Brevity Contest - Round 2

    Hello,

I am still waiting for one judge to give the results for Round 1, but meanwhile I would like to start round 2. This round will be a challenge indeed but after all this is brevity.

    Prompt:

There is a lot of space to write about space
so do not space out and think about what type of space
you would like to write about
because this particular Space, right here,
will be looking forward to reading
in between the spaces of your poems.

So can you guess what the prompt is?

Write a poem about the prompt using exactly 60 syllables.

I repeat EXACTLY 60 syllables. No more, no less.

Be creative, and economize your words.

Deadline: Saturday, March 16 at 24:00 PnQ time.

*P.s. Results for round 1 will be given no later than Wednesday, but let me tell you that so far there is a tie.

To put it in the jar is easy to take it out is difficult, specially having monkeys in mind.

Is space here about the meaning of space, or about the physical space of our entries ??

  • Larry Chamberlin

I'm only concerned with the emptiness of the space between my ears

  • ddavidd

I am not worried about that
that is the reason I would never get drowned
    it is to my advantage

  • Larry Chamberlin

Hmmm... actually I do float quite well. Maybe you have a point.

The prompt itself is exactly 59 syllables.

    ^^ Is it?

    There (1) is (1) a (1) lot(1) of (1) space(1) to(1) write (1) about(2) space(1)= 11

    so (1) do(1) not(1) space (1) out(1) and(1) think(1) about(2) what (1) type(1) of(1) space(1)= 13

    you(1) would(1) like(1) to(1) write(1) about(2) =7

    because(2) this(1) particular(4) Space(1), right(1) here(1),= 10

    will(1) be(1) looking(2) forward(2) to(1) reading (2)=9

    in(1) between(2) the(1) spaces(2) of(1) your (1) poems(2) 10

    11+13+7+10+9+10= 60

    *******

Is space here about the meaning of space, or about the physical space of our entries ??

^^ It's about Spacing out the reader and the judges while the writer does not space out of orbit. :]

    Ok

Ohh Mr. Larry, thank you for bringing this up.

I will be checking the syllables the old fashion way instead of using syllable counters. So please double check.

Also I have 3 poems in! So this challenge seems to not be that complicated.

"^^ It's about Spacing out the reader and the judges while the writer does not space out of orbit. :]"

I thought the objective was to erase the space between us (the writers) and the judges not orbiting for them.

    captain kirk:

    space the final frontier... Where
    No Man Has Gone Before
    and also is already there

    how many syllables here?
    I lost the count

    My bad

It's about Spacing out, the reader and the judges, while the writer does not space out, out of his orbit. :]

I mean, impress the judges take them to "some" space.

The writer can do it however he/she wants, so long as he/she writes it in exactly 60 syllables.

    The Prompt is Space.

but take into account that the judges might take into consideration other factors within the poems. Following just the rules that I have given will not be just enough.

    Captain ( 2) Kirk(1) = 3 syllables

    Space(1) the (1) final(2) Frontier(2)... where(1)= 7
    No(1) man (1) has (1) gone (1) before ( 2)= 6
    and(1) also (2) is(1) already (3) there (1) = 8

    How(1) many (2) syllables(3) here(1)?= 7

    I(1) lost (1) the (1) count (1) =4

    35 syllables in everything....

Edit: the title doesn't count within the 60 syllables.

  • ddavidd

Just 35?? I think you short changed me
but well I guess I asked for it!!

Today is the last day to turn in your pieces.

    3 are in.

    edit: 4 are in
