Go and lie down on your bed. Completely over-exaggerate your laughing and fake it. After a while, you'll find your self in stitches for nothing. Very amusing.

As odd as it sounds, it actually works.

Here in Australia they have actually got a school recently and banned homework with amazing learning results for the children...

    CUT & PASTE ARGUMENT

If there are so many arguments with children about homework, perhaps we need to question why teachers are expected to set homework that, when not completed, becomes a disciplinary issue. On the one hand we want children to love learning; on the other hand they have to face consequences if they don't love it.

As a primary school teacher, deciding what consequences there should be has eluded me and created a great dilemma. I don't want to keep children in because they haven't done their homework. Being deprived of playtime leads to resentment. Socialisation is an equally important learning area.

Sure, I have contacted parents when homework hasn't been completed, as required under DE&T guidelines - only to find out that the homework issue is trivial compared to the other issues that the family is confronting. Why would I want to insist on putting more pressure on these families?

Educators can suggest follow-up informal activities to do at home. If children are motivated about a particular area of learning they will enjoy doing this. Teachers can respond to their efforts with enthusiasm and encouragement. Let's not make learning a burden. Let's make learning fun and self-motivating. As the DE&T guidelines state, homework is supposed to help children take responsibility for their own learning.

Children also need unstructured time. Perhaps the children who are baulking at formal homework know that they have already spent an adequate amount of time in structured learning and know they need to chill out for their mental health. Isn't relaxing what we adults want to do after a days work? Why should children be any different?

    I agree whole heartedly!

Sometimes homework is a pain. Fortunatly I am homeschooled and can do my homework during my classes its so much easier. After school I just take a long break. It makes it much easier to go from day to day.

However I disagree with lipton. Homework is for our benifit it helps us do well on tests etc. Someday it will cause us to be able to cope with a world of educated people. If we did not have homework we would not remember all of the things taught. Unless we had photographic memories, which I envy greatly of some folks.

If you want to say I don't understand how hard it is for y'all, you are wrong I went to a regular school most of my life.
