Greatest Challenge/Obstacle You've Ever Overcome

Just curious to know what sort of life changing decisions you've made and how it's improved your life.

I'm not generally a big risk taker and I lead a pretty boring life because of it. However the biggest obstacle I've battled was myself.. learning bits and pieces of who I am (which is a lifelong lesson) and learning to love myself. I'm my own biggest enemy sometimes and being able to love "me" has been definitely life changing. My relationship with God is different and more personal, as is the relationship with my husband. I'm making more choices for myself (such as leaving a job I was unhappy in, even though it was secure and easy money). I can honestly say I love my life, and I though I have struggles in daily life, I feel I can cope with them much better now.

Wooo well done you :) that's great. Loving yourself comes so easy to some people (seemingly) but sometimes life can draw us further and further away from succeeding at that challenge. I fight every day to look for the good in me. Once I've done that, who knows who might notice! ;-)

Thanks for your answer, Britt :)

Interesting topic there twiggy. I expect you should give us your answer soon!

I think I'm still facin my biggest challenge, and that is figuring out what I really want to do with my life in terms of career and love. I've done some things that were hard or nerve wracking like singing in front of hundreds of people or appearing on TV etc, but...I got past those things.

I've still not overcome my questions.

Is singing something you enjoy? Or was that a one off? And where/when did you appear on TV!?

My biggest challenge has been getting through a lot of mental health issue but every day is a new and stronger one so I think its getting there. I also have become more confident in myself especially at work and thats a challenge.

I wouldn't say I've overcome challenges but I've definately got further than I thought possible

That's great Tara :) battles won within the mind often toughen our armour in prep for every other possible battle. Every day survived is a challenge overcome (ooh deep)

Getting over my parents death and being able to go out of this ordeal unscathed...approximately. Studying Pharmacy and managing my own house alone and working and learning life. Going through my phobias and past problems. I guess my challenge looks pretty silly up there amongst others' but I'm looking forward to accepting another one!

    Living for others, not oneself.

When your own family abandons you in time of need, and leaves you to mercy of death, and a truly altruistic soul out of nowhere unexpectedly gives you a new leash on life, you learn about true generosity, one which is not repayable in kind, not in this lifetime.

Life is not just about yourself, or loving yourself, but what you can do for others, when their need is greater than yours. We can always do with less.

Noura your story is far worse than most doll. You're doing great and I admire your strength!

My biggest challenge, I could say was my parents divorce or my grandmas death in the same yr, but really, there is no greater challenge right now. I'm forcing myself to stay single for a few years. Specifically this one. I'm in school and career focused. I need me time. I need to find out who I am and what I want. I've never done that. I've always had a boyfriend since I was 16 and this yr , I ended my relationship and decided to focus on my school and getting to know me, my mind set is on my future and not the present. I can't do this dating thing with boys who are too time consuming and emotional draining. ..this is my yr and I'm excited to see where it takes me.

Ah, my life has been rich with experience, but I can't say I've found any huge obstacles. Perhaps I know how to avoid them. Perhaps I'm blessed. So far.

The bravest thing I've ever done is not to overcome and achieve something, but to accept that I must give up on it.

Me being a bed-wetter till 10-11 yrs of age.
    assassination of my uncle.
death of my 3 cousins by cancer.
living a 30 days of war in 2006.
fighting my stage fright by joining drama club.

and... living in terror everyday in Lebanon. you don't know when you're going to turn into ashes.

-- But, I always manage to find my escape. I can call myself an Escapist now. Though it's not something to enjoy. at all.

    Nice thread!
