I hope everyone will read this article and look at the links provided. It is amazing what concerted effort can accomplish - especially going after the advertisers; rewarding them for pulling out their ads by positive campaigns, etc.

Kevin! How can you plagiarize my post on plagiarism?

    And Sibs?!?!

  • Jordan

I'm with Larry on this one. It's great to see that Sibs has decided to raise this site's awareness by agreeing with Kevin's post.

    As a side note,

It is my wish that users peruse this page and examine hyperlinks contained therein. I find it astounding how effective perseverance can be - particularly when targeting those who work within the realm of advertising; giving them gold stars for removing their adverts.

That's some very interesting information there, Abs. I wonder why nobody else brought it up before?

Larry, I didn't claim the post was mine see? I thought the message was so important it needed instant repeating.

As they say in ireland (sibby can confirm this!)

There used to be a rule against digging up ancient threads, but I'm a mod! MWAHAHAHA

(There also used to be a rule against double posts, sheesh).

Anyway, what I really want to do is remind everyone that we have a no tolerance attitude toward plagiarism on PnQ. You WILL be penalized if you're caught plagiarizing, and we have a lot of members helping us out to make sure PnQ remains a plagiarism-free site.

    Check this out: http://www.plagiarism.org/plagiarism-101/what-is-plagiarism/

As you can tell, identifying plagiarism can be tough because the rules are slack, but generally if more than 5 words in a row are copied, I'd be skeptical. It's totally cool to be inspired by something/someone else, but make the ideas your own.

    You. Have. Been. Warned.

Oh, there's also a rule against ALL CAPS in poem titles or thread titles. You'll be warned the first few times, but penalized if we feel like you're not getting it :)

    Free Information and Advice.

All of the following are considered plagiarism:

    1. turning in someone else's work as your own

    2. copying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit

    3. failing to put a quotation in quotation marks

    4. giving incorrect information about the source of a quotation

    5. changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit

    6. copying so many words or ideas from a source that it makes up the majority of your work, whether you give credit or not

*SMALLPRINT... The above information has been copied and pasted from the link which was posted in the post above me on this thread...except for the new blank lines to space out each bullet-point, which came from my own mind in order to make it clearer for your mind to read... *edit*... and also the numbers because the site's coding system would not accept the bullet-points!!

*SMALLER PRINT... Please read the small print titles as not being capitalised at all, and all being in fact lowercase.

*SMALLEST PRINT, WHICH NO ONE EVER READS... this information was not actually free, and you have now been billed £1 million for reading something which you thought was free.... mwah hah hah...

BR really? teh smallest print? and yes I read the very smallest print trust me as I told my case worker when I used to go to WorkForce "I don't wanna be screwed because I didn't read it all" when I asked for copies of EVERYTHING

    ^Very true!

I used to be awful for skipping small print, but learned my lesson through a mobile phone contract!! I always read the small print now... especially if something is advertised for free... there is usually a pricy catch lol!

Trust me I'm so bad of "what's the fine print" that I won't get anything without knowing what exactly is the terms, how much I have to pay, if there's an outclause, and will I really need it? God and don't get me started on insurence I can start on that one since they make the smallest crud possible on advertisment! seriously it's all around us but we don't want to "know" so if you get "screwed" it's all on YOU lol

Lol Kevin's post still make me giggle.

And I think Jane's reason was stated in her 2nd post; quoting "Anyway, what I really want to do is remind everyone that we have a no tolerance attitude toward plagiarism on PnQ. You WILL be penalized if you're caught plagiarizing, and we have a lot of members helping us out to make sure PnQ remains a plagiarism-free site."

It is the flaw of having a naked mind. But what a travesty of nakedness it would have been, if the nakedness were, the images, in that mind!!

    And how embarrassing.
