    Yes!

I do understand and I am supportive. I don't like the quick secrecy when I asked a question, or that a decision was made without all mods even knowing about it. That's odd to me. I also don't get why people keep talking like Im saying there needs to be more work. It's doing the exact same thing that's always been done and just posting the points that come with the comments. I don't even understand what everyone else was thinking I was suggesting?

How else are you gonna vote for your best friend every week without raising suspicion.

^Hahahaha, that post made me crack up! Are you really doubting our judges? That is distasteful and totally out of line. You absolutely have no damn idea what happened the last week or even this week, in particular, in this thread, lol.

Britt, we all agree with you. Something used to be done before and now, all of a sudden, it was decided not to be. You have every right to question! But again, that is only my opinion, I don't know, guys. I really have no problem whether the points will be revealed or not, I just have to agree with whoever said that hiding them is useless!

Edited: Janis hasn't showed up yet? I guess I have something to add to his to-do list. Maybe useful, maybe not.

Dan, I agree with your comment, and imho that is exactly what it would do without the checks and balances we have voted as a group to show publicly. It is a nice addition to that is not manual.

BTW I have offered up my services as a stand in judge if needed, even on a temporary basis or even on a short notice. Though there have been no offers for me to help. It does seem like there may still be some kind of secrecy going on if all this is going to be hid. Sorry it is just my opinion that is an excuse that only so many judges are doing this or so many quit. Work it out so that it is a week in advance so that way the poems that are picked by Sunday won't show up til 1 week and 1 day later that way there is plenty of time to find a replacement judge or send comments or what have you.

Dixie, how would hiding the points allow the judges to be biased like Dan said? I am a bit confused. I am with revealing the points/comments and all but just wondering.

  • Lostlove1

    Dixie is so right...

All this bullshit makes me think maybe just maybe my wins arent actual wins, all this hush hush crap.

Last week was bad enough with what happened here but we just had to make it worse this week by not posting points...

  • nouriguess

God, you guys are accusing the judges! We don't know if that is even true or not. We should wait. Sibs is going to show us the point and only there, suspicions will come to an end.

  • Lostlove1

The points were shown to God and the world last week, and forever before that sooooooooo yeah it seems a tad bit odd that its not revealed this week.
    I think mostly everyone agrees!

I sent the points for Sib as a pm,, in case you decided to post, since I should be out XD

^^^who me? in a pm to Sibs? you guys make me crazier than my own kids :) LOL

Nana meant 'you' like 'you guys' :P Unless I'm wrong.

Connie, I swear to holy cows that I am with revealing the points but I was just telling you that you guys shouldn't accuse judges like that. We aren't sure yet. Whoever wants to cheat and give points to members can create a comment, easily! I don't see the point of this.

Oh..sent in a pm to Sibby are they. Hmm.....

    Oh Sibbbbbby-.....

    we are waiting most patiently.

Ps. Poetess. Cows are holy to some people yes but not to me I eat them better swear on something else lol j/k

No ones accusing the judges. at least not me.

I'm all for keeping the votes for I personally like to see whether the judges were all in agreement over some of the winners, for example if 3 or more judges voted for the same poem, it is nice to know

though I dont think it changes anything either way

  • Daisy if you do

Just so you know I was not/am not implying in any way the wins this week weren't deserving. Just would like to know why the whole points thing isn't being displayed. I believe it gives a fair view that everything is straight up. With secrecy and not revealing the points it goes back to the whole scene we tried to get away from before implementing the points system.
It is in my opinion it is easier to hide the real winners (not saying that Nana would do that) if only one person is in charge of getting the comments. I don't know if things changed since I was a judge but we had to send to P&Q mod account and the host of the contest each week. I would guess that would make it easier to keep checks and balances in order.

It is disturbing to see that this as stated by a couple of mods was said that "it was mentioned as a suggestion but that was all the knowledge they had of the situation and then to find it had been implemented without further investigation, participation or suggestions that would help.

I am still in firm belief that the resources that this site has (as in our members) are not being utilized to their fullest potential. Even picking judges was a popularity contest (if you got the most votes you were asked to be a judge, it is no secret that was the way it was decided and if they declined it went down the line)

Now with that being said, in Janis absence the site as a whole implemented a lot of ways of getting around the "issues" that were arising. Why do we have to wait on Janis to fix something when as one mods stated there was no glitch this week. So if there wasn't a glitch then where are the scores and why if all judges didn't vote, comment or completely score have they not been replaced with the stand in judge that avoids ties or by someone like myself that has offered to be an emergency judge.

  • Decayed

Why hiding the scores from the public?

It's really unfair... similar to not revealing the scores in American Idol.

  • sibyllene

The votes were not posted last week, but they will be this week. I don't think it was done out of a desire for secrecy - I think Nana just had a valid idea and didn't think that it would be a big deal. Since most people have voiced differing opinions, however, I don't think anyone has a problem with showing points just as we have been for the last year or so.

  • nouriguess

I still don't get why you guys don't want to show us those damn votes! You really are making us suspicious.

  • Tara Kay

I just saw a thread from Sibs that said that Lioness was one of the winners in accoradance to what Nana sent her...
    different to what Nana posted...

but when I went to comment, the thread had been deleted and now the votes have been added to the previous thread,

AND AS YOU SEE Lioness "If i had only known" had more votes (7 and 4) than LostLove1 and "her poems" (4)

    What is going on?

  • sibyllene

Sorry! I made a blunder. I thought that Nana had sent me the poems for THIS week, so I posted that up in a thread. Then I realized that they were actually the votes for LAST week, which hadn't been put up in the winner's post. So I deleted that thread, and edited the vote scores into last week's thread for you guys to see.

  • Britt

So the ones that have been edited into the winners thread now.... those are the current ones for this weeks winners? Because technically "Her Poems" only got 4 points.... and it won. So it had the other votes from last week carry over. It's been stated multiple times that a win didn't happen by glitch... so if those votes Sib just posted in Nana's thread are correct... there was a win by glitch.

  • Tara Kay

Well Yes, but I don't know anymore I am just dead confused...

  • Britt

I don't think anyone will be overly upset or mad/care if there is a win by a glitch, because we all understand that it's wonky right now and we all know the mods don't have any power to fix it. It's up to Janis, and hopefully he can get it sorted all out now.. as long as we put the actual votes with comments/poems etc. That would remove most/all issue I think.

  • sibyllene

I thought a glitch was what happened last week?

Larry says that "Her Poems" got 4 points by a judge, but 22 points overall, from... somewhere.

This has only been happening since we asked Janis to make it possible for judges to vote for the same poem for a second week. I don't know if the votes are rolling over, or if other people accidentally got vote buttons, or if it's just a ghost in the system.

But yes, those votes were for this week.

  • Britt

That's what we mean. A glitch happened this week, too, because if you see, Lostlove's Her Poems only got a total of four points this week. She has had votes from previous weeks (2 I think, are poems now not falling off? Lol). So technically, Lioness' poem should've won as she had 11 pts.

I think the votes are rolling over, because if you check the votes from the previous weeks, it's the correct amount.

  • Lostlove1

    Oh Goody.

The glitch ghost likes me :)

This is wayyyyyy wacked! I am soooooo confused,

last week "her poems" had 7+7

  • sibyllene

Yes. I was thinking that the votes I just edited in were for last week, because apparently I thought that it's been a week since May 14th? Guh. Ignore that. I need to pay more attention in school or something.

Rolling over would make the most sense. It's possible that Janis misunderstood what we were asking for. But if that's the case, at least we know what the problem is....

  • Britt

I thought that was always the problem? LOL It was stated last week that the votes rolled over, and thats why my poem showed up and Connie's didn't.

  • sibyllene

Then what other glitches have we been wondering about?

    WHAT IS HAPPENING??????????????????????????????!

    ...

    sigh.

  • Lioness

I think it's good that you guys have posted the votes at least that way if there is a glitch we can know about it. I completely understand that there are glitches from time to time as long as people are aware of it and things are getting fixed.

Even though my poem does not have a win next to it I am still very proud of that one. If the glitch is what happened this week it does not make the actual winners any less deserving. I thank the judges for their lovely comments and votes on my poem!

    Love you guys!

    x

  • Lostlove1

Even if they rolled over where do my 22 total points come from?

  • Britt

Sib I have no idea, because I thought everyone has been talking about the glitch of votes rolling over.. so it looks like "phantom" votes.

  • sibyllene

I was going to say "last week," but it looks like you had 14 last week, which would bring you to 18. However, if a 5th judge voted a 4 but didn't send their votes to Nana, that would put you up to 22?

Britt, I must have missed that part of the thread last week. I thought there were more votes showing up than there were judges.

  • Britt

.. it wasn't discussed in the mod room? :/ I hope Janis knows it's an issue lmao

  • sibyllene

The issue was discussed, but I either didn't see anything about it being rollover, or else I did, and promptly forgot it. To be honest, I have not been very present these last few weeks, until yesterday.

As far as Janis...he doesn't. He hasn't responded to anything. But we'll keep attacking his email : )

  • Britt

Lol okay as long as there is something out there saying it needs to be fixed. I get a lot happens and it's not always easy to read every tiny thing. The way you said made it sound like it hadn't been talked about at all, I was like omg what, no wonder everyone is so confused lol

  • sibyllene

Haha! Yeah... no, it's been talked about. I'm not saying I'm not still confused, though. : )

    In summary, newcomers:

Votes weren't posted earlier this week. Now you can view them in the winner's thread. They weren't originally posted because it was thought that it would be extra confusing, since (due to a Janis glitch) we had votes rolling over from last week determining the winners. Therefore, the front-page poems weren't always the ones that the judges chose for the current week.

It is pretty accepted now that, in case of weird site issues, we will still post the judges votes and try to explain the circumstances.

    Janis has been notified.

  • Larry Chamberlin

There are votes not accountable to judges. We do not know where all of them come from. Some are rolled over, but even then not all the votes do roll over. There does not seem to be a discernible pattern yet.

A radical experiment might be to 'demote' ALL experts, then 'promote' the current judges for the weekend. If anyone needs to vote a tie breaker, each mod can promote as needed.

  • Britt

Are there experts that aren't judges or mods...?

  • silvershoes

Dixie, there's no popularity contest with nominating judges since you can nominate yourself.
All it takes is one nomination and then you can accept or decline it.
If you accept it, you go on our list of potential judges. We pick a random 5 (sometimes we start with members who haven't judged before, to be fair) and as they step down, we go down the list and ask nominees if they are willing to take over.
If you haven't been asked, it's because your name is further down the list.
    The list itself is random.

So to say it is a popularity contest or that there's some conspiracy... it's just not true.

Nana: So glad it's not more work! I don't know what I was thinking. I'm sort of frazzled with school and work. Thank you for agreeing to continue posting points.
