I wrote a song :)

Hey Guys...I've been writing poetry since I was 12....and well, I've been wanting to break into song writing...so I did it. I wrote a song Friday, met a girl who played guitar and sang...and we collabed!

This is my first attempt. My apoliogies for the giggling, and the voice I have isnt the greatest but I was so excited.

I want to thank PnQ and the members who read my poetry, its been your years of support and encouragement that makes me keep striving for more with my writing.

That is amazing . Imagine what you two could do in a real recording studio

It sounded really good . I have not heard any better on youtube in that setting at all

    Seriously?!?!?!?

That is such a HUGE compliment oh my gosh...I have NEVER let anyone hear me sing...honestly...I was so nervous...There will be more to come..i love writing more than performing, but now that everyone has heard my voice, I might do some more!

Michael I truly do appreciate the comment you left on my youtube account...

Honestly, this community here, the support makes me strive harder than ever!

Seriously I have seen some youtubers do a Bob Dylan cover that had many aspects that I liked better than the original and I felt you and your friend have singing talent

Your voices have a rare Tracy Chapman like quality

I am not an expert but I would like to see that video get well over a thousand hits
if it does not that only means it lacked promotion or not enough people know about it

Are you serious?!?!?! OMG! I hope youre not just saying that! WOW! A thousand, beyond real!..

I'm about ready to cry. THANK YOU!

P.s That was just done on an iphone...no recording stuff, nothing

Talking about voices listen to this Asian imitate Bob Dylan he may not pronounced the words exackly the same but trust me he has copied the emotion

My nephew got me to finish writing a song for him and I enjoyed imitating Dylans writing style

I going to edit in a link of an ametour doing an internationally popular song Whole of the Moon

notice how she works the microphone

    Ok, first thing...
I didn't expect that the song would be that much of a 'song'...

but then.... You wrote a HIT. HIT. HIT. HIT.

    Then,
I didn't expect the melody would be so much moving...

but then.... I started singing along. It's AMAZING. AMAZING. AMAZING.

Then, I didn't expect you having a good singing voice.

but then.... your voice was FLAWLESS.
You have an amazing singing voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I swear it's prettier than many singer's out thereee...

you really blew me away, Chelsey.

Hats-off for the VOICE, the song, and the melody.

    And.. we want more!!! :)

This is really good....seriously..I loved it!

If you can take a little critique? I think your friend looked and sounded more comfortable performing at the start...I figure, because she plays the guitar she's more experienced singing? Half way through the song your own voice changed and became stronger and more confident...like you just got into it and lost any nerves you may have had. Considering this was just recorded at home with no studio equipment I think you both done a pretty damn good job!

  • Chelsey

Oh Hellon, I was BEYOND nervous ....my parents didnt even know I sang girl....the point of her and I getting together was for HER to sing MY lyrics ...then she said you dont sound bad, just sing it...so I was sweating bullets, so scared, then I did exactly what you just said..got more confident...

So song #2 will be even better!!

Also, that was our first video, I wanted to redo it and be serious but it was just too cute with all the giggles we chose to just upload it lol

Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I appreciate it and know exactly what you were saying!

My parents cracked me up...my mom started bawling, my dad called me like "I had no idea you sang like that"

I didnt know either til we played this video back lol

I used to critique my nephew's vidoes all the time...I think my advice must have done him some good because he was a finalist on the UK X Factor a few years ago....

  • Chelsey

No kidding???...See I dont know if I'd take my singing far, unless a professional legit offered me their services lol, however I'm really getting into song writing and I'd consider selling my songs for sure.

You had a few little flat spots here and there but..that's just lack of exerience and nerves....next time I'd also like to see you looking into the camera more :)

My nephew didn't win X Factor but he got a lot of work as a result....including some voice over for a cartoon character over in America.

  • Chelsey

I thought that as well actually....i had the whole song memorized but I wanted to read the lyrics just to be SURE I didnt mess up...next song I'll just look into the camera and revert to the lyrics when I feel I'm forgetting...

You just wanna see my pretty eyes Hellon :) LOL

Watch this when you have a minute...he really doesn't make eye contact with the camera until the very end and....he could have worked the stage a bit more IMO.

  • Chelsey

    Is this your nephew?

  • Hellon

    Yeah...course it is haha!!!

  • Chelsey

So youre one of the ladies in the crowd..haha I see you!

Hes very good..kind of hard to keep eye contact with the camera when there is so many of them

  • Hellon

No...I'm not in the crowd...I live in Australia remember? His mum's my ex sister-in-law and...I think the others are her sisters or cousins.

Yeah...I know it hard when there are a lot of cameras around but he was avoiding them I know for sure....I'm very harsh with him but he loves it.

  • Chelsey

    Lol I was just messin!

Well I appreciate your comments and views all! Seriously...

If it wasn't for you PnQ members I wouldn't even have the courage to take it that far!

I'll be sure to share the next one!

The eye contact is so much better here if you notice...guess he listened to me there...will agree with Simon that the suit was aweful (he didn't get to choose this outfit) and his dance moves were terrible....of course, I told him so lol! I really did like his take on the song thought and....I told him that too :)

    EDIT

Chels...I was just thinking..I'm sure there's a rule somewhere saying that we're not allowed to post poems etc on the main boards...maybe a mod could clarify this? Perhaps you should just leave the you tube link and post the lyrics in your account....don't want you to get into trouble.

Thanks LP...I'm glad you liked him but....you're probably right...I really didn't mean to take anything away from Chels....I was just trying to give her some tips for her 2nd song which I'm also looking forward to.
