    Lol Yaki.... hahahahhahaha

I love your titles. I swear if I saw them in the market, I'd buy them all.

Usually, all titles are plain and simple and unattractive.. but yours are magical :P

If I were to choose a title for a book, it would be that of a poem amongst the book.

I think being published would ruin most writers here, because lets be honest we're all amatuers. The second people like us get involved in dealing with an editor who can chop the crapola out of our material in order to make it "sell", we're screwed artistically.

There are ways to bi-pass and self publish online (not here, I mean a collection) and that is the only thing I'd be interested in doing.

I disagree. If someone has the talent, why not show it to the world? why keep it encircled in a tight area?

    * edited: I guess we can always find unselfish editors,.

I am not saying people shouldn't try and share their poetry (lol why'd you think I come here like the rest of you.....not just to stalk sibby!). It is a fact though if you are trying to get publish by a respected and successful publisher, they will edit your work. Even famous authors get edited and they have the talent and a following.

It is the same in music and film and almost every other artform.

I'm currently searching for the best way to publish my poetry collection online, complete with all the artwork my friends did for me.

Yes, I see. Maybe it's different in the UK..

With respect to online publishing, does it get the same attention as that of the hard publishing?

"A day in the life of your average Soldier" A series about random soldiers and the daily occurances within their units and during their off time by Samuel Ernst,

"What the hell am I going to do with that?" A story about a combat enginer given a giant metal rod and told to start poking the ground, By Samuel Ernst

"This wasnt covered in my contract," A review about what the hell is wrong with soldiers in todays army, by Samuel Ernst and other soliders who have been in the service for more then 3 years.

"WHY SERGENT?" A book about the forbidden question, By Samuel Ernst

and "Army Life, True Story," The most boring novel ever written, By Samuel Ernst.

Honestly, I never once thought about being publsihed. Dont think I would want to really. It sounds restrictive and limited. And I would have to learn grammer and shit, and thats just to hard. lol

    There is a way

The following link takes you to Amazon Kindle self publishing

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_left_cn?ie=UTF8&nodeId=200554840

You can create and publish your work to the amazon kindle bookstore, all the info is on here that you need to get started. For those of you that do not know what a kindle is it is an E-book reader.

The only drawback is you cannot publish anything you have submitted to this site, so you would need to either remove and edit so it is different or start a new collection.

I will warn you, poetry doesn't sell by the masses so you will not be a millionaire over night.

They ask for your bank details, but don't worry this is just so they can pay your royalities to you, there is no fee to publish, they just take a cut if you sell anything.

Your cover and tiltle will be crucial to make your book stand out.

It takes a little research but there are free kindle books that detail how to publish to kindle, including help with formatting etc. There is also a free download that shows how your book will look on Kindle.

Once I stop being a lazy git, I am going to submit a book. I have done 1 self help book on sales techniques which has been published but it is utter crud, (i wrote it in 1 night just to test this whole thing)

    it is here,
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/BECOME-BETTER-SALES-ADVISOR-ebook/dp/B0082Q4DN4/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1347179232&sr=1-1#_

DONT BUY IT! IT IS RUBBISH

just to show you that even a nutter like me can do it.

    good luck everyone

I don't think online publishing garners the same level of respect as physical publishing, but I think it's gaining ground. Remember when everyone thought online classes "didn't count?" There are some people now who make a living purely by selling 2 dollar copies of their books on Kindle.

That is interesting, I'm way behind on the whole kindle business, never really thought to look down that route publishing-wise. Thanks for mentioning it!

With regards publishing, I know that a lot of 'serious' publishers wont accept work if it doesn't come through an agent, or if you haven't built up a portfolio of publication in smaller magazines, won competitions, etc to have some background behind you. I guess they are trying to sell copies and look for more marketable names and to give it some credibility.

I know most people advise never to pay to have your work published: If you have to pay to get a book published then they are only binding the book for you, they have no incentive to sell copies. If you don't pay publishers to publish your work (I reckon nearly all serious ones don't request you pay) then they have to sell copies to make money, which benefits everyone.

You would be surprised at the amount of publishers around, even from the Twitter page the suggestions always pop up with new publishers, magazines, websites, etc, must be hundreds/thousands of them. The only other place I submitted my poems to was this online magazine that I reckons holds little or no credibility in terms of getting published in print, but its nice to see your name and poems there alongside others, Ill allow my poetic vanity to admit :)
