Color scheme # 2

I want an IP for my birthday, Jane. I want it huge, colorful and cheerful, with mosaic and flowers and butterflies curved upon it.

Yes and we should nominate our poems too. Kev would love to see my latest about him nominated... also by me.

I no longer know... Is this a serious thread or a joke?

As far as the u in colour.. Pnq tells me that it's wrong written... color on the other hand is not red highlighted.

So I'm on a dilemma. . . I always tried to Flavor every flavor in love but turns out that u is not always found in US even if it starts with it, yeah, somehow with time u became distant..
though, know that u will always be accepted on a united kingdom.. so I might be lacking u to fully flavour the flavour of love, but then I've chosen to be without u.. so this is how I now flavor the new flavor since I left u.

Any who... I seriously don't know which one is better.. With U or without u.

EDIT: Noura, I didn't know you could nominate your own poems...

  • silvershoes

Without 'u' is always better - do you know why?

    America.

    That's why.

...Sometimes I think you guys forget that we are an American site and no other country matters. I find it highly offensive.

  • L

    Ahh.. that explains it...

EDIT: Gee, well I would now start to consider using the U more often.

  • nouriguess

Jane! Stop being a nit-picker. You're finding everything offensive... that's truly, highly, limitlessly offensive.

We can nominate our poems, yes?

  • silvershoes

Looks like someone wants an IP ban...

Actually, I think it should be a rule that 'u' be left out of words like "color" and "flavor." It should be a rule punishable by death.
Is that too extreme? I'm getting a little excited with all this talk, sorry guys.

Noura, how dare you!? I'm offended that you find my being offended, offensive. Don't be absurd.

Welp, I'm off to feed the camels. Goodbye.
Keep it civil, or you know what ;)

Punishable by death? Starting to think Jane wants to knock Australia off the map...

  • L

Becasue Australia has Colour and lots of Flavour?. . .

or because it has a "u"?

  • Melpomene

All of the above it seems!

  • L

    It seems

    Noura..

"We can nominate our poems, yes?"

Why not? yeah, I think we can.

  • nouriguess

I'm just unable to nominate my latest 'a letter to KEVO'. That's why I brought it up.

Jane, your avatar is also insulting. Never saw my yellow face? Never?

I suggest we make everything in PnQ black and white. Just black and white. It shouldn't even have grey hues.

  • Michael D Nalley

"Larry, the CONDOM. has a range of colours, depending on your perspective: synesthetic, actual, or PnQ?"
That inspires me to post an off colour joke

"An Asian gentleman, just married, goes into the Chemist store and because he is so distinguished is served by the manager who asks what he requires and says he needs some condoms.

The manager efficiently ushers him to the off shelf roundabout, with every type of condom known to mankind.

The Asian customer is very interested in the coloured ribbed variety, which is strongly recommended, and orders 24 of each colour, red orange, green, blue, black, yellow and purple, pays by credit card, thanking the manager for his excellent assistance.

Some 8 months later the same Asian appears again in the chemist and again the manager espies him and offers help once more. The Asian customer says he is looking for a maternity bra,for his wife. Again the manager ushers him to the bra roudabout with a full selection, and inquires "what bust", to which the Asian replies "I think it was the blue one"......

Certainly a colorful party thread, enjoyed.
    A little one from me:

How do you know the fallopian tubes are pink, Mike. Did you stick your head in there to look. I thought they were rainbow colored.

Alright, I want to get serious here for a minute. (Sorry, I've sobered up now. Not that I was ever not sober.)

Noura, you know you can't nominate your own poem. That would completely go against the point of the contest. This brings me to another thing I've been thinking about, though.

I know a lot of people have been worried about favouritism, and people only voting for their friends. Well, I think we could wipe this out almost completely if we made it a rule that people can't vote on poems that were written by people in their own club. I mean, who else do you vote for, right? Nobody. If you like a person personally, you're bound to really have no control over what you do or who you vote for.

We might even extend this rule to "favourite's list," because who is on your favourite's list? Buddies. Probably ex-club members, if not current ones. I just think if someone happens to vote for a friend, there will always be doubt about whether they voted for the poem or the friend him/herself, and it's better to restrict this ability completely than to entertain doubt on such an important matter.

I could see this actually leading to fewer clubs, and more "freelancing" members, who happen to be inherently more moral about these things. It's kind of a win-win.

  • L

Because who is on your favourite's list?

People I like to read from, not necessarily my entire club... I'm in the club so I can easily see if my club members wrote a new poem. So in the favorites, I have some people who I don't necessarily speak to...As well as some club members.. So it's a mixture.

As far as nominating ones poems... There is a thread for that.

"Use this thread to offer your own or another member's poem for consideration to be nominated in the weekly contests."

^^^ if your own poem is that good, then I supposed it will be considered for nominations.

Edit: well technically we can't nominate our own poem ... But we can suggested.

Leave poor Joe out of it.
He's up to his IP in hurricane crap.

You can't ban nominations from favorites list.
One third of my favorites are people I'm keeping an eye on.

Hey, I have a completely new issue!
Why do you keep down-rating my new poem?

Are you jealous of me that I write well? That I am in love with Kev-o?

At least, comment on it before you rate it!

    The color is PERFECT, imo.

Other websites are all sparkling and glittering like old piczo.com websites!!

Our colors are very calm and serene :)

  • sibyllene

I'm copying this from another thread, because I think it fits better here.

"people are only voting for writers who are A. Their friends. B. In their club. C. On their favorite's lists. D. Used to be in a club, or E. Talked to in the forums.

While these forms of contact should be allowed, we can't allow people to vote based on these relationships. And they only way to restrict these mis-votings is to make a requirement that the only way you can nominate without raising doubt about your motivations is to vote for complete strangers, or members who have joined in the last two weeks. This will have the added benefit of branching out to new and undiscovered poets. In fact, I challenge you all to pull up the member's list, arrange it by registration date, and nominate the first poem of one of the first ten new members on the list. Let's give them a good ol' PnQ welcome."

  • Decayed

    So.... ????

Everyone is free to nominate whatever he/she likes.

If you want new people to become in the spotlight, those people should work hard to do so. And believe me, most poets like to search for new talents. I am searching.... still not finding anyone...

  • sibyllene

You don't honestly think that you could vote for a friend without it being BECAUSE they're your friend, do you? Nobody is that altruistic. Except maybe Everlasting, she seems cool.

  • Larry Chamberlin

"I think of a [poet], and I take away reason and accountability."

    Sorry Jack

Is this what we've come to?
I'm going to go weigh a bovine.

Actually, I mean that. It's Jessica's FFA day for hoof trimming & weighing their steers.

  • Decayed

And what if your friends are some of the most talented writers?

  • sibyllene

Then you -definitely- shouldn't be voting for them. The only way anyone could consider their friends to be talented is if they are blinded by partiality. Right?

Larry, I'm going to start saying that now. "Go weigh a steer."

  • Decayed

    What?!

    Hell NO.

I voted for 2 poems till now. I still have one vote.
I could've given it to a friend of mine, lol... I just look at the poem. not the name!

  • Jordan

This thread has gone off topic a bit. Wtf mods.

  • silvershoes

If this thread continues to go off topic from whatever topic it was supposed to have, I'll issue suspensions. This is your 8th warning. When we get to 30, I'll keep my word.

Sibs is absolutely right about nominating poems. If you vote for anyone you know, or have even come into contact twice, then you are clearly, unquestionably biased and your nomination should therefore be rejected.
Actually, any nomination is biased because opinions are never without bias. Let's stop the nominations altogether. We don't need a site contest. Let's get rid of it. Who's with me?!
STOP THE BIAS BEFORE IT BEGINS!

  • Sunshine

Yes Jane, you forgot another point stop praising comments and stop commenting, people only read for their friends, there should be penalities based on this as well. TERMINATE bias, don't just stop it.

  • silvershoes

In fact, everyone should just stop doing everything all the time.

If we can manage to not do anything ever, we can hopefully prevent further instances of bias. We could potentially prevent further instances of anything!

It's foolproof. My mind is set. Let the nothingness begin...

  • Jordan

Jane, I'm really liking this Taoist approach to PnQ.

In order to appreciate poetry, we must first appreciate the blank page that existed prior to it's conception.

In order to avoid bias, greed, and envy, we must remove all instances that lead to them.

What if there were no contest? Better yet what if the site randomly selected 3 featured poems per week?

REDISTRIBUTE THE POWER. DOWN WITH THE SYSTEM.
