    i need some points to back up why freedom of expression is so important, that we cannot juss sit around and wait for the one sitting next to us to speak up.

    I am participating in a debate

    Moot: this house believe that burning the NZ flag in public should be made legal.

    it can apply to any country really, ho the US laws do tend to get complicated and irrevelevant at time, no offense u america, id gives lots 2 b americn!

    i believe people burn flags to get their pooints across when no-one else will isten, to get peoples attention and present to them heir opnions, i mean id a person feels ths strongly about their beliefs, think they are write and want to be heard then obviously they want to make our country a better place. right?

    I think there is a better way to address flag burning then make itillegal. making things illegaL seems lyk the quick way out alot of the time. if we start making everything illegal, we will very quickly be heading towards a tailban type environment. its true

    i think making burning the flag legal would make people less nspired to do it becoz they know its not a crime. wen u do something thats rebellious has alot more feelings, speshly when u think wat u r doing is right.

    these r juss a few of my points, does anyone else hav any points to add? im arguing affirmative pbvioysly but negating points wud also b gratly appreciated. thanx

    thanks 4 readin guys,
    liss

    I burned a British flag once at a protest...and this geezer came up to me and was like;

    "hey my daddy died in the second world war for that flag...how dare you burn it?"

    And i, being a huge bill hicks fan, replied;

    "Well this is my flag, i bought it in that garage for £4...your daddy didn't die for this flag"

    He got angry so i karate chopped him.

    In all seriousness, flag burning should be part of free rights of expression, no different from someone saying;

    "I hate this country and everything about it"

    I wrote a piece in reply to a similar post about why you shouldn't but I can't see it (Forests and trees.) if I find it I'll copy and paste it over.

    i wanted to burn the finnish flag when i came here but i didn't cuz we didn't have one then. i think burning your flags okay if you need to have ppl get your point. i mean, if nothing else works then burning your flag definitly should draw some attention. i don't think its wrong. i mean, after all its only a flag. but i understand if ppl think its really bad to burn their flag, and especially if they love their country or something. but yeah i wouldnt give a crap about burning finlands flag.
