The Mods...

Anyway it is good to see many familiar faces of the old PQ pond. Far be it from me to muddy the waters , but I don't believe many of us including Hellon wants to see the little fish consumed by the larger agressive fish . I have been to larger forums where they lure you in by posting "feel free to leave a comment" and when I do they remove it. I was banned on a self moderated youtube channel for my cheeky remark ." I aways feel free when I waste time" . This is not aimed at any member or mod past or present . I love civil discussions

Nice to see your face, Michael.

So everyone understands how Mods are elected now yeah, cause that seems to be the one thing to come out of this rather charming thread.

    :)

Welcome back Ddavid, good form taking my supporting post to Hellon and twisting it so it sounded like I was screaming at her. Classy.

  • Hellon

Kevin....I can make up my own mind and....I certainly did not think you were screaming at me....not in any way at all :)

Now....if we want to do this for fun....will you be the first to give me your speech?

  • Hellon

People I'd really like to hear speeches from for this mythical position as mod...

    Kevin
    Rabea
    Donald
    Michael
    Max
    Abby
    Nicko
    Real Meaning
    Britt
    Nana

and, of course, any of the current mods who feel their comfortable seat may be threated by these guys can participate. Come on guys....we have all seen these election campaigns on TV....convince me...lie to me....what would you do for P&Q if elected....what would you do for ME if elected<<<< this is way more important than question 1 LMAO!!!!

Hmm, I'm not so sure I could pretend to want to be a mod because of the history.

I used to be a mod, then I stepped down because everything I'd set out to do had been done by the team (official rules, including moderator rules). When I left, everyone said they were sorry to see me go and if I wanted to return, I'd be welcome (that was the official Janis+mod team authored word). I then decided not being a Mod wasn't as involving and things were happening that I felt I could add good insight on. I asked to be reinstated and was refused. Apparently they had a meeting and went back on their word.

This was the old mod team though, way before Sibby and Jane and Larry. I really lost interest in the website after that.

Oh well Kevin...use all this to write the speech of your life. Being a mod before gives you some insight into what happened in the past compared to today? You will sure have seen changes..some good...some maybe that you'd like to change some...come on....it's only for fun. I mean...if I were running I'd change the official language on the site to gaelic! lol!!! (This is kind of what I had in mind...ridiculous stuff you know)?

Sherry has not been here because of personal issues... but if everyone insist here we go

    1. Lost 50 pounds in less than two months
    2. Dr.'s thought/think it might be cancer
    3. been undergoing testing (not nice testing either)
    4. Daughter had an abnormal ekg
    5. Son hurt ankle that he just had surgery on and folded the good ankle
    6. Working in the ministry
    7. Other personal issues that I will not air out here!

Kevin... Either I didn't remember or I didn't know that's what had happened. I became a mod shortly after you stepped down. I don't remember having a discussion that you couldnt come back. :/

Hellon I have no speech, I believe in term (and time) limits. I was a mod for four or five years, I served my time lol. I also have a lot of personal stuff going on.. work and being busy with church stuff so I don't have the time to put into being a mod anymore.

God bless you and your family, Sher.
I don't have any problem with your temporary absence because I know your history. Sometimes, many hardships rain above our heads in a very short period of time.

I guess when you have a whiter page, you will come back and reign over again!

All mods are doing amazing jobs. There's no need to replace any of them, especially that 0.0001% of PnQers have the traits that qualify them to be moderators.

    We are neighbors of pain!!
almost two years ago my father collapsed. They diagnosed him with blood cancer, a very aggressive one. For six month I took him to the hospital weeks after week's days after days for blood transfusion or .... Then he died in my arm, an unbelievable horror!! I cried and cried, pouring something bitter and bottomless like ocean.
Later the guy who I bought my store from, due to my absence and being trusting, took over my business. I was so exhausted and grieving that I couldn't even put up a fight.
Few months later it was my turn; they diagnosed me with a cancerous ulcer. My stomach was so acidic I thought ( knew) I was going to die. I could eat almost nothing. My stomach was producing acid enough to feed a factory. My throat was so swollen that I couldn't swallow my saliva. It was then that I decided to live. I preformed miracle, as my doctor describes. By changing my diet to something absolutely unbelievable I 100 percent cured myself. And last month the doctor with shiver of amazement in his voice said that not only my cancer is gone, there, is not any trace of ulcer either.

    Great, real meaning!

Did your diet involve only alkaline stuff?
    what did you eat exactly?

  • ddavidd

It was my initial thought. But I needed to do something more drastic.
I used a juicer and blender to make something like fresh v8 but I added another 8 to it ::V88
ALL THE ROOTS GREEN AND VEGETABLE I COUD GET MY HANDS ON( including some herbs too). Cut them and clean them in advance to make the presses easy. I have taken this cocktail few times a day. It was a distance not anyone could go. But it preformed miracle.

I put the fruits and greens in blender. juiced all the roots and greens' stems and added to the blender.
The number of things sometimes was more then hundred. Of course a little bit of everything. I went for variety because it affects the quality and served my purpose better.

I did not mined to use acidic fruits like citrus and so on.
Even though knowing fresh fruits and vegetables are not recommended for ulcer, my strategy was, this wealth of healing properties if bypasses the digestive system even through some irritation, they are going to come back and repair the system.

^ Your personal success in adversity is certainly commendable.
Perhaps it was a metaphorically "malignant ulcer"= "callous ulcer" not a "cancerous ulcer", as you survived it.

"...fresh fruits and vegetables are not recommended for ulcer"
^ Very true, as they may contain loads of H. pylori, the bacterium linked to both benign and malignant ulcers.

Scientifically, the presence of stomach acid and pH <4.0 is one of the major factors which protects the gastric mucosa from developing a cancer, and vice-versa (i.e reduction/lack of acid =hypo/achlorhydria, such as in atrophic gastritis, pernicious anemia, and H. pylori bacterial infection which causes loss of acid producing cells.)

Generally speaking, salty, smoked, and spicy food rich in nitrosoamines, carcinogens that seem to increases the tendency to a stomach cancer, as seen by its high incidence in Korean and Japanese foods.

LS...I'm not going to use Dr. Google for this..I'm just going to answer as I know....I have lived in Sth Korea and yes the food is very salty and spicy but...I just don't know any Korean who has suffered any form of cancer....they all live a lot longer than us westerners as far as I know and, look years younger. I've seen very elderly koreans...I'm talking well into their 80's still out tending their crops and rice paddys...they also collect cardboard and clean up the streets in general... because they are still a community at the moment. They also eat a lot of green vegetables...including the stalks which most of us cut off and bin so....maybe RM has genuinely stumbled upon something for his own benefit and...if he has...good for him!

Yes, exactly why Dr. Google does what it is supposed to do, clear our mind from false beliefs, by presenting actual data from peer reviewed literature, dear Hellon..haha.

Gastric cancer was the #1 cancer amongst Koreans until 1981, and now #3 since 1988 when reported as all ages/sex combined. In Korean males, it still remains #1. Here is the Pubmed citations to support it:
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3204471/
    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3204471/figure/F2/

^ The graph also shows that Koreans have the highest incidence of this cancer in the World!

The reason you may not have known anyone perhaps, is because its yearly incidence is still only 87 per 100,000 population per year (all sexes combined), so you need to know at least 100+ Koreans, before you run in to 1 who has been affected.

And I thought you were a believer, in my faith, Dr. Google (=scientific basis of human beliefs and faiths)....chuckle :/

    David
how do those stats, including incidences, compare to the following:
USA. Mexico. Australia. China. Brazil. Ethiopia. UK.

  • A lonely soul

The 2nd link above, figure 2 from the epidemiology article will answer your question Larry. Adding the male + female numbers will give you the incidence for each country which maintain the stats. China is high on the list, USA and UK lower, and I bet the rest of the countries you mention (Brazil, Australia) have very low numbers, so not picked by the WHO compilation. Ethiopia, I don't know has enough medical facilities to be able to maintain a cancer registry.
I am a bit surprised with India not being high on the list though...they eat salty, hot, deep fried food too. Plus, they also eat plenty of root vegetables which are high in nitrates, converted to nitrosamines by enzymes in our mouth instantly. Deep frying food produces acrylamide, and charred meats produce heterocyclic amines - both known carcinogens.
But, there are other factors in their diet, high citric acid/Vit. C content and turmeric powder which neutralize many nitrosamines on contact, standard ingredients in India cooking. Plus few other facts that I forgot, less meats (higher in nitrates than most vegetables), smoking and alcohol...though that is changing, unfortunately.

I have no desire to become a Mod ,but I am grateful for the ones we have now

Many still recall the days when this forum was patrolled by trolls
