    Rules/guidelines:

    - Use this thread to post your poems. Don't post anything other than poems in it please. Only start when the hour starts: Poems posted before or after the hour (PnQ time) won't be counted!

    - You can only take one option/time slot.

    - You cannot post a poem until 2 OTHERS member have posted before you. Work it out in your clubs what poems you are doing each.
NOTE: If you want to use your simplify lifeline this round, you can use it so that only 1 person has to post before you, so that way the contest will be achievable with 2 people. Obviously though the more people you have the easier/faster it is, (so long as everybody is organised!)

    - 1 point per poem (out of 50 points total, bonus points for more than 50 poems) 50pts for average quality, 100pts total (before bonuses)

    - Use the 30 or so minutes before to organise who will take what poem and get writing, ready to hit the ground running when the hour starts. Organisation and teamwork is key here.

Once you have done one lap, you start again! Note: Start at prompt 1 and go in order. If you are doing prompt 3, you can't post that until somebody has posted prompt 2.

*Updated times for the challenge (please pick one to use):

Option 1: Sunday, 7.15-8.15 PnQ time
Option 2: Sunday, 15.00-16.00 PnQ time

    "Lap 1- Prom. 1 "

    6 lines poem

You thought somebody else drew a smile on my face,
it ruined the egoist peace you've dished yourself in.
So to slay me gently, you shot me with words
that hit past my heart faster than bullets,
saying you never loved me; so I trimmed the smile
with a poem that spoke of you being the somebody else.

    Lap 1 Prompt 2
    Title: Birds

    The spring birds
    set camp outside my window
    and chirp their ballads
    that wake me up
    each morning.

Oh, how I love the spring.

Lap 1 Prompt 3. Poem based on a film title

Do not ask me about a hill of beans,
    that was Bogie's line not mine;
and surly you know that I believe
    that friendships are always better
    when made in comaraderie
    against a common cause.
So take me back to Casablanca
buy me a drink at Rick's place,
I will never be sorry to say for once
    "Here's looking at you, kid."

    Lap 1 #4

    Tanka Time

    Time spent is nothing
because this time has been spent
    Time is not yet here
    until it is the present
    tense is relevant to then.

    Lap 1 Prompt 5
abab rhyming scheme, 2 or 3 verses

I remember when we first met,
we were only kids in school.
    We'd chat until the sunset.
I fell in love like such a fool.

First, young love that gave us a rush,
I quickly handed you my heart.
I told my family it was more than a crush,
and that we will stay strong and never part.

    Lap 1, prompt 6

    Winter

    I've lit all the suns
    I stole through
    the past summers,
    but none were big enough
    to warm my heart
    from the everlasting winter
    you brought to my life.

Lap 1 7. Include the word 'Astronaut'

My daughter always wanted to be
an astronaut flying past the sky
but like all dreams it passed her by
instead she learned to make a movie.

    Lap 1 Prompt 8
    Title: A Dream? A Nightmare?

    At the darkest hour,
I fall asleep in my bed.
    The comfort of resting
    in a deep, fantasy sleep.

    Suddenly -
    I find myself awake,
    running to the door.
    I hear someone screaming,
    and a deafening sound.

    I open the door,
    a familiar stranger,
    begins to choke me.
Helpless, I try to defend myself,
but I fail in every level.

I lose conscious and hit the ground.
I must be dreaming and lost in sleep...
Funny how dreams can turn to nightmares.

    Lap 1 #9

    Do Androids Dream?

    I believe they will
    because it would only
    be human to imagine
    one dreamed a Creator,
    or Divine to be humble
    enough to care.

    Colm
    has made
    history
    in P N Q

    hysterical poets
running fast as the white queen
just to keep pace with other clubs

    Lap one prompt 13. Medicine

Give me the cure to writer's block
and I will clog the internet
with more trivial verse and prose
    than the system sould handle.
    If terrorists really want to
    bring down the states
    they should fund literary research
for the medicine that opens the mind.

Lap 2 Prompt 3 (Films: Twilight Saga)
    Title: New Moon

    With every full moon,
    I stared at my window
    to see you running around
    freely and effortlessly,
    and I was amazed.

    I longed to join you
    and climb the tall trees.
    I wanted to chase you
the same way you chased me.
I want our shadows to intertwine
and for us to live recklessly forever

I wish there was more to be said
like more than, it could no longer be
the way we cared, the way we loved,
like the times you were in love with me

and I guess there is nothing even left

and a a pinch of salt to add to my hurt

    I know winters bound you,
while fires burn up your heart.
I can see the storms printed
    on your forehead, and the

    The aches of your soul,
    the soreness on your lips,
    the hurt you hide.

    I see it every night
    laying on your bed;
    it slays me deep inside.
