    Forever And A Day
    by Lostlove1

A lovely tribute to parental love, like only a devoted mother could write. What makes this verse stand out it the sincerity and purity and the heartfelt emotions that are eloquently rendered to us, readers. The love for our children is the most rewarding and lasting of all loves imaginable. Beautiful work, so befitting this joyous Mothers day. Very well done. It almost read like a novel, I suggest this writer to start writing short stories, she would do good at those as well, I feel.

    --

Such beauty in your words! When the poem began, I thought it was about finding the love of your life as in a lifelong partner and was sent for a nice twist when it was described as the birth of your daughter. You did a great job setting that scene up.

"I knew those two tiny brand new hands would be
the same ones holding my tired, old ones,
when my time on earth was almost through."
^Oh dear...that just pulled on my heart strings! Such truth here! You painted a lovely image with the love of a child.

The love a mother feels for her child is beyond any measure and you did a great job of expressing that here. Your choice of words was flawless and the emotion you evoked in me was priceless. This poem is going into my favorites because it is one of my favorite poems written on this site about the love a mother feels when their child is born. Beautifully done!

    Resuscitation by Senyru

What a haunting piece! I love the lingering tone of gloom residing in your words and the build of anticipation you created while scripting your scenes. It made me feel as if I was in this dream with you witnessing and feeling everything with my own senses. I always like to look deeper into my dreams and attempt to grasp some meaning from it and it seems as if you did so while writing your poem. Sometimes we can make more sense of things when we write it down rather than just thinking about it. That is what poetry is for me. I loved your word choice throughout the whole piece because it added a layer of elegance to your poem. The ending was just perfect and so sad. It made me want to read the piece again, out loud, with a different intonation to feel what the ending made me feel. I loved this poem with all of its suspenseful details and imagery...well done!

    ---

My mind exploded with this powerful poem- The authors word usage and creative display of visionary wording is mouth dropping...

The message tossed me into next week... I'm feeling pain and sorrow of a love lost and just- I felt the sorrow of a love gone wrong and also felt like the author was paying for the sins of another before him...

I could be wrong but this is the feeling I got- whichever way it made me escape and feel... I love poems that do this....

The wording was just eye watering and from start to finish I was just in awe- I LOVE THIS POEM!! Can't express this enough- Well done Senyru

    Her Poems
    by LostLove1

I voted for it last week and must vote for it again. The poem is so relatable for so many here and has such a strong emotional tone to it, that it's hard to let this poem go un-noticed. I read this poem often and now have it favorited, it's something I like to go back and draw inspiration from. There is a lot of wisdom within this piece. Truly beautiful.

    Lingering
    by Xanthe

Very descriptive and melancholic, I like how this is written with so much love for her grandmother. The reader can easily relate to this verse and how it is indeed true that all senses are an active part of our memory, the ability to smell being an important one. Grandparents are an important part of our identity and a tribute such as this is not only important for its poetic value, but also a reminder for us all, to respect and cherish our elders.

    X-Ray Tech.
    by Kiko

An insightful look into the world of those who are so easily forgotten: the old people. We tend to forget that age is not a virtue, nor a curse. We all grow old and should not be treated without respect. A thought provoking and intensely sad verse that will hopefully allow the readers to open their eyes to reality. It should not be so that we can only be happy in our memories and dreams once we are old. The image of the old man on the examination table and the contrast between his inner world and his sad reality is heart breaking

Sister of the Moon by Maple Tree

I love the shape of this poem! I think poems should be visually appealing as well as poetically appealing and this was perfect in both aspects! I liked the short lines and the way you created a dream like pace with your words. I felt mesmerized and illuminated with the emotion this poem created. The imagery you created with your words like "sapphire" and "star dust" was flawless and helped add to the mystical atmosphere. Well done! I really enjoyed this one ! :)

    Won't You Save Me
    by Yaki

The beauty about God is he loves you for all your strengths, weaknesses, good times and bad. His love is unending and it's truly an unconditional love. This is a beautifully touching cry out to God for the pain and wrongdoings, but the brilliance here is the second you ask, you receive. There is nothing you can do to earn forgiveness other than to simply ask. This poem makes me tear up everytime I read it, truly a beautifully written and heartfelt piece. The repetition of "won't you save me" throughout the entire piece just gives me chills. We strive for goodness, to be worthy, but we are human and make mistakes. Everyone does. But the strength here is asking for help - your path is so much easier when you let go to God and recognize it's really His path we must go down. I wish I could highlight this entire piece rather than just pieces.

    If I Had Only Known
    by Lioness

Liz this poem has me in tears. The heartbreak and pain is so raw and alive here that it's hard to not be automatically pulled into the emotional aspect of this piece. There are so many times we lose people and wish we could say things we left unsaid, only to agonize about them later. Trust that this person knows your feelings, knows you care, and give yourself the allowance to say goodbye in your own way now. This one definitely tugged at my heart.

    ---

What a powerful piece this is...the author captures our hearts with this tear jerking piece-

I do love the simplistic and elegant style of this author. She takes the raw and deeply emotional subject of her father's passing and paints of a touching portrait of her heartfelt memories...

The beautiful imagery starts this piece off with such beauty - I love her ways of expressing and talking about her father.

The title is one that grabs me the most and sums up this piece to a tee... If only I had known.... It's a question that I have had within my thoughts many a time...the ending is one that left me speechless.... Touching write- Well Done Lioness

Oh fun is this unique poem!! I read this three times and just was blown away by the creative touch and forms of expression...

I too am a poetic holic--- The way the author describes the details in the pub mixing intoxication with poetry was absolutely mind blowing creative...

and then to end it at the end with such a fun and humoristic way is just awesome!!!

The ending was explosive and cute along with funny- "My poetry just lost it's flow"... Really a wonderful poem and I enjoyed this piece! Well done Sesom Obmesa

Erm, why did both of my posts get deleted?

  • Blissful

If part of a post is not necessary, why doesn't a mod just edit that part and leave the rest of the post...why delete it?

  • Sunshine

It was only one part...as I recall..
    like 4 to 5 words...almost

    no?

  • Britt

Well I had one post that congratulated everyone and then asked about the points, the one you PM'd to me/copied.

Then I had another one, which is the first post in the thread I started about the contest discussion. I edited 'that' one, asking it be deleted so I didn't take away from the winner thread. My first post wasn't against any rules and it didn't deviate from the thread.

Edit - spoke with a mod and it was a mistake. Congrats again to winners & hm's! :)

I am so sorry, Britt. I was really trying to go that extra mile for you. Damn girl, you're awesome and all, but next time you ask for a post to be deleted I am gonna think twice before clicking that extra button!

In case anybody is wondering it wasn't me. LOL, just my twin.

Thank you and congrats to everyone else.

I missed Britts comment but I'm sure It was something like where are the points, because I was wondering the same thing.

Looks like maybe a judge short too.

I dont mean to bitch but I dont see why you had to pick today to not post them as screwy as everything has been as of late...especially with 2 wins for me, or is a make-up win for last week?

    Congrats to winners, Hm's

In my opinion, it was well deserved.. but I miss seeing the scores.. they added something cool to the weekly winners.

Edit: I edited my comment, I finished reading the other thread.

I have edited in the poem scores for last week, sent by Nana. Sorry for the confusion.

  • Tara Kay

BUT according to this Liz should have one this week, as she had more votes,

Something is definately up here, whether its a glitch or a cover up...I don't know anymore

  • sibyllene

^Yes, Lioness should have had a win. It was organized that way in the message Sunshine sent me, but the original post up there was reflected the front page wins.

  • Britt

I don't get why it would reflect the front page wins..shouldn't it always go off of the judges/votes? Maybe it could be done that way in the future, since the glitch isn't fixed?

Sib, you should post your last post in the other thread in here so people who may miss that can see it :)

  • sibyllene

It will go off of judges' votes, heretofore, like it did all other weeks besides this last week. I don't know why it wasn't posted like that in this thread... just an organizational attempt, I'm assuming.

    In summary, newcomers:

Votes weren't posted earlier this week. Now you can view them in the winner's thread. They weren't originally posted because it was thought that it would be extra confusing, since (due to a Janis glitch) we had votes rolling over from last week determining the winners. Therefore, the front-page poems weren't always the ones that the judges chose for the current week.

It is pretty accepted now that, in case of weird site issues, we will still post the judges votes and try to explain the circumstances.

    Janis has been notified.

Congratulations Lioness on your win..seems someone would at least edit this thread to show that you won too :)

Awww thanks! :"> It means a lot.

Though of course the poems that did win, deserved it too!

I thought Her Poem got a 10+4 this week, but 18 carried over from last week, for a site-total of 22.
If the glitches are fixed, Connie would win two weeks in a row instead of twice in one week, and Lioness would win this week.

  • Britt

    Last week was 7+7....

  • Lioness

I think I am confused but that's OK... normal for me lol

Points come out of the woodwork.
That's the problem with the glitch.
We have 3 poems right now with points that should not be there.

  • Britt

Did a judge vote and not send info in?

  • Larry Chamberlin

That is what I thought happened with Her Poem this week.
