at school, how much the books and library meant to her and just that gut wrenching pain....the ending is what really got me....

The author understood her mother's reasons, but at the end when she writes " I just wished she'd listened"...smacked me hard.... Children just want to be herd, and listened too.... Touching write and a poem that I know will touch everyone, young and old.... Powerful poem, well Done Lioness

    Cockled
    by Blissful

Using the quote as her inspiration or challenge was a great idea. Here she wrote of innocence gone awry, from not only the emotional aspect but the physical as well. She pieced together everything that really made you feel as a reader that you are a part of this story. Everything is so descriptive and gorgeous, I can't go into detail much more than this.

    Her Poems
    by LostLove

Such an emotional message here, and a perfect metaphor. So often we as writers pour out our hearts and then walk away when something isn't as perfect as we think it should be, or want it to be. Sometimes you write something you're just immensely proud of, and it's the poem you get the most critique or criticism over. This was played out in a touching and beautiful way, very unique piece of art!

    ----

Wew! I would not want this lady to be cross at me! This was drenched in venom and it's very clear the writer does not think much of the poet she refers too. It is almost as if she wonders how it can be no one sees the truth as she does: the poems lack of real emotion, real underlying experience and are written just for the sake of writing. This was bitter, raw and hostile and deserves a place on this week's front page.

    Ivory Lips
    by Poet On The Piano

This writer always has a way to tug at your heartstrings and make you feel exactly what she's feeling. She draws you in with her beautiful words perfectly placed, and those images. I swear when reading her work I truly feel specifics of what she says, and this poem is no different. The second to the last stanza got me here, it held the beauty and strength for me. This was absolutely gorgeous and so touchingly sad.

    Let me Know
    by Moonlit Candles

I really adore the subtle lines of this elegant piece-

When a heart is in love it breaths a beautiful light and can be felt within poetic words, this poem is beautiful-

The title is subtle and gentle... just elegant! I just love the rhyme flow within this romantic poem. When I read a rhyme piece I want it to flow within my mind, almost to a point where Im tapping my feet... and this poem was a feet tapper! It's sensual and passionate...

To me this poem sings beautiful with the elegant word usage and soft loving message, I wanted to highlight this piece... very nice!!
    Well done Moonlit Candles

Happy or sad, lonely or loved
    by Naughtymouse

The author of this piece has written a powerful and inspirational poem...

The Title hits all emotions and ties them all together, to remind the reader of the struggles of life and how you can let it all go and be you, with a powerful strength.. I see the author originally intended this to be a quote, but then created a powerful poem, well done!! Each stanza touches on the four emotions displayed within the title and much more.. I love the first stanza

    "In affairs of the heart
    The strongest warrior
    Can be a consumate idiot"

So true!! When love hits, it can bring the strongest to their knees....

Touching on the rich in life can fall... no bodies perfect, life can affect all, big or small.... this poem is filled within powerful messages and lessons.... I really enjoyed this wonderful poem... Well Done Naughtymouse

    Weird doings.

We had Janis institute a 'fix' which allows a judge to vote for the same poem two weeks in a row. Before, if a poem got an HM & carried over to the next week, that judge would have to ask a mod to vote for him/her on that poem. Janis made it so the judges' votes recycle with the weekly reset. Unfortunately, there appears to be a glitch related to it.

Nana posted the poems in accord with a tie breaker between Britt & Connie. However, the tie-breaker carried over to the next week without breaking the tie.

Sorry, Connie. Fate seems to have it in for you.

All I can say (blushing) is CRAP CRAP CRAP!

    *Ahem* We're working on it.
