I agree with Michael. Love is such a common word in English. We never say it in Portuguese unless we really mean it. Love is in friendship and admiration but it is a different kind. True friendship and admiration can't survive without it.

Now if you are talking about that dreaded friendship that turns to admiration and then to passion there is always the danger that one will not be loved the way one has imagined it . I once allowed myself the ecstasy of what I believed could be before it was. To my dismay I have found that you cannot make yourself love someone the way they may wish no more than a beauty you admire can make his/herself love you in the way you wish

I wrote this because my ex used to ask me whether I love her or admire her?!? And the question about friendship is that, we were just friends @ first...

Once I told my Ex I loved her and when she asked" Since When?" It inspired me to write a love poem by that title that got over 11000 hits on this site. Sometimes it is easier to admire someone than to live with them, or love them the way they may expect

Admiration to me is respect and appreciation of something someone has done, or survived, but it doesn't mean you actually have positive feelings about the person.

Love and friendship are so mixed together for me, and I suspect many other people very often there isn't a clear line in the sand. All my long term lovers have been long term friends before we got together. I suspect I'm in the minority when it comes to this but I've never had sex with someone I wasn't deeply in love with, and I doubt that'll ever change for me. So the boundary of loving a friend and "being" in love is probably slighly more extended in my case.

My ex (d girl i've mentioned in my prev...) and I were just friends, as I've said, and after almost three years of our friendship, I told her the way how she's always been in my heart and how much I loved her, but which I couldn't tell her coz I was afraid to lose the tie/bond we had...and she used to tell me that I'm confused between love & admiration, and that it's just natural or normal how a friend care for a friend...& @last, I somehow convinced her that what I felt for her is love and.......it all seemed alright @ first but slowly and gradually everything went "shaky" (i dunno if this has any meaning @ all!!!)....and that's how our love, friendship & admiration all at once collapsed... together (altogether)!!!

I don't think there exist TRUE friendship without admiration..

I mean if someone doesn't inspire you to do better,
why on earth would you call them a friend.

Love can exist without friendship.
Friendship cannot exist without love.

I have always seen admiration as a different kind of love: the love for someone you would like to be or you would like to know better. Maybe I am wrong.

Friendship admiration=love???

Hatred can't be the result of love, friendship or admiration. Feelings like those are sublime.

"Hatred" cuz....i kinda hate my ex cuz of what she did 2 me...of course we are still in touch but i don't think i can trust her anymore...
