Elf complaint

    1. The first and most important rule is to be respectful to all members. Being disrespectful to other members will not be tolerated.

Should not the elfs adhere to this rule too?

I refer you to Intelligent Chat 2.

I'm all for banter but I just found it entirely disrespectful.

There's no swearing or foul language (which in a way would have at least made it less personal.) just plain disrespectfulness. (Is that a word, Matt?)

I think the disrespect was focused more on your ideas, an not on your person in this case.

I agree with that. Although I can understand why you're offended, perhaps it would be a good idea to take the subject a bit more lightly and with a broader mind about his reply in relationship to your ideas.

I dont think that if someone other than an elf wrote that that it would get edited out, although I think it was ddisrespectful I think that you may be trying to hold him overly accounatable for his actions, considering he is an elf.

He shouldnt have said that, but I dont think that he was so out of line that he was abusing his elfen duties.

The secret is that if you recognize them as elves you get cookies - keebler cookies (to be more specific).

They get put under your pillow.

But only if they like you.

If you never find a cookie under your pillow and you have formally recognized the elfen community governing the site it means that they really dont like you.

Me? I've gotten plenty of cookies. The elves love me. Especially Kevin ;) lol

I'm not too bothered in reality, just highlighting the responsibility elves have. I run and maintain another forum and if one of my elves posted as such I'd be peeved is all.

Thanks for the spellcheck, Matt, it was 2am and I couldn't be arsed to doublecheck.

I'm big enough and ugly enough to fight my own battles, as my reply suggests, so I'm not particulary bothered what happens. But if you, Kev, were to post in the same manner to one of the kids and shit on their beliefs there would potentially be a very different reaction. Something to bear in mind.

    Yes sir.

Corrected. I did look at it for about thirty seconds before posting then I thought I could spell check it later. I like being right about spell checking.

I am constantly checking and re-checking myself, I have an Oxford dictionary sat next to me and dictionary.com is the one site I use more than any other.

Since I started writing about three years ago I've been very particular about improving my diction and general knowledge of words and thier multiple meaning.

Of of the exercises I do, occasionally here, is adding sentences that can be read an entirely different way under the surface.

    Much fun.

Fair point Bret, i shouldn't have used the term "brainwashed", it was over the top and clearly way too personal, suggesting i suppose some lack of intelligence on your part. I meant only to put forward how strong the psychological conditioning soldiers endure, to the point where their previous civilian morals can be totally changed. I meant no offence.

    My apoligies.

And bob, i'm not half as smart as you think I am.

No need to apologise Kevin, I was just getting it off my chest. Narked at the time, not nearly so after a couple of hours kip. It wasn't me you insulted so to speak, just my friends, family, profession and tradition.. Ok. Yeah, me too.

And Bob, I'm like Churchill, I'll always respond in kind. If the gloves come off, they come off *grins*

All done and dusted as far as I'm concerned.
