What is the diffrence??

    ^^^

Not necessarily, there are newbies whose poems are being awkowdlege and I say newbies because they are not in clubs... Though i do agree politics play a big part in our lives because it's everywhere. Even in school or playgrounds.

Edit: ah and so does poetic phrases, those too are everywhere.

There is a reason for you starting your sentences with no, but everything you said I do not disagree!!

  • Decayed

You do not need to be in a club for your poems to be read. If someone on here is clubless and writes high quality pieces, he/she gets all the comments deserved, regardless..

  • ddavidd

You are entitle to your opinion but I disagree.
It affects your outcomes drastically because your teammates support you. (( politics!! ))

  • L

Ah, yes! I did used not for a reason.
There are exceptions as usual, by this I mean. What I might consider a high quality poem someone else might not... Just as stated somewhere up there. In my opinion, there are different reasons for not getting comments... One could be vocab used within the poem, if it's too unknown, people will not understand the poem... So it makes it hard to comment.. if the poem uses terms and topics that people are ignorant about, they will not see the beauty of the poem. But because they can't see it, one shouldnt think the poem has no quality... However, that could make it hard to comment or it could give more room for comments if people take time to research or if they are familiar with the topic.. Also if a poem is simple doesn't mean that it has no quality... it could make it tough to comment because simple poems have not enough room to comment unless the poem has depth.

Also I have realized that the ones commenting on poems aren't for the most part from the same club. It's from different ones. And if I look at some clubs there are poems that have no comments :(..

Though the politics of getting comments in my opinion is either write a poem that is out of the ordinary yet understandable... In some way or another.. Either by the tone of the poem or by the content... Or one that has good use of figure of speech...or meter and Ah there are so many things.. That could touch the five senses in the reader lol to some even the six sense.

Another way might be.. comment on different poems. However, by commenting on different comments doesn't mean that you'll get comment backs but it will be worth the shot. Also there are good things that come from commenting and that's that one learns more. The more one comments even if interpretations are mistaken the more one learns and the more attention one pays in poems. However, commenting just I like it and that's it... Won't do much if what one seeks is to learn to express him/herself better.

So yeah, politics. They are so diverse... It seems that nothing is concrete.

Is there a qualifying criteria for being an artist?..or are you referring to a recognized artist, or someone who is an artist by profession?

^ Extostosis, I'll leave the discussion on criteria with the philosophers of aesthetics (Http://philpapers.org/s/criteria%20of%20art). But what I provided above, the inner core of art - as means to communicate subjective feelings, or -if you're familiar- qualia, is my own definiton and I stick by it until my last day.

why one finds this need for connection, is another existential question that is quite valuable and interesting.

    ^^^^

Well...that used to be true for you LP...you commented and nominated a lot of my poems in the past and then we had a little 'disagreement' (can'even remember what it was about now) and you stopped...so did a lot of others. I don't think my poetry changed...I know for a fact I didn't so to say a person will get comments if their poems are good enough regardless of them being in a club or not is not true...you get comments...albeit by members from different clubs, if you piss in their pockets/request comments promising to return the favour by X amount....I'm just not prepared to do that...I would be ashamed to and...there is a difference between not liking a person and not liking a poem...that is not been observed on this site right now.

  • Decayed

I didn't stop for any disagreement.
My poetry taste changed; that's all.

"there is a difference between not liking a person and not liking a poem...that is not been observed on this site right now."

    ^ not true.
I had some disagreements with Britt, and she used to comment on my pieces. Also Yaki. And Chelsey.

Don't think that just because people don't comment, then they hate you. It's not like that on here. At least, this is what I've experienced with several members.

  • Hellon

Didn't you have a ban from commenting on Britt's poems at one point...even communiciating with each other ? This may seem a little off topic but...politics are involved here I feel and...if the OP is ok to keep my post open then I'm fine with it also?

    Edit

Im also going to add this...not the judges that are in now...and I don't think it was the term before that either..the ones prior to that...I made a comment stating that I thought some of them were either in TKR or of arabic desent ( or both) and I was correct...I beleive you were one Abed but I know Rabia was definately one...now is this just a coincidence if you look at the winners for that period?

  • Decayed

I wasn't banned to comment on her. only PM her.
but c'mon, people grow up, and even if I had my moments, I never held a grudge against someone, so you could say the problem was fixed, and the waters drifted normally back again...

I only judged once, and that was from a very long time ago. I was with Rabea, Noura, Colm & Britt. And at that time, The Kite Runners weren't even there yet lol. So your point falls on its head.

Look at the winners from that period. I remember that Cynnie won multiple times, The Queen also, Yaki, Melpomene, etc... I still remember they used to invade the front page when I judged.

    Your point exactly is.... ???

  • Hellon

Ok..LP...you have stated yourself..Noura and Rabea to be judges at the same time (all of arabian decent if I'm correct) so...this period would be late Dec 2011 maybe going on to March 2012...would this rough estimate be correct?

  • Decayed

    Going on to March 2012?

    I have no idea.

    Your point is 100% racist.
And if we would be on the same low level of thinking, then I would ask just like you, why are there 2+ US judges every turnover?

    I really don't understand you...
And for Hellon to be happy, Arab poets, please, stop thinking of being judges. It's not worth it, if we still have such whatchamacallit people.

  • ddavidd

You two: it is so boring to get this personal, for others!!

  • Hellon

Oh no! ..do not put this racist thing on me once more....just answer the question....were you Noura and Rabia judges late 2011 into March 2012?

Err..ddavibb...you were quite happy to stir the pot earlier so..WTF.. is going on with your last comment?

  • ddavidd

Which pot hellon . I did not get personal with anyone. It is all you who want to prove your point (that I happen to agree more or less) by provocation, which is impossible.

also, even though pl is so confrontational it is you who is in fault: Why you move the Arab cart. do you have problem with them??
If you do it because you think you "can" in real you "can't" because as a poet you "can not" afford to be like this!!

There is such a language/communication problem going on with this thread right now that I'm going to leave it for sure...I don't think I've offended anyone so far so..calling it quits for now...

  • nouriguess

Hellon, yes, I selected Arabic poets who actually learnt your language and appreciated it enough to write poetry in it. I selected them to represent the Front Page. Sue me. :)

I love this thread, by the by. Only that it's going off topic.

  • Hellon

Sue you? That's a tad adolecent don't you think? but thanks anyway for confirming what I've suspected all along...the judging system on this site is less than fair.

No...I wasn't off topic at all....we were talking politics Right?

Out of respect for the OP this will be my last post on this thread.

^ You make me laugh. I just cannot understand you. And I never will.

You either don't hear what I said above, or you don't want to hear, or I don't know.... ugh.

Anyway, those are the poems that won when I was a judge:

    - a poem for mama (Yaki) - I voted for this
    - novel idea (Tara Kay) - I voted for this
    - closed eye visualizations (Jordan)
    - Price Tag (the queen) - I voted for this
    - on the road to rebirth (Night flyer)
    - September (Slighte)
    - Chambers of my heart (Jenni) - I voted for this
    - My Best Poem (Ms Sunshine)
    - In Creases (melissa)
    - 34% illumination (melissa) - I voted for this
    - Winifried Montague (Nicko)
    - Sunshine comes easily with time (Jordan)
    - Our first date (noura) - I voted for this
    - And I pull away (Ms Sunshine) - I voted for this
    - These nights, love (abracadabra)
    - mistress of the moon (The Queen) - I voted for this
    - You (Mel)
    - Springtime around the lemon tree (abracadabra)
    - deprived (yaki) - I voted for this
    - Debris (Melissa) - I voted for this
    - Wisemen (doll with a frown)
    - Janis (sibylline)
    - mulling over satellite photography (Colm)
    - Twenty one (Colm) - I voted for this
    - Slippery Slope (silvershoes) - Ivoted for this
    - Life Passes By (Lu)
    - Body (Lebanese Phoenix)

^ Now I am SURE that you will skip what I've said here and ask another question that is tasteless.

At that time, I was still in LTFR. Kite Runners weren't there, yet. And as you can see, there are only Noura, Nana, and Me as Arabs who won 4 awards out of all. You can't blame us. We write so Damn GOOD :) - So now you tell me, shouldn't we have made a fuss like you always do and shriek racistly: << Why is the highest percentage above from the US?! That is Unfair. the judging system on this site is less than fair.!!! >> ... Blah Blah blah.

    Done.

Politicians manipulate the emotions of the masses in order to gain an advantage.

Artists and poets express their emotions compulsively and genuinely and are often surprised at the reaction.

  • ddavidd

The focal point of the political purpose is quantity and the poetical is quality.

politician conceal their sexual deviance and accuse others of perversion.
politician do not like 100% because only in imperfection they can conceal their judging skim, and hide behind racism sham!!
