Poem #1
Gripping
Memories in a time capsule locked
behind a window, but you can't see in,
and I'm lost in a reflection of what I'm not.
Breathing becomes harder when I'm
suffocating at the hands of my own actions.
Losing grip on the frozen body I inhibit,
but that's because I'm human and I
can't always be strong enough to survive.

Poem #2
The Scornful Cents [ Etheree ]
At
the door,
a poor man.
his hand faced up
extending through bars
as his eyes spoke disgrace.
A small child ran to her room
emptied pennies from piggy bank
and with a smile rushed back to the man
But soon her cents like her joy hit the floor.

Poem #3
Unraveled
Everyday words prance on lips,
on the verge of being borne by (...)
with ease. Most dances do not last;
a single moment of tactlessness
and they trip.
Communication is a partner dance,
a duet, that needs to harmonize;
and everyday
I dream about being the song,
you find your voice to.

Poem #4
Waltz
A phone seizure strikes her
the moment she hears
the Blue Danube Waltz ring,
exclusively set for "his" number.
But tonight, for the very first time,
she didn't feel like swaying with it.
It just sounded like a broken record.
And though her skin marks say
it's been 6 days since the last ring,
she chose to make them 7...

Poem #5
A Story of a One Way Ticket
As Aphrodite laughed in spiteful glee,
Rain seemed to fall forever from the sky,
Bit by bit the innocence was gone,
Buying a one way ticket to heartbreak,
I walk with my head held high in an effort,
To keep the painful tears away

Poem #6
Lost
My mind spins, restless
at the thought of you
being gone before
you were known -
I'll never get to feel
your little fingers
curled into mine,
and you'll never know
how sorry I am
I didn't get to hold you.

Poem #7
I'll Fly Away
I had been holding tears back so long
I saw no need to let them flow that day
Someone had to pretend to be strong
When really bad news was on the way
They told us she would not get stronger
Some would say, over but the crying
We knew she'd not be here much longer
I'll not forget the sorrow of the day
We joyfully sang I'll fly away

Poem #8
Vagues d'Amour
My heart...beats like
the ocean
peacefully in waves
but....
when I love
it becomes a
Tsunami....

Poem #9
Jewess
She sits, hunched at the bottom of the garden
Alone, always alone, barely 13
Scuffed knees tucked under her chin
Held painfully tight, rocking
Skinny bare legs, smeared with dirt, tears
Different, she knows it, they know it
They exploit it, taunt her, exclude her
But they look like her
Blue eyes, brown eyes
They hate what they can not see

Poem #10
Black and yellow bug,
Are we not friends in this life?
Why oh why sting me?

Poem #11
Let Go.
The time I knew nothing has passed.
I tried my best not to think about it.
About me, him, and everyone I love.
I know I shouldn't be thinking about it.
Because both of us were just, different.
I guess I'm just afraid of answering.
I wonder if the day when I will be able
To walk on my own path will finally come.

Poem #12
All the Facets ( A Genie Sees)
Upon the Eve of Creation
Adams were splitting Heirs
With pressure on those Jewels
Rely upon the Diamonds
to shine and sparkle; set

Poem #13
Baby Brother
He fit perfectly, swaddled up in blue, in my arms.
With the rustling of crinkled hospital bed sheets
And gentle switching of my arm's position around him:
His fragile, small body would contort into a shake,
Not wanting that moment to end. I relaxed and watched
As his wrinkly face and eyes danced in a dream.
I traced my thumb along his smooth, freshly-born cheek,
Held him closer to my heart and sighed as he grabbed it.
Not even a day old and he had a finger around my own
And me wrapped around his. My heart bursts in love.

Poem #14
Reaching the bottom line
I felt my mind warp as it decided to slow,
slipping into a abyss when I wanted to grow,
breaking point dashed past and broke loud,
was I even a man, was anybody proud?
Tears fell for the first time since I was a child,
my minds furniture scattered, emotions running wild,
I had reached the bottom line, the pit of despair,
Hindsight told me I would find, those that truly care.
(the day I dropped into depression and showed emotion for the first time in about 15 years)

Poem #15
Witnessed
Grandpa, my eyes will never deny how speechless I
was when seeing how pain wrapped itself around your ribs;
I was not afraid of you --- death makes you invisible
but not a derelict part of my memory.
When it was my time to go, emotion coursed through
me so strong I trembled.... our love needs its voice heard.
Summoning strength from weak muscles,
I let my blue heart breathe out "I love you"
and felt your brimming heart answer me with
"I love you too."

Poem #16
Naive Loss
Lying alone on the cold concrete ground
with excruciating pains shooting through my stomach.
My naive mind too young to understand
that a baby could stop growing at any time.
My mind doing somersaults with a thousand worries
about what was happening to my body.
But lying there alone brought my worst fear alive
as my unborn baby died just a tiny lump of blood.
I fear I will die alone, whispering for the ones I love.

Poem #17
A moment I wish to live...
A thought respires in my mind
when I am losing you,
that if fate gives me a chance
to find you once again... old and grey.
I know my eyes would still emote the unspoken words,
I didn't whisper to you today.
But that one moment
will retrace the lost path of togetherness.
Destined forever you are for me,
sure I am that I'll make you mine.
