I am not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but I had found my poem on someone's tumblr page and requested it be removed, filled out one of the forms etc.

I have done this before with them and have had no issues.

I found one the other day, and sent through the resquest and now they're asking for a government photo ID of me??? They said I can wipe out the details etc that shows all the personal information but I've never heard of a website asking for this. I think it's strange. I mean they've removed stuff before for me without asking for these details.

I replied advising them this but I wanted to know if anyone else had the same thing happen to them. There's no way I am giving them a photo ID of me.

I advise you not to do that, I don't know.. because websites usually don't do that.

Do not give them a photo of you, Liz! Some websites might be dangerous and suspicious and I'm sure that website is one of them. I don't know but I do advise you not to send anything. Wait till a mod comes here and they will know more than me. But that's not just strange, rather creepy. :/

I'd probably just be blunt about it and ask why they'd need a pic, if it's a serious request, they'll end up replying properly being able to name you the reasons though I'd be careful nonetheless.

I did ask them actually but just waiting for their reply.

I guess they weren't counting on the fact that I would question it and the fact that they have removed things before. Maybe they know the person who stole my stuff lol who knows.

I still think the monkey thing would be funny

Please also take a photo of yourself holding a piece of paper that says "Tumblr, this is me". Then, attach that photo in a reply to this email message.

Or, if you would prefer, send us a scan/photo of a government-issued picture ID. You can obscure your contact information, birthday, and ID number from the scan/photo if you wish. We just need to see your name and your photo on a government-issued picture ID.

This is part of what I wrote back...

As far as my photo idenficiation goes, I have never been asked to provide this when requesting an official takedown from either Google, tumblr, or any other web site (I have previously requested items be removed from tumblr before which have been actioned) without me sending a government photo id.

Don't do it.

First, it is inappropriate on their part.
Second, it does not follow logically, that your photo would help in any way to locate a poem.

Send them my contact on here as a mod who is willing to vouch for you.

Larry is right seriously inappropriate and uncalled for. I hope he replies to you. I'm curious to what he has to say after you questioned him.

If your ganna do it that way, you need to write tumblr on your cheek, then draw some lips, take a picture and send it to them, but if you do it that way, make sure its a man who dose it. no one wants to see a mans hairy ass

That content has been removed, but you may need to clear your web browser's cache or temporary internet files to see the removal. It also may take up to an hour for these changes to take effect.

I wouldn't understand what they would need the photo for in any situation.
