...anything on the latest mass shootings in America? This time 7 deaths have been recorded but...there doesn't seem to be much on the news and...nothing mentioned on this site...

Police are treating it as an act of domestic terrorism it seems. Anyone have more details?

I'm surprised too. I've done some research into it myself and saw a few people post about it on Facebook, but hardly anything. Meanwhile the theatre shooting remains the hottest topic around!
Why is that? Are Punjabi-American Sikhs not as important as white Americans?

    ^^
    I sincerely hope not but...as a non-american I can't really answer your question.

I'm still trying to find out the nationality of the shooter (one of the 7 dead)....news is very sketchy over here?

^He's more information on the shooting, it actually happened in the state I live in so it's been all over the news here. They just recently identified him so not a whole lot of information has really been given. Hope this article helps a little.

The Olympics are going on, so that's probably why. I've seen it talked about and reported but I haven't read much into it... Been super busy :/

Thanks Temps and LS for the information you have provided...really sad that the only reason appears to be the colour of their skin.

Yeah...One of LS's posts said that....that's what I meant by it appearing it was only the colour of their skin that caused these deaths....how very sad.

Well...he's also dead so I wonder just what happens now...I'm sure there will be an investigation into it all but....very little comfort for the families left to grieve I'd imagine.

My boyfriend is a Sikh and I wrote a term paper on his religion about a year ago... not that I'm an expert, but I know enough about Sikhism to know it's sheer ignorance to condemn a Sikh for his or her beliefs. One of the fundamental values of Sikhism is accepting all people and ALL RELIGIONS. Sikhs not only respect other religions, but they promote them. Their belief is that religions are equal pathways to the same destination; the same God (even polytheism is encouraged as a representation of His facets). It's a beautiful religion. All people are welcome inside Gurdwaras to pray and share in a sense of community and faith.
This is not the first time Sikhs have been killed for a misunderstanding of their religious values, and sadly, it won't be the last.

To quote one of my Sikh friends, "Sikhism teaches that all of humanity was created by the One Onkar (God), who is addressed by many names and understood differently. Sikhism is based on religious tolerance and to respect all other religions. Sikhs believe that one should defend the rights of not just one's own religion but the religion and faith of others as a human right. At the end of every Sikh prayer is a supplication for the welfare of all of humanity. Sikhism does not adhere to violence, hatred or injustice..it's a religion that preaches coexistence, love and peace."
