    Rules/guidelines:

    - Use this thread to post your poems. Don't post anything other than poems in it please. Only start when the hour starts: Poems posted before or after the hour (PnQ time) won't be counted!

    - You can only take one option/time slot.

    - You cannot post a poem until 2 OTHERS member have posted before you. Work it out in your clubs what poems you are doing each.
NOTE: If you want to use your simplify lifeline this round, you can use it so that only 1 person has to post before you, so that way the contest will be achievable with 2 people. Obviously though the more people you have the easier/faster it is, (so long as everybody is organised!)

    - 1 point per poem (out of 50 points total, bonus points for more than 50 poems) 50pts for average quality, 100pts total (before bonuses)

    - Use the 30 or so minutes before to organise who will take what poem and get writing, ready to hit the ground running when the hour starts. Organisation and teamwork is key here.

Once you have done one lap, you start again! Note: Start at prompt 1 and go in order. If you are doing prompt 3, you can't post that until somebody has posted prompt 2.

*Updated times for the challenge (please pick one to use):

Option 1: Sunday, 7.15-8.15 PnQ time
Option 2: Sunday, 15.00-16.00 PnQ time
Option 3 (NEW): Sunday, 19.00-20.00 PnQ time
Option 4: Monday, 19.00-20.00 PnQ time

    EDIT:

    Evening all

I shall use my abstention lifeline,
so all the crap I post below won't count

but as I cannot sleep I am going to take part anyway.

    Lap 1 prompt 1

    Crowded.

To feel alone, is to be alone
    even when surrounded by love
without sharing my wavelength, my tone
I feel non existent, spied on from above
a head of glass, heart of clay, brain of stone
when we I realise, together forever, we fit like a glove.

    Lap 1 prompt 2

    The birds are laughing

We have the power of freedom,
watching your every move from blue skies
    swooping when angry
    squawking to warn
    crapping to annoy
yes we may be born of egg
delicate and delicious, an object of life.
But once in full flight, we are majestic beings.
Able to migrate to a warmer climate
enjoying the sunshine everywhere we glide,
It is never crying, it's laughing
    at a grounded humans plight.

    Lap 1 prompt 3

    Rain man

    That was what I thought,
I was told, you were special,
    that you would need me,
    each and every day.

    Autistic is just a label,
    you haven't changed,
still my son, who makes me proud,
    each and every day.

    Deep down, locked inside,
my boy has love to give,
but this machine like curse, rules you
    each and every day.

My son you are no 'Rain man.'
you are my fantastic little boy,
    who I love so dearly,
    each and every day.

    Lap 1 prompt 4

    my children choose life

    My children love life,
they are raised that way, to love,
    never to give up,
for fate rewards the brave ones,
    always be yourself, choose life.

    Lap 1 prompt1

My shadow is always one step
before me as the silent flowers
    sleep on the corners of
    my mind surrounded by
    untamed things and words
    that can hide the moon.

    Lap 1 prompt 5

    Over thinking

I think of you every day
wondering what you are doing now,
that time we had has led me astray
    leading to our solemn vow.

I would have never of thought I could change,
drop the arrogance, the act and the hate,
people would say you would estrange,
but we are still together thanks to fate.

    Lap 1 - prompt 2

    Skylarks play on fallen leaves
    as a soft stillness perfumes
    the sparrows, enchanting
    the distracted butterflies.
    Reflected on the eye
    of a humming bird,
    a cicada waits for me
    but I am silence penetrating
    Spring.

    Lap1 - prompt 6

    The setting sun of winter
illuminates a stray cat on the roof:
    I contemplate happiness
    crossing the afternoon.
What would I not give for
this moment when we are all petals
    of the same flowers,
    all sons and daughters
    of the same mother?

    (Hi Karla!!!)

    lap 1 prompt 6
    Winters finger

    Ice and anger combine,
grabs me by the nape and tosses me,
    headfirst into snow,
slip on patches, cry beads of tears that freeze,
like your heart after that cold day,
Why does death point its icicle finger at me,
wanting to choke my frozen breath one last time?

    Lap 1 - prompt 7

What I saw was just enough
to bend. Summer swept my garden
    and everything was forgotten
as the sun sharpened the mountains
    with hope and untold stories
    of an austronaut.

    Lap 1 prompt 7

    Just because
I keep my head in my hands,
    my thoughts in my pockets,
    my charm in a jar,

    Just because
    my madness owns me,
    follows my trails
    leads me to water,

    It doesn't mean
    I am an astronaut
with a head in the clouds
    sleeping on the moon.

    It just means
    I care too much
    about life
    and about you.

    Lap1 - prompt 9

I drag my dreams like reptiles
as if they could swallow anyone
    who kills my mornings.
But I am the one who is
    always in their mouths,
    dissolving the morning cold
    and slippery.

    Lap 1 prompt 8

    wild card (nightmares)

    Nightmares

    I cannot dream,
    for if I shall
    the madness will return.
    My bed is for crying
    not loving,
it hides me from the world.
    My dreams contain eggshells,
    on which I stomp gladly,
    because I cannot run,
    with legs of jelly.
    Follow me into a dream,
I shall show you a world,
    that only time interferes with,
grey clocks and steel thoughts rebound,
my dreams began when I found you.

    Lap 1 prompt 10

    Karla

    Kind and considerate
    always the voice of reason
    relishes people
    loves her club.
    a real gem.

    Lap 1 prompt 11

    (funny)

    Darren

    Desperate to please
always thinking he is numero uno
really should reign in his neck
rest his gob, stop putting his foot in
everyday I have to suffer him
not sure if he knows how I really feel.

    Lap1 - prompt 13

    She took the medicine
    in her trembling hands,
    waiting in bed for another
    spoonful of hope
but tomorrow will be like today
    and her bedridden illusion
    shall look through the window
as the night drinks again a glass
    of mystery and pain.

    Lap 1 prompt 12

    I hate syllables,

    How can I count
    syllables?
    Why should I restrict
    a poem to a few,
    or very many.
    What if I don't finish?

  • Darren
