I like introspective, as far as the Buddhism thing goes I failed on that front, I went as far as purchasing an ornamental Buddha and placing him on my window sill, he is holding a coin. I thought 'This may bring me luck and money....'

which goes against most of what Buddhism stands for....whoops.

    What is a crumpet?

A crumpet can be one of two things, either a good looking girl as in 'nice bit of crumpet'

or a small thick yeast cake with holes in that is toasted and served with butter.

As for Candy Crush...holy crap...what a time wasting git that game is.

Well if you're over your Candy Crush, try looking for me on Words with Friends - my own addiction. A couple of others here are already giving me battle.

Popping in to say what has been said already really and to give my take on it - That the mods can't be around 24/7 and the main priority still is the unseen work (dealing with plagiarism, complaints, smooth running of the contest etc.) We may have been quiet recently but part of that is due to the fact that there hasn't been a whole lot to moderate on the forums, and we have busy lives outside of PnQ too (I'm avoiding Candy Crush because that might tip me over the edge altogether! Ha).

    I am SHOCKED!

That no one called me out for attributing Hamlet's soliloquy to Macbeth.

    Carry on

I'll just ignore everything here for now. Because I am in shock.

HOW can you not know what crumpets are?!

I thought everyone knew what they were-given the sarcastic comments we usually get such as "tea and crumpets" haha!

Damn. Now I'm hungry, and want crumpets.

Can you explain the difference to me? Haha... all I pictured in my head were crumpets being pastries....and are scones the thin, long pieces of bread or something? Now I'm lost :D

Jenni- I think we just went along with it, but never knew for certain what it was. Didn't want to anger your kind because we've never been to your world lol!

Little Miss Narph held back the barf ,Eating her curds and whey; Along came a mod, acting kind of odd & frightened Miss Narph away.

A parody that would have drawn a lot of friendly fire in the old days lol

Maybe this thread should have been a test: If a mod didn't respond within three days, they would be demoted.

Haaaaaa I would have failed SO HARD.

See? This is why I can't participate. I'm a thread killer. I wrote on the books thread, and it was dormant for two months.

    LMAO sibs...

aww how sad. Youre like that kid that sits alone at lunch and no one pays attention.

Come, come now. I'll sit with you and chat. We can be BFF's hahaha

  • abracadabra

Hellon, if you want the presence and attention of mods so much, you'd better give them something to do. I suggest taking your clothes off and running through the forums shouting "kiss my barrre Scottish arrrrse, loserrrs!"
Of course, instead of penalising you, they'd simply join in. And that's just the way we like them.

  • ddavidd

Or to get their attention like me just say the truth that nobody wants to hear, and then you get those attention. Then you sluice the juice that would wake them up from steep of their beauty sleep, or slip Colm the sleeping beauty, to duty .

Ho hum... it seems the rest of the mods have covered everything. I might add there is no stern reason why we've kept Sherry in moderatorship while we wait for Janis' return, but what's the rush? Waiting hasn't hurt anyone.

I apologize for not seeing this thread earlier. I was camping in Yosemite with my boyfriend, then came home and discovered my internet wasn't working. I'm here now! I try to check in on my phone a few times a day.

I understand some of you would like us to be more present, and by present, I can only assume you mean participate more in threads. I hear ya. I skim the threads looking for anything that bends or breaks the rules, but beyond that, I suppose I've lost my zest for chit chat. If that makes me a poor mod, then I'm a poor mod. Frankly, I'm more concerned that I disappoint the other mods by not being present enough in my duties. If that's the case, I would feel inclined to pass my moderatorship on to someone more qualified.

As it is, we don't seem to need any more mods. The current team is doing a very fine job.
I think the quietness here has more to do with other social sites taking precedence. Having the chat room back might help?

I apologize for my late reply to this thread, as the mod and some members were aware I have been in exam mode over the last few weeks. I have managed to read through this thread over the last few days and I can't say much more than what I have said in the past and what has already been said by the other mods.

I have never been an overly active member on the main boards and that has not really changed. If striking up conversation on the main boards is something members are seeking from mods then I will be happy to say that perhaps I am not the best fit for the position. That being said I do constantly read over the discussions and I am active when it comes to my mod duties.

The site is a lot quieter compared to the old days but it is also a lot more relaxed. The fact that mods do not have to parachute into threads as often is a good thing to me. I understand that members would like us to be more active in threads and I would like to but we do get busy. While we may not be type bombing your threads we are behind the scenes working together to keep the site running as sufficiently as we can.

Yes, it has gone very quiet on this site now, and has been like this for a long while.
Myself and Ingrid had to close our Ravens Club here, as there was simply very little member participation almost from the very start. Was a real shame as we tried in vain to make it an exciting and very friendly club, but too many members just wanted to register but then not participate. Real shame.
It's the way of the world now it seems, people don't want to participate. Hopefully, this trend will reverse..

My how you have grown Peter, I remember when you were just a little gnome running around in your Purple Pants and hiding in your shed trying to invent a time machine.

You are correct that this site has gone quiet, however I am going to try and do my bit.

I was one of the first to whinge (no surprise there) Yet this morning I looked back at the comments I have left on members poems and realised that I haven't left a decent meaningful comment on a poem since early May.
Now if I am not going to play the game and leave decent feedback and nominate more than one poem a week. (I only nominated 2 last month I think) then how can I sit here and moan about tumbleweed?

Peter, I don't believe we've met, but I'm sorry to hear about your club. Your profile sparked my interest... did you meet Ingrid on PnQ? I'm excited to read your sci-fi love story books!

    Sorry. Off topic.

    Hi Darren!

Well, I'm still running around in my Purple Pants (the name you gave me when we used to spa?!), and inventing stuff when I can, but moreso these days I am writing a Novel with Ingrid, as one of several books that we have in mind to write.

Ingrid and I have now met twice (my first 'Raven meet!'), and more visits to follow as we write our book together 'Zero Point', our Love story between two lost souls set against a fantastic science fiction background! The book is already generating a lot of interest as it now nears completion, and our combined writing talents will easily beat the Twilight Sagas, so watch this space!

We hope you're keeping well and that your new business is growiing!

Keep writing your Poetry Darren (you have lots to learn!) Lol!!!

    Purple Pants and Ingrid!
(P&Q is still a great Poetry site to belong to!)

Hi Silver Shoes! Pleased to meet you,

Yes, Ingrid and myself met through PnQ -Ravens Club, (a long story in itself there, worthy of another book write!!), and she comes over to the UK now as often as possible so as to co write our book 'Zero Point'.

It was good to actually meet another PnQ member from our site, more writers should do that, and collaborate with their writing talents.

    Purple Pants and Ingrid!
