A Franken storm

A Franken storm on the way

    Hee ho! fear my ways
    O' ye Yuppies
    I was born a killer
    so be wary
    hide your heads...
Sandy is my name, and I
    am on my way

    I am full of anger
    will rattle your guts
    my ways are not straight
    I will swaggle your coast
    aim at your heart (DC)
bruise the city of brotherly love

    North, will I then head
    shower my swath, with
    pelting rain, howling
    wind, hail and snow
on all thy 13 founding states
Tomorrow, I aim for the Big Apple

Yup, I was born a hell raiser
    a thousand missiles,
    packed within my chest
    to stir up your angst
    and I promise... an
    unforgettable show

    When I am done
    you will surely,
    have the biggest scare
    to remember me
    this Hallows night
    ye, all you non-believers!

    I am Sandy,
    a son of satan
    Here to ring your
    daylights out, pop your eyes
this night of the full moon
    Ahh-wooooooooo......

So, I would like to post this challenge to all poets who wish to participate. Show your poetic talent to match this evil one! Post you poems based on any Hurricane or natural disaster you have experienced or simply make one based on your knowledge of recent disasters.

(My sympathies and best wishes to all who will experience the wrath of Sandy, soon to hit the upper East coast, with a whammy).
This one is predicted to be the biggest storm ever of its kind since 1903.

Ok...here's my attempt...I was looking for the poem I wrote about Cyclone George which hit WA in 2007 but couldn't find it so....just an off the cuff one to get the ball rolling :)

    Untitled...(Double Senryu)

    Your Eye...

    Mayhem...your iris
    destruction dilates pupil:-
    you blink then, goodbye.

    My Eye...

    Through my lens...rubble
    aqueous humour? they're ...tears:-
    I wish I was blind.

Beautiful! and not so easy, should give it a try, it's been a long time since I've wrote anything!

Hellon, that's deep/dark...I need to kick my brain

LS... It's hurricane Sandy, not Sammy :)

Fixed. Thank you. Though Sammy rhymed better with whammy! I made the same error in the body of the poem last night when writing it up in record time for me (10 mts), which Hellon was kind enough to quickly point out.

    Hellon, a deep Senyru, enjoyed.

C'mon everyone, you have the next several days to write one up...anything related to a natural disaster...hurricanes/cyclones, earthquakes, hailstorms, and more.

Written after braving Ike coming through Houston.

    Full Moon Hurricane

    Darkness. Howls. Nothing else.
    Huddled on the ground, witness to mayhem;
a shroud of deeper abyss passes in a blink
and the eye reveals a hole of brilliance,
explosive - expanding - generative, fluid.

Clarity: a landscape appears of dropping trees,
    flooded gullies and torn branches;
nothing living ventures out save me in curious folly.

    This hollow night is imbued
    with unnatural sepia moonlight spreading;
the grandeur mixes into roiling clouds of ink,
light fades rapidly away, blown back to the source
as a wall of destruction whips me again to the ground,
and the eye is gone, preternatural tranquility extinct.

Superb sentiments Larry. I love how you poetically define "darkness" and "clarity" on "hollows night."

Hot air from Nallydumas was my attempt to predict the hurricanes and tropical storms of 2010

    Hot air from Nallydumas
    by Michael D Nalley
    I can tell you this
    Danielle will be a Miss
    unsinkable as the titanic
    unthinkable to el Hispanic
but Earl will give it a whirl
    Category four
    and then more
    Fiona will fart
    right from the start
    Time for lots of tissue
    when Gaston has an issue
    As for Hermine
    floods determine
    much more
    than Igor
    cat 4
Don't be too quick to snarl
    at Julia and Karl
    the pan handle
    awaits a big surprise!!
    a category two
    without restriction
    what is my prediction?
    EL from SNL.. El Nino
    is Spanish for the child
    Lisa loopner and Todd
Should she stay or go wild
    Does anyone know
where the Love of God goes
    when the winds of November
    come early?
